VAGO Goa/Dabolim Navy, India Download

File Description:
Googly scenery for Dabolim Navy Airport, Goa - a busy Indian military airport also used for civilian flights which is poorly provided for in Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files add taxiways, aprons, buildings and other airport features, so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner. Today Goa is a popular tourist destination, but it does not have its own civilian airport. Instead the ever-increasing number of charter flights use the Indian Navy's airport. But they may only land when the Navy's novice pilots are not pretending the runway is a 11,000 foot aircraft carrier deck so civilian flights have to be packed into short periods (before 9 am and 1 pm to 6 pm) and this leads to the small terminal ramp being literally packed with aircraft at times. All kinds of jets from around the world up to Boeing 747s call here, flown by European and Asian operators like Air Deccan, Air India, Air Sahara, Arkefly, Condor Thomas Cook, Go Air, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Spicejet, SriLankan Airlines, Thomsonfly, Tiger Airways, Transaero and XL Airways along with ATR turboprops on shorter flights with Air Deccan. The Indian Coast Guard has a base here for its aircraft, and the Indian Air Force carry out exercises from time to time with their fighter bombers. The Navy's three-aircraft aerobatic team is also based here. To cope with the increasing traffic, the airport is currently under development and enlargement but details of this are not currently available so this scenery has been created showing the existing arrangements. This, combined with the limitations of Flight Simulator and its parking and taxying arrangements, means that it isn't possible to realistically pack the aircraft all in at busy times. Any overflow of traffic will find itself diverted to the Navy's parking area or even the aircraft museum. However, my observations are that many of the schedules prepared for Flight Simulator do not recognise the limited landing times and the traffic is spread fairly evenly throughout the day, so such overflows should be infrequent. The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. Based on high-detail satellite imagery from Google Earth, the layout is proportionally correct but the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look like the real thing. You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without.

North American T6_Harvard This aircraft has has been constructed using Gmax v1.2. The aircraft is constructed with as few polygons as possible and with a single texture file to ensure the absolute minimum impact on your framerates. There are two models- each has seven LODs. The aircraft has had an amazing history with first prototype flying in 1935. To quote from Wikipedia "A total of 15,495 T-6s of all variants were built.During the Korean War and to a lesser extent, the Vietnam war, T-6s were pressed into service as forward air control aircraft. These aircraft were designated T-6 "Mosquito"s.[1] The RAF used the Harvard in Kenya against the Mau Mau in the 1950s where they operated with 20 lb bombs and machine guns against the gangs. Some operations took place at altitudes around 20,000 ft asl. A Harvard was the longest-serving RAF aeroplane, with an example, taken on strength in 1945, still serving in the 1990s (as a chase plane for helicopter test flights - a role the Shorts Tucano's high stall speed was ill-suited for). The T-6G was also used in a light attack or counter insurgency role by France during the Algerian war in special Escadrilles d'Aviation L�������©g�������¨re d'Appui (EALA), armed with machine guns, bombs and rockets. At its peak there were 38 EALA's active. The largest unit was the Groupe d'Aviation L�������©g�������¨re d'Appui 72, which consisted of up to 21 EALAs. Portugal also used ex-French aircraft during the Portuguese Colonial War. Since the Second World War, the T-6 has been a regular participant at air shows, and was used in many movies. For example, in Tora! Tora! Tora! and The Final Countdown, converted single-seat T-6s painted in Japanese markings represent Mitsubishi Zeroes. The New Zealand Warbirds "Roaring 40s" aerobatic team use ex-Royal New Zealand Air Force Harvards. The Reno National Air Races also has a class specifically for the T-6 during the National Air Races each year." This GMax model is quite fun to fly as a normal aircraft, but was originally designed specifically to enhance the AI aircraft population. I would like to especially thank Ray Blake who has kindly made these high quality textures for this package. A paintkit is being posted as a separate zip file.

California Pacific 2019 AI Flightplans Download

File Description:
California Pacific was the pet-project of eccentric millionaire Ted Vallas who was determined to overcome a near-decade of obstacles to bring scheduled jet service to the Northern San Deigo\Carlsbad area. The airline was founded in 2009, but ran into a laundry list of problems over the years. Initially, the airline had acquired an EMB-170 which was painted in the airlines own colors and kept at the airlines Carlsbad base(CLD\KCRQ). The initial plan called for 3-class service to destinations including SJC, OAK, PHX, SMF, and even SJD. However, a US government shut down ill-timed during the scheduled proving runs and certification process for the airline delayed the process indefinitely. After months of waiting, and paying for staff and the aircraft to the dismay of investors, the E170 was returned and used as a cooperate shuttle in Arizona in full California Pacific colors, though it never would return. The founder did not give up, however, and years later was able to circumvent the certification process by purchasing the operating certificate of ADI's Essential Air Service operation which connected Watertown and Pierre, South Dakota with Denver with a pair of EMB-145s. One of the EMB-145s was painted in full California Pacific colors and used to launch scheduled flights, this time initially to SJC, RNO and LAS with AZA instead of PHX later being added. However, the other EMB-145 was damaged after being struck by ground equipment in Pierre, SD and was grounded for the rest of the airline's life, causing all EAS flights to cancel soon after California Pacific had acquired the flying. The airline was stretched so thin when service started in November 2018 that the departure of a pilot in January 2019 shut the airline down, after just 2 months in operation. Flights were for months considered "suspended", with airport signage being retained at the destinations, but soon after the website was taken down and all hopes of re-starting the company seemed abandoned. These flights are based on an early 2019 schedule I found online, but the EAS flights were not listed. As the flights did not operate anyway for the most part as California Pacific, I elected not to include them. The schedule was changed several times in the airline's short history as it struggled to maintain an aggressive 30 minute ground-time between flights with just 1 aircraft. JELAIR - Maersk Air, Boeing 737-2L9 (OY-MBZ) - version 3 Download

This aircraft (for FSX, with update-patch #2) is a simulated replica of Maersk Air's 'Pocket Rocket' OY-MBZ (a Boeing 737-2L9 a.k.a. 737-200/Advanced) anno 1989. It is designed for a screen-resolution of 1280x1024. Other resolutions have not been tested. It will NOT work correctly in FS2004 (FS9). It has been tested on Windows XP (32bit) and Windows 7 (64bit) only. It is designed to be as realistic as possible, and flight-experience from the real aircraft, as well as large amounts of documentation, have been used to get it as accurate as possible. It has a fairly advanced panel with many systems simulated, such as a passenger oxygen system, a cabin pressure system, anti-skid brakes, EPR control of each engine (with the possibility of asymmetric thrust), IVSI with TCAS, Sperry SP177 autopilot with working CWS and level-change button, active yaw-damper, Quality-of-flight index (so you can see how well you operate the aircraft), windshield wiper, custom flight-computer, automatic Vspeeds for takeoff and landing, takeoff trim calculator, master caution system, PAX simulator (if you make a mistake they may die), a JT8D-17 engine with slow spin-up time (do not idle it on approach). It features a relatively realistic random-failures/error simulation which will trigger, or de-trigger, any of a variety of possible failures/errors (from small gauge-errors to large engine-failures or cabin de-compression). The chance of a failure/error is very low (you may never even get one, but they can happen, so stay alert), maybe less than 1 percent chance per 24 hours of flight-time. It features engine-management simulation, so overheating an engine will cause it to fail (now you actually need to pay attention to the EGT during engine-startup, and have your finger ready at the fuel-cutoff switch just in case you need to save the engine from heat-damage). It features sounds recorded from the actual aircraft (OY-MBZ).

KILE, Killeen Texas airport Download

File Description:
This package covers KILE, Killeen Texas airport. It is a city owned public use airport located 3 miles east of Killeen Texas. It has one runway that is 5,495 x 100 feet. Almost 100 custom objects are included in this package. They include: All hangers and buildings on the airport grounds made from on site photos. Several buildings surrounding the airport grounds. All taxiway and runway signs. All taxiway, runway and approach lighting. ILS antenna, localizer, etc. Fuel tanks and parking T's. Night lighting where appropriate. Currently I am using the default land class instead of photo real because I couldn't find any photo real that suited my needs. I welcome your feedback good or bad. Currently this airport is only for P3D. I may create an FSX version if I have enough requests. I started learning to make 3d objects and airports last year and I am learning something new every day. I hope you enjoy! I plan on improving the night lighting for the runway lights, runway end lights, taxiway lights, etc. to make them more visible from a distance at night. I also want to replace the stock P3D vehicles with my own design and a few other things to come in an updated version down the road.

Instructions:

There are 3 folders in this package; effects, scenery and texture. Create a subfolder under the C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Scenery folder and call this new folder KILE. Place the scenery and texture folders (with their associated contents) under this newly created KILE subfolder. Place only the contents (not the folder) of the effects folder in the P3D effects folder often located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Effects. Now start up P3D. On the menu at the top of the P3D screen click on World > Scenery Library > Add Area. This will bring up the Add Scenery Area dialog box. Click the Browse button and browse to find the newly created KILE folder. It should be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Scenery. Once you select the KILE folder, click the OK button. This will place that folder in the P3D scenery library. You will notice that the library is organized by priority starting at 1. I have my KILE scenery set as #4 priority but I am not sure if it needs to be that high. I did notice during design that sometimes my ground texture at the airport would act strange and I found that by setting KILE to a higher priority, it fixed that. As a last step make sure the checkbox to enable the scenery is checked and click OK. You should now have the new KILE scenery available to use.

CargoJet Flight Plans Download

File Description:
Attached is an Excel Flight Planner including recent (Jan/Feb 2019) scheduled flight plans for CargoJet for use with the CaptainSim 757-III Freighter expansion. A couple of weeks ago, I made two CargoJet liveries for the CS 757-III Freighter, available at Avsim: https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=&Author=meier&CatID=p3dacrp To use these files, copy the attached .rt files to your Captain Sim route directory: *\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Captain_Sim\757-III\Routes\ These accompanying route files (60+) DO NOT include any SID or STAR data, nor do they include any performance information (cargo/fuel weights)...I've intentionally tried to keep these files customizable with any ATC program you may be using. The Excel spreadsheet use should be pretty straight forward (it was designed using MS Excel 2019...you'll need MS Excel 2013 or newer for the macros to work correctly). The spreadsheet will open to a worksheet containing CargoJet's current, scheduled route network. From this worksheet, simply select a departure location from the buttons on the world map. Once a departure location is selected, a second "Flight Planning" worksheet will open with a UserForm Box directing you to select an airport destination based upon your selected departure location. The UserForm box is pre-populated only with current destinations from that departure airport (based upon current CargoJet Jan/Feb 2019 schedules obtained from online flight tracking data). I've included a weather snapshot download from each of the departure and destination airports into the flight planning worksheet. I have not yet included enroute weather information...that may come in a "V2" of this flight planner. As I have not yet included enroute weather information, flight fuel calculations/fuel burn are only approximate for now. Down the road, I may also include calculations for derate temperatures...that will take considerable more work. I think this Flight Planner is a pretty good version 1 for sharing. In the absence of a website dedicated to a "CargoJet Virtual Airline", I thought this Excel spreadsheet and accompanying flight plans may be of benefit to anyone who might enjoy flying the CS757-III Freighter expansion with CargoJet livery. Personally, I was fortunate to already have the full compliment of SimAddon airports (Canada wide) which makes for enhanced enjoyment of the CaptainSim 757-III add-on and this flight planning spreadsheet. (That statement wasn't intended as a promotion for people to go out and buy the SimAddons software!!!) I haven't had a chance to test all the flight plans yet...I'm hoping I haven't made any errors! Anyhow, I hope this spreadsheet and flight plans can be of benefit to others. Feedback always appreciated! Rob February 15, 2019

Sorted POI global cities and airports pack for FSDiscover! Download

File Description:
README: FSDiscover! Global Point of Interest pack. Here is a poi pack of roughly 147 000 cities, 40 000 small airports, 1 177 seaplane bases, 4695 medium airports and 475 of the largest airports. Airports are split up in categories, small, medium, big, seaplane base. Cities are split up into files of 10 000 cities each by size. There are 15 files for cities. The smallest cities are in xaa, xab, xac, xad, and so on. The biggest cities are in xam, xan, until xao. You should open the files in notepad to see for yourself which city files to activate in FSDiscover! to balance clutter and detail. This has been my main problem with the default populated places list; there is no way to sort by population size Compared to the default FSDiscover! populated places here are some notes: I have noticed that in the default FSDiscover! set for europe and many other places, the coordinates are placed like on a "honeycomb" grid which obviously is not very precise. In general, in terms of city map precision, this pack should be better. In the default pack, in an area I am familiar with, a city was placed on the other side of a river compared to reality. In many other areas, you can clearly see that the cities are not well-aligned with Ultimate Terrain europe or even some places in UT USA. My theory is that either data was not super precise for europe to begin with or that the dataset has been arranged in the honeycomb grid fashion perhaps to reduce clutter or something. Mostly though, the default populated places FSDiscover! file is very useful for really small villages since these tend to be forgotten in other datasets. The problems come when you want to filter out smaller villages or airports. This is where this pack comes in handy. Since no data is perfect, you can use this pack alone or in combination with the FSDiscover! defaults. Personally, I put the same files in both "Documents/FSDiscover Files" and "Program Files/FSDiscover" so I can pick and choose a useful combo from relevant sets inside the options. Personally, I prefer the cities from this pack and the rest (mountains, rivers etc.) from the default FSDiscover! pack. INSTALLATION: Just unzip the archived files into "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\FSDiscover Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\FSDiscover!\geodata" or both! I do not know if the geodata folder is completely overwritten some times or not so keep that in mind. Flightplan Visualizer 1.19 Download

Flightplan Visualizer (FV) version 1.19.0. Copyright 2018-2021 by Pelle F. S. Liljendal ([email protected]), all rights reserved. FV comes with 1164 pre-imported AI flightplans (of which +380 are BizJet flightplans, the rest are commercial). However you are able to import additional (AI) flightplans yourself. Once imported these (AI) flightplans can be visualized on a map-view, and the user will be able to search accross all these. Hence you can use the program as inspiration as to which routes to fly. E.g. you can search across all imported flightplans to find all flights in an A321 flying into/out from LDDU, or simply to look for all flights in a Boeing 747-8F. Simply run the included installer to install the software. The program will be installed into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Flightplan Visualizer" and all datafiles will be installed into: "C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\FlightplanVisualizer". The program comes with a full manual explaining everything, and a 3 page quick manual to get you started. The first 3 times you run the program the quick manual will automatically open. Enabling 64-bit adds a memory overhead of approx 50% compared to 32-bit, but its the "price to pay" to have access to more memory (for those of you with many active flightplans loaded into memory at the same time). - FV can now connect to your simulator using FSUIPC (tested both with P3D and MSFS). By default you will have to manually connect/disconnect (using new menu-items in the File-menu). However in settings you can choose to do it automatic. When automatic-connection is selected the connect/disconnect menu-items becomes inactive. - When connected to a sim, the location/heading of your aircraft can be displayed on the map, using an orange aircraft-marker, and hoovering the mouse over this marker will display some key data (GPS-location, altitude, heading, speed and so on). - Added abillity to playback audio-files. In settings you can choose which audio-device to use, and set the volume at which these files are played (defaults to 50%). If volume>0 these files will automatically be played back whenever FV connects to/disconnects from the Sim. - Added additional icons that are automatically selected to indicate when the program is connected to the simulator. Hence the icon in the main-form will indicate if FV is connected to a simulator or not. - In the form for editing (user)-airlines and in the form for searching airlines the context menu now have a menu-item called "Show usage". When selected, it will generate a report showing all the (active) flightplans in which the airline is used. - Added a new "Manual" check-box next to the load-factor when editing user-airlines. This check-box needs to be checked if you want to manually enter a load-factor. When not checked (default) the load-factor will automatically be set to the default value of the selected country. - When editing user-airlines, the airline just added/edited will be visible and selected in the list-view. Likewise when deleting an airline, the previous item will be be visible/selected (in stead of always scrolling to the top afterwards, as in previous versions). - The Insert/Delete keyboard-keys can now be used as shortcuts adding/deleting user-airlines and user-aircraft (both owned and types). - The gate-map context-menu (Airport Info), now allows you to re-center the map (in case your have been panning the map, and can't locate the airport again). - Added a new menu-item/form to calculate head/cross-wind from manually entered flight/runway-heading and wind-direction/speed. Don't forget the runways tab-page in the Airport-info form already calculates this for each runway (and wind-direction/speed is automatically obtained from METAR). - Added a new menu-item/form to convert plain-text into morse-code. There is also a button that lets you listen to the generated morse-code, so you can practice your morse-code listening skills (e.g. entering an ILS/VOR-ident, to know which morse-code to listen for in the aircraft, to verify the correct ident is reqeived). - The "Cruise speed" column have been removed from the aircraft tab-page of the Edit Flightplan form to make more room for the Carrier/Operator-columns. In the past these simply contained the ICAO for the airlines. Now it both contains: ICAO, IATA (if not blank) and Name. - The criteria in the leg-search window now allows you to filter on departure/arrival week-days (e.g. only include flights departing a particular airport on a Saturday or Sunday). - When using the flightplan-filter on the main-form, it will favour the current active flightplan (as in previous versions), however if not able to, it will select the first flightplan included in the filtered list (in stead of choosing "[None]"). - Improved import of AIGFP-flightplans where the airport is not contained within the embedded airport.txt file and is using a different ICAO-code in route-files (observed for "AIG_UTair_Summer2018v6" and "AIG_S7Airlines_Winter2019-2020v3"). - Added runway-info (for both Departure/Destination-airports) to the flightplan leg-report. For ILS-eqiupped runways its lists the ID (both as text, as morse-code), frequency and ils-slope. - Morse-code also added to ILS-ID column on the "Runways" tab-page of the airport-info form. Above the list-view there is also a label showing the morse-code (using a larger font), and next to it there is a button that lets you listen to the morse-code. - Traffic-pattern direction (for take-off and landing) are now displayed for each runway. These data are extracted from the scenery by MakeRunways, hence the info can't be "better" than the info in the scenery (hence most default airports simly shows 'Left'). - Current/peak- memory usage is now logged at various stages while running, and when closing the program. These values can also be observed opening the about-box, which will also forcefully append these values to the log. - When using MkRwy with MSFS it can't obtain the country-name, hence these are taken from the airport-database embedded with FV. However the name for USA ("United States of America") is too long to be shown together with state-name, hence code have beed added it to shorten it to "United States" (which was the default country-name used in FSX/P3D). - Changed font in Comments-box for user-aircraft to a fixed font, in case some users what to enter text "in columns" (e.g. if you make "tables" with speed-restrictions). - Changed the color of the splitter-bars in the Airport-info and leg-search forms to a draker color, to better indicate where it is. - The build-part of the version-number can now be ignored when performing the automatic version-check at start-up. This new setting is by default disabled. If enabled it will ignore changes from version 1.x.0 to 1.x.1 (e.g. an update from 1.19.0 to 1.19.1). However major/minor versions-updates (e.g. from 1.19.x to 1.20.x) will not be ignored. - Fixed: Excessive logging while importing AIGFP flightplans removed (leftover from fixing a bug before the release of version 1.18). - Fixed: When using kg in the leg-info report, the weight of Luggage incl. pax weight (shown in parentees) was wrong. - Fixed: Button to open filter-manual on Gate-page of the Airport-info form was not visible/position was not fixed. - Fixed: The wind-speed obtained from the METAR and used to calc head/tail-wind on the Runway tab-page of the Airport-info form, did not considder the unit (e.g. Khp or meters-per-second). - Data: A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Bruce Nicholson for assistance updating the Airline-database, both with new/missing entries and marking defunct airlines as such. - Data: A lot of "fictios airlines" was added as well. These are used for companies without official ICAO/IATA codes. To indicate they are fictios the ICAO-code is set to "---" and the IATA-code is used to indicate the kind of traffic (e.g. the combination "---/BZ" is used for biz-jet flights). - Data: Also thanks to Bruce for pointing out that a few aircraft were not being detected as they should. So this version should do a better job with Cessna T206H, Cessna Citation SII/S550 and Global 7500. - Flightplans: The bundled AIG flightplans have been updated to the latests versions/revisions available from AIG (there were a few defunct that was removed, a few new versions that was added, and a lot of new revisions being updated). - Flightplans: Eric Steinmetz's Bizjet (AI) flightplans that have previously been available as a separate download are once again bundled with the installer (they are only installed if you choose the option during installation). B17 Flying Fortress Download

File Description:
The B17 is arguably the best known heavy bomber from WWII. Followed closely by it's direct successor the B29 SuperFortress it symbolizes the best of WWII's heavy Bombers. The B17 was one of the planes that barely made it into the war. In 1934 the then very small Boeing company had a prototype four engined bomber design called the B-299 but it had not been ordered by the US military. It had suffered several serious setbacks in it's design competition including a crash during a fly-off. Boeing continued work the plane and eventually secured a small service test order and the troubled early history of the bomber began. The B17 and bombers like it were planes created as "strategic bombers". The essential idea was that a strategic bomber should be able to carry a very large payload for long distances. The military had come to the realization that bombing technology was by nature imprecise even with new advances like the American Norden sight, and what was required was a large number of bombs delivered by large number of planes to assure that a target was destroyed. Although the Germans actually had a decent "smart bomb" and the British built specialty bombs, neither was reliable, so it seemed the best idea was just to blanket the target with bombs. An American extension to this concept was that of a self-defended bomber. Bombers could be built so tough and with so much defensive armament, it was thought, that they could simply fly to the target, drop bombs, and if necessary fight their way through fighters to get home. There would be security in the large number of bombers in formations, and the defensive capability would allow bombers to fly during the day for better accuracy in drops. It was to this design concept the B17 was built. Early experiences in the war with B17's and B-24's could only be termed as disastrous. Loss rates of up to 25% showed the concept of unescorted bombers in daytime to be entirely wrong. Escort fighters were a necessity for success. It soon became apparent that with fighter cover the B17 really was an unparalleled strategic bomber. Success for the B17 shot up dramatically, and it's initial design specifications of huge amounts of armor and gunner positions served it well when fighters did make it close in. The Fortress had enough strength to stave off attackers until escorts showed up, and it became legendary for the incredible punishment it could take and still make it home. Five repaints for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of PBY-5's operated by Qantas on the 'Double Sunrise Service' between Western Australia and Ceylon between 1943 and 1945. In 1943, Royal Australian Air Force personnel were seconded to operate Catalinas under the banner of Qantas. The plan called for flights between Perth, Western Australia, and RAF Base Koggala in southern Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). The flights were the longest non-stop air route of any airline, over 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km) across the Indian Ocean. Navigating without the aid of radio, the crews relied solely on rudimentary navigation by compass and stars during the trip. Only Catalinas had that kind of range, so five PBY-5 flying boats were converted to make them suitable for the trip. They received camouflage paint, with a RAAF roundel on the fuselage, but also a civilian registration, since they were officialy operated by Qantas, and they were named after the stars they would be using for navigation: Vega Star (G-AGFL/FP221 - tail code 1) Altair Star (G-AGFM/FP244 - tail code 2) Rigel Star (G-AGID/JX575 - tail code 3) Antares Star (G-AGIE/JX577 - tail code 4) Spica Star (G-AGKS/JX287 - tail code 5) Taking between 27 and 33 hours, with departure timed so that the flight crossed Japanese occupied territory during darkness, the crews would observe the sunrise twice, which led to the service being known as "The Double Sunrise". The flight route flown was along the coast from Perth to Exmouth then setting out towards Cocos (Keeling) Island or Christmas Island (though neither was actually sighted during the flight) and onto Kogalla, a journey of approximately 3,580 nautical miles (6,630 km). After the success of the initial flights, it was decided to run a weekly service, with some services flying over Rottnest Island and then taking a direct line to Kogalla. As part of the Australia-England air route there was a surface component from Kogalla to Karachi that added considerable time to the service. This was later replaced by the Double Sunrise service, with Karachi to England flown by BOAC. Air crews would change in Kogalla taking the next plane in either direction minimising the time taken to complete the journey. Though stripped of all non-essential equipment, including de-icing equipment and insulation, the average takeoff weight was 15,900 to 16,000 kg; this included 9,040 liters of fuel, which gave the Catalina a range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km). The service made 271 crossings, delivered over 4,500 kg of mail and carried 860 passengers, including among them British MP Edith Summerskill and the journalist Keith Murdoch. 'The Secret Order of The Double Sunrise' was an illustrated certificate given to passengers aboard the flying boats of the Australia-England air link, to attest they had been airborne for more than 24 hours. After the war the five modified Catalinas that had flown The Double Sunrise service were scuttled. Repaints by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Aerosoft
