| Aloha Airlines, Boeing 737-230, 60th Anniversary 'Funbird' RetroJet (N823AL) |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
As part of its 60th Anniversary commemoration, Aloha Airlines has brought the groovy looking "Funbird" livery of the late '60s to mid '70s to one of its B732s. Yeah baby! This is that B737-230, registration N823AL, named "Liholiho". It has been re-painted in these retro "Flower Power" colors. This aircraft started service halfway around the world in Germany, being delivered originally to Lufthansa in January of 1984. She wore the Aloha Airlines livery for the first time in December of 1996. This aircraft is highly detailed and all hand painted, right down to all the little flowers. If you want to light up your 'mouse' at night, I recommend Matthew Lue's Tinmouse II lighting effects (AVSIM DLID 89742).
This is a textures only package; you must have the Tinmouse 737-200adv v2 base package available here at AVSIM (tinmouse_ii_v1_25.zip). The textures in this repaint are 32-bit with no mips. NOTE: This is a re-upload due to the AVSIM site compromise.

| "Imperial 109" - The journey of Imperial Airways S.23 "Caterina" in 1939, from the novel by Richard Doyle. |
|
File Description:
In 1977 the novel "Imperial 109", by Richard Doyle, was published. The story is based on the flight of an Imperial Airways Short 'Empire' Class flying-boat, "Caterina", on its journey through Africa to Cairo and onwards through Europe to England and finally across the Atlantic to New York. When I read this novel just recently I couldn't help but think that it would make a wonderful Flight for Flight Simulator, and the fact that the characters and storyline was fiction was of no concern, because the airline, the aircraft and the route flown were real. I also considered that the best way to present this was to publish it as an unfolding story in blog format, in the same fashion as the Sir Alan Cobham flight around Africa which I had undertaken. Therefore I present you with "Imperial 109" for Microsoft Flight Simulator and you can take part by following and flying the updates as I present them online.

| Saab 340B Freighter |
|
File Description:
Saab 340B Freighter Complete ...
Two variations - actually a very slight difference between the two ..
one is a factory version ... meaning that there were never any window ports cut in.
The second is a "in field" conversion ... meaning that a former passenger version was converted to pure freight with the outlines of the ports still visable as "plugs were used to blank out the windows.
Pictured are the two versions painted for my freight service, however both textures included are "blank" ... without any markings or "N-numbers" - ready for you to customize to your liking. The one photo I found at the official Saab site was of the Factory Version which had the word CARGO emblazened on the side... I skipped that part, figuring once in service, the lack of windows would be a pretty good clue that it was a freight only. Pilots and ground crews are pretty smart ladies and gentlemen... and they tend to be quick on the up-take.

File Description:
Avon Park Executive Airport, Airport Code KAVO, is located in the
center of the Florida peninsula. It is within 80 miles of several major
Florida cities and International Airports including Tampa International
and Orlando International. Miami International is located about 150
miles SSE. Although used primarily by local businesses, it has repair
facilities for planes flown in for that purpose. In addition, it is
used as a temporary base for people attending the 12 Hours of Sebring
Gran Prix auto race as well as air shows held both at Sebring Regional
and Lakeland Linder airports.
The Terminal/Office building was created by me in Google Sketchup and
contains nothing from any other source. The windows are actual photos
taken of the building at the Avon Park Airport. I obtained permission
to use those photos from the Avon Park Executive Airport director. You
may use all or any part of this upload for any purpose that is legal.

Hawker Siddeley Nimrod of the Royal Air Force. For FSX only. Copyright Simshed 2010
The Hawker Siddeley Nimrod is a military aircraft, which was developed and built in the United Kingdom. In essence it is an extensive modification of the de Havilland Comet - the world's first jet airliner. It was originally designed by de Havilland's successor, Hawker Siddeley - now part of BAE Systems. Its major role was anti-submarine warfare, with also secondary roles in maritime surveillance and anti-surface warfare. There is also a Nimrod variant which is used by the RAF in an electronic intelligence gathering role. The aircraft has enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in the Royal Air Force and gone through numerous upgrades and modifications. The Nimrod series was due to be replaced by the now cancelled Nimrod MRA4.

Originally c/n9798 42-23936 it flew with the USAAF in North Africa and later in the ETO. It took part in D-Day, Market Garden and Operation Varsity, dropping parachutists. After WW2 it went to Ceskoslovenske Aeroline as OK-WDU and between 1958 and 1983 with the French navy as #36. It later went to Stellair and Transvalair in France as F-GEOM, before going to the UK as G-OFON with Classic Airways and later Air Atlantique. After a stint with South Coast Airways, it went to the Aviodrome in the Netherlands in 2006, where unfortunately it was left outside without protection. When the Aviodrome went bankrupt it went to Classic Wings, who are currently restoring it for static display in the Museum in Overloon. | Southeast Airlines 1999 AI Package |
|
File Description:
Southeast Airlines was the late 1998 re-start of Sun Jet International which was a US scheduled carrier that had gone bankrupt in 1997. The airline's livery featured the revival of National Airlines' "Sun King" logo, and the ICAO code and callsign reflected this logo. In contrast to their past, the airline came back as a charter carrier with contracts with tour operators. Most of the charters were between Florida Beach cities or Cruise ports and cities in the Southeast USA. Initially, the airline had a single DC-9-30, but a 2nd was added in July 1999. In 2000, the airline grew and started preforming some sports and private charters and charters to the Western US. MD-80s arrived in 2001, and the airline failed soon after in 2004. Fleet repaints for both DC-9-30s on the AIG model are included. Flightplans and repaints by Chasen Richardson. Part of the 1998 Flight Simulator Project. | Ghana Airways 1998 AI Flightplans |
|
File Description:
Ghana Airways was only 6 years from the end of a long history in 1998. A pair of DC-9-51s flew around West Africa, sometimes on 6-stop flights, while the 2 DC-10-30s(one of which was still in the old livery) flew to New York and the 3 routes remaining in Europe. Though based in ACC, ABJ seems to have had more flights and destinations from the DC-9s. One of the DC-9s was destroyed in a crash landing 2 years later and the airline never recovered, shutting down in 2004. A single Fokker 27-600 was operated by the Ghana Air Force as "Ghana Link", a regional subsidiary of Ghana Airways, in full Ghana military colors. I have included that aircraft with representative domestic flights as flights were not listed on the schedule. Links to repaints included. Part of the 1998 Flight Simulator Project.
