F-111F Aardvark v1.1 for X-Plane 6.40/6.51 - After a prolonged gestation period in which many, many problems had to be identified and fixed, the F-111 turned out to be one of the most effective all-weather interdiction aircraft in the world. Although vilified by some as being an unsafe and dangerous plane, the F-111 series of aircraft established the best safety record of any of the aircraft in the Century Series of fighters with only 77 aircraft being lost in a million flying hours. There was no other aircraft in service with the USAF which can carry out the F-111's mission of precise air strikes over such long ranges in all-weather conditions. Although the aircraft has left USAF service, it still serves with distinction with the Royal Australian Air Force and may very well continue until 2020. The original concept for the F111 was for both a USAF and US Navy version. Weight problems led to cancellation of the Navy version in 1968.
The F111 was the first swing wing fighter, the first with a side by side escape capsule for the operators and the first able to cruise at over mach 1 without after burning. It was also the first bomber with greater than mach 2.5 capability. The F version has a wingspan of 63.0 ft. spread, a length of 73.5 ft. and is powered by two 25100 lb static thrust engines with afterburning. Gross takeoff weight is 100,000 lb., maximum ordinance 31,000 lb and internal fuel 5025 USgal. Range is greater than 2500 nm with internal fuel and service ceiling is above 60000 ft.

Proving highly adaptable, it became a major part of the air wings of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and U.S. Air Force. It was used extensively by all three of these services during the Vietnam War, serving as the principal air superiority fighter for both the Navy and Air Force, as well as being important in the ground-attack and reconnaissance roles by the close of U.S. involvement in the war.
First entering service in 1960, the Phantom continued to form a major part of U.S. military air power throughout the 1970s and 1980s, being gradually replaced by more modern aircraft such as the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon in the U.S. Air Force and the F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet in the U.S. Navy. It remained in service in the reconnaissance and Wild Weasel roles in the 1991 Gulf War, finally leaving service in 1996.
The Phantom was also operated by the armed forces of 11 other nations. Israeli Phantoms saw extensive combat in several Arab–Israeli conflicts, while Iran used its large fleet of Phantoms in the Iran–Iraq War. Phantoms remain in front line service with seven countries, and in use as an unmanned target in the U.S. Air Force. Phantom production ran from 1958 to 1981, with a total of 5195 built. Tuktoyaktuk is on the northern coast of Canada, 70 miles north of Inuvik and to the east of the Mackenzie River delta. It has a population of around 900 and because of its natural harbour is a centre for oil exploration activity on the surrounding land and on the Beaufort Sea, with sizeable but now under-used yards dating back to the peak of activity in the late 1970's. On land work is restricted to the winter half of the year, as only the freeze-up makes it possible to move on land with heavy equipment, and during the winter further supples are driven over an ice road from Inuvik up to Tuk. The ice-free summer months are used for floating equipment from Yuk along the coast on barges and then up the rivers to inland sites in preparation for the winter activity. Before the oil there was a DEW line station here, and there is still an automated station on the same site and included here, as are the yards. The airfield is on the coast close to the town and the yards, at 15' ASL. The gravel runway 09/27 is 5,000' feet long and 150' wide; both thresholds are displaced by 200', but of course there are no markings on the gravel. The large apron is on the north side at the centre of the runway and is large enough to accomodate several large planes. Inuvik revised should be installed first, now Tuk, then last of the three Sachs Harbour which has AI for Aklak Airlines flights (operated by Kenn Borek) for all three airfields. There is a separate AI file included here, featuring freight delivery by Buffalo Airways and small planes.

This package incorporates all known revisions. No other supplemental files are required for this version.
Instructions
There are three separate packages that comprise this release.
A-4C
A-4M
TA-4J
The files are packaged so that all you'll need to do is unzip the package directly into your FS2004 Aircraft folder. Each package has both panel and sound files included. There is a folder with the panel documentation included in each package.
The A-4C Package includes A-4E's and A-4F's. The A-4F's in this group include a Blue Angels and a VFC-12 Omar. Neither had the "humpback" electronics installed.
The A-4M Package includes both Navy and Marine Corps versions. The Navy versions are A-4F's with the "humpback".
The TA-4J package includes both training versions and three versions used as "Aggressor" aircraft such as those portrayed in the motion picture "Top Gun".
Credits
The visual models were designed by Kazunori Ito. The panel was designed by Jean-Pierre Langer and Arne Bartels. The FDE's were created by myself utilizing Gerry Beckwith's Air Wrench. The Paint schemes are my creations.
Notes for Repainters
I've included layered paint kits in each package. I had to create these as the original releases did not include them.
All of the components in this release are Freeware. They are for your personal use. Please do not upload them anywhere.
