This texture represents "Rhapsody in Red" one of the B-17G Flying Fortresses of the 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. The 91th BG, one of the more famous groups in the Eighth Air Force. "The Ragged Irregulars" were based at Bassingbourn, England.
"Rhapsody in Red" Crew Members:1st Lt. Frank L. Adams, Pilot (0763887); 1st Lt. Monte B. Adams, Co-Pilot (0556018); 1st Lt. Harold W. Burts, Bombardier (0772936); 1st Lt. Elmer Gettis, Navigator (0712554). T/Sgt. Clifford M. Schultz, Radio Operator (36744080); T/Sgt. Vivian R. Chowning, Jr., Engineer (33634254); S/Sgt. Gerald L. Block, Waist Gunner (13085771); S/Sgt. Seymour B. Gold, Tail Gunner (32966976); S/Sgt. Joseph F. Sovina, Waist Gunner (33607095); S/Sgt. Roy Bertrand, Ball Turret Gunner (38488949). Rhapsody in Red completed 94 missions. Mr. Schultz believes that the members of this crew may have completed 35 missions. Her last sortie was also the 91st Bomb Group's last sortie on April 25, 1945. She returned to the U.S.A. on May 26, 1945. On November 28, 1945 she was sent to Kingman, Arizona.

(Ski) York, Co-pilot: Lt. Robert G. Emmens, Navigator: Lt. Nolan A. Herndon, Bombardier: S/Sgt Theodore H. Laban, Engineer/Gunner: Sgt. David W. Pohl. The bomb group attacked targets in the Tokyo area. The North American B-25B was not designed or intended for aircraft carrier use, but there they were, sixteen highly modified bombers sitting on the deck of the USS Hornet (CV-8). They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo.The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. The crews were all volunteer, and had no carrier experience, yet all sixteen of the bombers were successful on take-off. Texture, and Damage Files included. They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo. The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. Random Flight Database is a simple and easy to use application.

It will allow you to randomly choose one or more VFR, IFR flights according to your criteria (type of plane, flight time, company, distance, departure airport, .....).

These flights are chosen at random from a default database, a user base created by yourself or according to the world aviation POIs.

Why Use RFD ?

Madonna della Corona Verona Italy N45.39.64 E10.53.34 A sanctuary set in the Rock of Monte Baldo at about 1350 Ft in the Adige valley.The Corona Sanctuary is a place of silence and meditation, suspended between heaven and earth, hidden in the heart of the Baldo rocks. Medieval documents attest that already around the year 1000 in the Baldo area lived hermits linked to the Abbey of San Zeno in Verona and that at least from the second half of 1200 there existed a monastery and a chapel dedicated to S. Maria di Montebaldo accessible through a narrow and dangerous path in the rock. During the sixteenth century the two access stairs still visible were made: the widest, of 556 steps, which from the source of Spiazzi, then called "Fonte dell'Indipendenza", descended to the bridge of the lime tree, and the narrower one, of 234 steps, carved into the rock along the original narrow path that led from the bridge to the church. In 1974 the architect Guido Tisato was entrusted with the task of drawing up a project for a global intervention that envisaged the demolition of the existing Church, the preservation of the most valid and significant parts and the construction of a broader structure. Demolition and reconstruction of the Sanctuary were carried out between 1975 and 1978 and on June 4, 1978 the Bishop Giuseppe Carraro was able to proceed with the dedication of the new Sanctuary and the new altar. In 1982 the sanctuary was given the title "minor basilica". On April 17, 1988, Pope John Paul II visited and prayed to Our Lady of the Crown. File Description:
This airfield is in one of the north-south valleys in the Columbia Mountains (which are part of the Rockies) on the border between BC and Alberta. The town of Golden (population just under 4,000) grew along with the Canadian Pacific Railway and the logging industry, both of which are still the mainstays of the town. Tourism is a more recent development along with the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, which is only 3 miles to the west of the town. There are occasional flights into CYGE related to the richer echelon of tourist groups for Kicking Horse, particularly at the weekends; three actual such flights are included in the AI. Golden CYGE is immediately to the west of the town beside the Columbia River, with the 4,500 feet of asphalt runway aligned 14-32; right hand circuits for 32. There are no runway lights or landing aids, and no taxiway lights, so this airfield is for daylight use only. There is a helicopter company based on the field (Alpine) and a volunteer search and rescue group, a skydiving operation at the northern end, plus an active club with a long open hangar with a club room. A friendly airfield. The AI helicopter was included in my post of Alma CYTF. The Beaver will not show up unless you have the Aerosoft Beaver installed. I found the other planes without a problem on flightsim or avsim. Due to the surrounding terrain AI aircraft will usually impact high ground before landing and then just show up on their parking spots. A northern wind improves but does not totally solve this.
