Essex County Airport (KCDW), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 02 miles N of Caldwell, New Jersey on 275 acres of land, Essex County Airport is a public airport with two asphalt runways, the longest of which is 4552'. Major changes include Runway 9/27 updated to the current 10/28; Runway 4/22 markings are custom made to match the real world, with threshold stripes on Runway 22 only; the beacon has been relocated to its real world location atop the control tower. Additionally, 221 parking locations have been accurately placed around the airport, broken up into 6 sections. See the included airport diagram that labels the various parking areas. 89 of these parking spaces are labeled RAMP_GA and these spaces are occupied by static aircraft. Collision with all static aircraft is disabled but still, if you do not want to start occupying the same space as another airplane, do not choose parking spots labeled RAMP_GA. Instead, all user aircraft should choose either RAMP_GA_SMALL (for wingspans up to 40') or RAMP_GA_MEDIUM (for wingspans up to 60' and only available in East Parking). Also, only 86 of these parking spaces are available for AI aircraft to spawn in. There are hangars available to transient aircraft: the two in South and Southeast parking are able to accommodate small craft with wingspans up to 40'; the one in Northeast parking is able to accommodate larger aircraft with wingspans up to 54'. Helicopters can start either on Taxiway P (South helipad), Taxiway N (North helipad) or in front of the main terminal (East helipad). Fuel is available in both the East and South parking areas by stopping anywhere on the concrete next to the fuel tank/pump. Take note that the runway patterns are both Left and Right and the pattern altitude varies for aircraft type. There are known issues with the AI for this airport, see the ReadMe for more details. Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New York 005. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

Nome PAOM on the northwestern coast of Alaska Download

There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which have good airports and are serviced by Alaska Airlines. From these airports local flights connect to nearby villages, "nearby" in Alaska meaning up to 200 miles away. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel. The town of Nome is south of the Bering Strait on the southern coast of the Seward Peninsula, around 185 miles south of Kotzebue, with a population of about 3,800. It is the town that led to the creation of the most famous dogsledge race in the world, the Iditarod, which is based on the delivery to Nome of diphtheria serum during the blizzard conditions of the winter of 1925. The Nome airport (it currently has no other name) was originally built as the last of the refuelling airfields for planes being ferried to Russia during WW2. It has two runways, aligned 09-27 and 02-20 in FS9 (the wandering magnetic north has recently renamed the magnetic headings) and both of them around 6,000 feet with an ILS on 27. There is a modern airport layout diagram included showing taxiway names etc. Alaska Airlines, ERA, and Bering Air (which is headquartered in Nome), along with the shared cargo terminal for Northern Air Cargo and Everts Air, are all on the southern apron. The northern apron is mainly for GA, along with maintenance facilities, a garage building that also houses a weather bureau, and at the far northern end of runway 02-20 an apron and hanger for the Alaska Air National Guard. All AI aircraft in FS9 much prefer to use a runway that has an ILS and so will continue to use 09-27 even if the wind is from the north or south, right up until it reaches 30+ knots, so for AI realism in FS9 a permanent wind from the west would be the most realistic on a daily basis. There is also a small gravel strip just north of the town and this is included (94Z), as are some old line-of-sight radio communication reflectors on the hills above the town. There is a note about making adjustments to Ultimate Terrain Alaska-Canada regarding both realistic road lighting and also auto-generation.

This is an updated version of the original post, revising and adding to AI, parking, rear fences, paths from apron to hangar doors, etc. The Lockheed Constellation was downloaded from the web site California Classics, and with the knowledge and permission of Tom Gibson the modified plane is included here complete with its Air Alaska textures and a modified .cfg file so that it will imitate a lightly loaded plane and squeeze the landing run to suit the runway length of 10-28. The airfield is in southern Ontario, 55 miles west of Kitchener and 25 miles northwest of London, close to the shore of Lake Huron. The airfield is ex-military and was previously listed as Huron Airpark before being officially named the James T. Field Memorial; for me it will always be Huron Airpark. The field is owned by Goderich Aircraft Inc, a company that fits out aircraft with new interiors including instrumentation, seating, and paint schemes. Their main customers are business jet owners, which is why the AI here is oriented towards Lear etc. There are now two runways in use, the third being closed and marked as such (though still listed in the AI for you to select one to land on). The main runway is 10-28 and just over 5,000 feet. The second runway is 16-34 and 4,400 feet, with only identification numbers and centreline markings. There appear to be no apron lights, taxiway lights or runway signage currently installed. There is a small club hangar (and club room) adjacent to the main apron at the southern end, with GA parking, and there are two large hangars (one new) used by Goderich at the northern end. The remainder of the original large hangars are now in use as light industrial units unrelated to aviation, the most obvious of which is a garbage collection company with numerous parked garbage trucks. One of the hangars adjacent to the apron does incorporate what appears to be a new set of hangar doors (the red one) but it is unclear if this is actually in use for a plane. The control tower is no longer in use, and there is only limited snow clearance in the winter by Goderich; presumably they only clear it when they need to use it themselves.

XP11 German Scenery EDHK 2018+ Kiel-Holtenau Download

The small Zip-file will include a link for scenery download, because the scenery file size is above 500 Mbyte. Just follow the link and download EDHK 2018. This is an "install and fly" version, everything you need is already included (*see info below) and I will continously update the scenery. The story, in November 2012 the German MFG5 (Marineflieger-Geschwader) was relocated to Nordholz (ETMN). This was the end of the main military use in the southern and eastern part of the airport. Because the German harbor city Kiel needs living space for their citizens, opponents of the airport tried to convince citizens and politics to close the airport and to create there living space instead. In 2018 the citizen of Kiel voted with a citizen’s decision with the result that the majority voted for the preservation of the traditional airport. Personally, I am very happy with this decision. On the area of the airport some companies are settled, their employees should be able to sleep a little better now. In addition, there will certainly be future investments in the airport due to the election results. Since the airport has been financially in the red for years, the operator of the airport, the Port of Kiel Flughafen GmbH & Co. KG has converted large areas of the airport as parking area. These parked vehicles are part of the constantly increasing cruise ship operations within Kiel, making it possible for passengers to safely park their vehicles for extended periods of time. The taxiways “A” and “D” of EDHK are no longer in operation. This was of course taken into account in my scenery. The access to this taxiway was marked as in the original by yellow "X". The taxiway lighting was also turned off there. The on-site Luftsportverein (LSV) uses above the runway 08/26 an individually marked grass runway (not official), I called it 08S/26S and it is for the winch launch of their gliders only. The size of this provisional winch runway is about 820x20m. A glider takeoff by towing aircraft is usually handled by the Runway 08/26.(*) There is no copyright infringement, since I have received all the needed permissions to use the listed objects/libraries full or in parts within my scenery, the same for the single objects or non-Library bound objects/elements. I got all these permissions in writing from each individual author/rights holder. Take the time and read the full, included descritpion, please. If you have question, ask me first!

QuickPlan for Windows Download

QuickPlan for Windows is a visual point and click flight planner that makes it easy to generate flight plans in native FSX, FS2004 or X-Plane formats. The entire route is generated visually, by tapping the map to add the departure airport, intermediate waypoints and arrival airport in the same order that you intend flying the plan. During plan creation and after adding the final arrival waypoint you also have the opportunity to remove any of the intermediate waypoints before saving the plan in your preferred format. QuickPlan utilises a new mapping engine and includes 12 world-wide map styles and has support for FSWidgets Cloud Based Aero Charts (free Cuba/Puerto Rico WAC Cloud Based Chart included) and FSWidgets Cloud Based World Nav Data (Free KSFO - San Francisco Bay area Nav Data included). QuickPlan can be used in Freeform Mode, Advanced Mode, or a combination of both. FREEFORM MODE: Simply click anywhere on the map and QuickPlan will allow you to add it as a generic waypoint. VFR pilots often use towns, lakes and other unique geographic features and with QuickPlan you can add any geographical location shown on the base map. Plans created this way label the waypoints automatically with generic names (e.g. DEP, WP1, WP2, ARR). If desired, the entire route from departure to arrival can be created without reference to any navigational aids or official airports. This is handy for bush pilots who often use unlicensed airfields and small landing strips (or seaplane landing areas). Helicopter pilots can also quickly create plans that depart from off-airport locations like building rooftops or land on a road. ADVANCED MODE: If you own the FSWidgets Cloud Based World Nav Data product you can create more advanced flight plans by clicking on any of the icons displayed on the map to add them as waypoints - airports, VOR's, NDB's and intersections (data for the KSFO area is included free). VAGO Goa/Dabolim Navy, India Download

File Description:
Googly scenery for Dabolim Navy Airport, Goa - a busy Indian military airport also used for civilian flights which is poorly provided for in Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files add taxiways, aprons, buildings and other airport features, so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner. Today Goa is a popular tourist destination, but it does not have its own civilian airport. Instead the ever-increasing number of charter flights use the Indian Navy's airport. But they may only land when the Navy's novice pilots are not pretending the runway is a 11,000 foot aircraft carrier deck so civilian flights have to be packed into short periods (before 9 am and 1 pm to 6 pm) and this leads to the small terminal ramp being literally packed with aircraft at times. All kinds of jets from around the world up to Boeing 747s call here, flown by European and Asian operators like Air Deccan, Air India, Air Sahara, Arkefly, Condor Thomas Cook, Go Air, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Spicejet, SriLankan Airlines, Thomsonfly, Tiger Airways, Transaero and XL Airways along with ATR turboprops on shorter flights with Air Deccan. The Indian Coast Guard has a base here for its aircraft, and the Indian Air Force carry out exercises from time to time with their fighter bombers. The Navy's three-aircraft aerobatic team is also based here. To cope with the increasing traffic, the airport is currently under development and enlargement but details of this are not currently available so this scenery has been created showing the existing arrangements. This, combined with the limitations of Flight Simulator and its parking and taxying arrangements, means that it isn't possible to realistically pack the aircraft all in at busy times. Any overflow of traffic will find itself diverted to the Navy's parking area or even the aircraft museum. However, my observations are that many of the schedules prepared for Flight Simulator do not recognise the limited landing times and the traffic is spread fairly evenly throughout the day, so such overflows should be infrequent. The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. Based on high-detail satellite imagery from Google Earth, the layout is proportionally correct but the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look like the real thing. You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without.

JELAIR - Maersk Air, Boeing 737-2L9 (OY-MBZ) - version 3 Download

This aircraft (for FSX, with update-patch #2) is a simulated replica of Maersk Air's 'Pocket Rocket' OY-MBZ (a Boeing 737-2L9 a.k.a. 737-200/Advanced) anno 1989. It is designed for a screen-resolution of 1280x1024. Other resolutions have not been tested. It will NOT work correctly in FS2004 (FS9). It has been tested on Windows XP (32bit) and Windows 7 (64bit) only. It is designed to be as realistic as possible, and flight-experience from the real aircraft, as well as large amounts of documentation, have been used to get it as accurate as possible. It has a fairly advanced panel with many systems simulated, such as a passenger oxygen system, a cabin pressure system, anti-skid brakes, EPR control of each engine (with the possibility of asymmetric thrust), IVSI with TCAS, Sperry SP177 autopilot with working CWS and level-change button, active yaw-damper, Quality-of-flight index (so you can see how well you operate the aircraft), windshield wiper, custom flight-computer, automatic Vspeeds for takeoff and landing, takeoff trim calculator, master caution system, PAX simulator (if you make a mistake they may die), a JT8D-17 engine with slow spin-up time (do not idle it on approach). It features a relatively realistic random-failures/error simulation which will trigger, or de-trigger, any of a variety of possible failures/errors (from small gauge-errors to large engine-failures or cabin de-compression). The chance of a failure/error is very low (you may never even get one, but they can happen, so stay alert), maybe less than 1 percent chance per 24 hours of flight-time. It features engine-management simulation, so overheating an engine will cause it to fail (now you actually need to pay attention to the EGT during engine-startup, and have your finger ready at the fuel-cutoff switch just in case you need to save the engine from heat-damage). It features sounds recorded from the actual aircraft (OY-MBZ).

Consolidated PBY-5A VB-126 #20 Download

A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5a Catalina in the colors of PBY-5a #20 (BuNo 7277) of VB-126 as it looked during a rescue operation on the Greenland ice cap in 1943. On 5 november 1942, a C-53 en route from Iceland to Greenland was reported missing off Greenland's east coast. Four days later, a B-17F, en route for England was aked to to keep a lookout for the missing plane, but it crashed on the ice cap. The crew of suffered only minor injuries, and they soon received food and other supplies that were dropped on the ice. Unfortunately, they had landed in a heavily crevassed part of the icecap, making an evacuation difficult. On 28 november, a USCG Grumman Duck, flown by Lt Pritchard, managed to make a wheels-up landing on the ice and brought out two of the crew. The next day, a ground rescue team arrived on the dite as well, and things looked good.... One crew member and a rescuer died when their sled disappeared in a crevasse, and later the same day, Lt. Pritchard's Duck disappeared as well, with a crew of three. On 6 december, an attempt was made to evacuate the B-17's navigator, Lt. O'Hara, who suffered from gangrene in his feet. One member is the rescue party fell into an crevasse, and the motorsled they were using broke down, so the men had to dig in and wait for help. The days continued until over christmas, but morale was kept high with airdrops whenever the weather permitted. A rescue by sled became impossible however due to bad conditions and heavy snows. Lt.Col Balchen, who had used a PBY the previous summer to rescue the members of the B-17 'My Gal Sal' (currently under restoration in Ohio) of the ice, and was now in charge of the rescue operation, proposed to try the same here. The last summer, the PBY landed on a melt water lake on the icecap however, this time he wanted to belly land the PBY, and nobody knew if the hull could withstand such a battering. In the meantime, a ski-equipped T8P1 aircraft tried the same, but dispappeared over the east coast. The crew members were found five days later in a rubber dinghy. The Navy finally gave permission to try an attempt with the PBY. and two PBY-5a"s were send to airfield BW-8, to wait for the right weather. On 5 febuary 1943, Lt Bernard Dunlop succesfully bellylanded BuNo 7277 / 20 (the above paintjob) at the motorsled camp, and the three survivors were taken on board. It has frozen solid in the ice, but after two hours of hard labor, the crew managed to free the PBY and it took off. Now only the three crew members still at the original site needed to be rescued. A ground rescue party was sent to the wreck to transport the survivors to a spot where the PBY could land, but bad weather prevented any flying until 17 march. On that day, Lt. Dunlop landed on the ice, dropping off Lt.Col Balchen and the rescue party, who reached the wreck the following day. The weather closed in again until finally, on april 5th, Lt Dunlop landed his PBY for the third time on the ice cap. All hands were taken on board, but after five attempts to take off, the starboard engine caught fire. The blaze was extinguished, but repairs were necessary. The next day, they managed to take off, but without the rescue party, to lighten the load. 149 days after their crash, the B-17 crew was finally clear of the ice. It wasn't until 18 may that the last member of the rescue party was finally evacuated, making this a six and a half month rescue operation... FS9 Fort St John CYXJ in BC Canada Download

File Description:
Fort St John is close to the border between British Columbia and Alberta, around 40 miles north-northwest of Dawson Creek. The airport was originally a Royal Canadian Air Force base, associated with the wartime construction of the Alaska Highway. The airfield was part of this construction effort and the wartime ferrying of planes to Russia. It is currently named "North Peace Regional Airport", or "North Peace Airport"; apparently there has been no final decision? The date for this scenery is around 2006. I was given an old video tape cassette which was filmed on an uncertain date, but which had to be before the terminal building was renovated in 2007 and totally changed in appearance. The only way to view the video was to play it in the camera and watch it on a small screen. After I had completed everything except the buildings I started to view the video to establish the building appearances and within an hour or so the camera died. It was so old there was no way to repair it, so I then made some new buildings from memory of the video and what was available online. I also used some that I had already made for other scenery but which were similar. I may replace the terminal building that is in this version with a build of the new one, as I know this one is not a very accurate reproduction. The replacement, if I do it, will be towards the end of this year. The AI included here is for GA, Air Canada Jazz, and two helicopter companies that were (and still are?) based there. One is at the western end of the apron and the other is at the eastern end but separated from the apron. To gain access to the taxiways and runways (so that all airport users follow the same procedures, for safety reasons) the eastern end helicopters just taxi across the grass. The helicopters are used for maintenance trips to the oil and gas fields in the surrounding area. My screenshots show Westjet at the terminal; this is because I have later Canadian AI installed, while the AI included here is only for the time around 2000 to 2010, when Westjet were not flying to Fort St John. The airport is square in plan, with the apron running along the northern side and two runways forming diagonals. The two runways are 11-29 (6,882 feet long and 200 feet wide, with ILS at the 29 end and PAPI at the other) and 02-20 (6,684 feet long and 200 feet wide, and with PAPI at each end). The eastern side taxiway that runs north-south is not used. The western side taxiway is in use but only as a race track for cars. Please email me if you find faults, such as a plane without textures.
