| Douglas VC-118-DO 'The Independence' |

File Description:
Built at Santa Monica, CA (c/n 42881/29) as the personal aircraft of President Harry S. Truman. It was named 'The Independence' after President Truman's home town in Missouri. The aircraft was delivered on 1 July 1947 and served from 4 July 1947 on as a presidential aircraft till 1953 when Gen. Dwight Eisenhower became President of the USA. It seems that the rather special paint job was based on an idea by President Truman himself. 46-0505 served on as a general VIP transport till 1966 when it was donated to the Smithonian Institute for preservation. It is on loan to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. 'The Independence' could accommodate for 24 day or 12 sleeper passengers (in the main cabin). It had a luxurious State Room aft of the passenger door. Usually there was a crew of eight. It is featured here in its original tan, blue and metal livery. You will require Jens B. | Frozen rivers and lakes (and sea) for Alaska's winter |

File Description:
This "freezes" all lakes and rivers (and some sea) for winter flying and means they can be landed on with skis or wheels; it is meant for low level flying rather than high level jet flights. This edition covers all of Alaska, except for the Aleutian Islands, as the worst area to do this for is a string of islands. Terrible. Fiddly. It is reversible with an "untick" in the FS scenery library. I have spent some time making sure that the sea and the larger inlets along the southern coast do not get frozen too as they stay ice-free in winter. Along the north shore I went for the peak of the winter with sea ice all the way to the permanent polar cap; this is not totally realistic as there is usually a partially open lead along the coast, but anything else would be ...... fiddly. This is really for use with Ultimate Terrain, though it will work without it. But as UT is what gets all the lakes and rivers there and in the right place it would be a shame not to be using UT. There is a blurry transition between southern Alaska and Canada so you may need the recent Canada post too.

| Navigation Scenery Update - KCLE and KDTW Cleveland and Detroit |

File Description:
Several of the KCLE and KDTW airport procedures (SIDs and STARs) were changed as of 08 June 2006. There are also new procedures in place that contain fixes that are not included in the default Flight Simulator scenery. This BGL scenery contains all necessary navigation data to add to Flight Simulator for these new waypoint fixes, so that you can navigate with FMS or GPS any of the new KCLE and KDTW SIDs or STARs.
This is fully compatible with FS9 (FS2004), although it may or may not be compatible with FS2002.

B25-B Mitchell Doolitte's Raiders "Hari Carrier" A/C No. 40-2249, April 18, 1942. Painted over The B24 Guy's B25 Mitchell Overhaul Model. This was mission plane #11, nicknamed The Hari Carrier. Pilot: Capt. C. Ross Greening, Co-Pilot: Lt. Kenneth E. Reddy, Navigator: Lt. Frank A. Kappeler, Bombardier: S/Sgt. William L. Birch, Flight Engineer/Gunner: Sgt. Melvin J. Gardner. The bomb group attacked targets in the Tokyo area. The North American B-25B was not designed or intended for aircraft carrier use, but there they were, sixteen highly modified bombers sitting on the deck of the USS Hornet (CV-8). They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo. The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. The crews were all volunteer, and had no carrier experience, yet all sixteen of the bombers were successful on take-off. Although little physical damage was inflicted on Japan, that day, the Japanese populace was demoralized, as suddenly, the war was brought to their homeland. Note the nose art. Those patches are setting into FSX the lighthouse of the Cap de Garde, in Annaba, Algeria and the ones of Bejaia. They also flatten two inaccuracies of terrain which are seen in Annaba, on the route to the airport and in Oran, East of the harbour.
