Anahim Lake is around 55 miles east of Bella Coola by air, and clear of the deep and rugged valley that connects the two with a road that is over 75 miles long. The two are also linked by a daily Pacific Coastal flight. A further 150 miles east is Williams Lake (200 miles by road). The town of Anahim Lake is small, but renowned for numerous surrounding fishing lodges on the lakes and the enjoyment of "nature" in what is known as the Chilcotin Wilderness. The Anahim Lake airport is an odd one. It appears to have fallen into disuse over a period of years, but is now in the process of being upgraded, with some new hangars (though oddly situated, and with only dirt track taxiway access) and a recently completed terminal building. There is also a plan to upgrade the runway (lights etc, there are currently no runway or taxiway lights) and in general to greatly improve the facilities on offer. The only current airline to fly there is Pacific Coastal. The runway is just under 4,000 feet of asphalt aligned 13-31 and 75 feet wide. There used to be another runway which is still visible but is now unusable, gravel that has not been maintained for several years. The notes for Anahim Lake airfield in the Nav Canada manual warn of "Extensive float plane activity at Nimpo Lake to the south" and of "possible large animals within the airport perimeter". | Nimpo Lake CF05 in British Columbia, Canada |

Nimpo Lake is less than 10 miles south of Anahim Lake, and is a centre for fishing lodges and other "nature" activities such as hiking and hunting etc. As a result there is considerable float plane activity on the lake as clients are flown in, or out, to other lakes that are nearby, or just on sightseeing jaunts. This one, CF05, is the second of a trio of Nimpo Lake float bases, the one that is close to the "official" CAF8. It is for Stewart's Lodge fishing centre and Tweedmuir Aviation, both of which are included in this posting. The AI Beavers that are based at the CF05 dock in the AI have a colour scheme that is close to that of Tweedmuir. The AI was included in the posting of CAF8, as were the AI Beavers.

This is a new version of the original post from March 2014, made in 2018. It was made mainly to provide some missing textures, but has been modified to also add parked trucks and floodlights to the de-icing area (the floodlights are inoperative as they will not be on when there is no de-icing in progress) and also street and car parking lighting, a few more parked planes, and some further objects on the terminal apron area. The runway approach lighting was also corrected; moving the airport so that the ILS on 29 did not coincide with the roads would have been nice, but meant too many complications at this stage. The scenery is complete in itself and can be installed as-is if you do not have the original post. Grande Prairie is at 2,195 feet asl, 65 miles southeast of Dawsons Creek, 90 miles southwest of Peace River and around 60 miles east of the Rockies. The town has a population of around 55,000 and growing. The name comes from the wide expanse of prairies all around the town, and there is also a large forested area to the southwest leading up to the Rockies which supplies raw material for industries in the town. The airport is just to the west of the town. It was originally a military base, built during WW2. The two runways are 07-25 and 11-29 and 6,200 and 6,500 feet respectively, both 200 feet wide; runway headings had changed by 2010 in real life but take this as it was in 2008. When one is the active runway then the other is used as a taxiway. Taxiway A is very wide with in real life a repaired central section marked out for use.

| Cache Creek CAZ5 in British Columbia Canada |

Cache Creek is a small village of around 1,000 folks on the eastern side of the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, around 70 miles northeast of Pemberton and 40 miles west of Kamloops. The village is in a valley bottom and recently suffered from severe flooding due to the overflow of the river. The airfield is high above the town, with a runway aligned 15-33 and 3,280 feet of asphalt, without runway or taxiway lighting; hence "airfield" as opposed to "airport". I have posted it as Cache Creek CAZ5, but I suggest that you revise the name to perhaps "BC airfields" and just load my future airfield posts into the same scenery and texture folders to avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Plus that way you will have just one FS9 library post to do and new airfields will not need yet another posting. | Gang Ranch CAY2 in British Columbia Canada |

Gang Ranch is on the eastern side of the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, around 50 miles west of Green Lake and 5 miles west of the Fraser River that runs north-south at that latitude (51 degrees 30 minutes north, in round figures). The airfield is among some farm fields and difficult to spot (this will depend on your personal textures and settings) and the ranch buildings are scattered and a mile or two away, the nearest being the owner's house. The runway is gravel, only 1,800 feet long and aligned 08-26 at 2,150 feet above sea level. There is no lighting. I have posted it as Gang Ranch CAY2, but I suggest that you just add it to your previously created "BC airfields" (if you did that) and avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Plus that way you will have just one FS9 library post to do and new airfields will not need yet another posting. | Puntzi Mountain CYPU in British Columbia Canada |

Puntzi Mountain is near a village called Chilanko Forks, approximately midway between Bella Coola and Williams Lake and just north of the Chilcotin to Bella Coola Highway. It is what remains of a military base and which currently shows in FS9 as a town, reduced in my scenery version to what remains after the base was closed and cleared. All that remains of the base is now the runway, over 6,000 feet of asphalt aligned 04-22, unlit, at 2,985 feet above sea level, and with centre line markings that are almost invisible. The runway is used in the summer for whatever local fire-fighting operations are needed by ConAir and there are some buildings and fuel tanks for this. It is also used for local flights such as those for a lodge on Puntzi Lake to the north. I have added three AT-802 textures with additional tail numbers for use in the AI. These are to be added to an aircraft that you very likely already have and which was included in Don Grovestine's posting of Abbotsford CYXX. I have also included the revised config file that adds the planes to Don's original; save the original config under another name and replace it with mine. Put the three new texture folders in with the original, which is called "CYXX-AI_Air Tractor AT-802 (Wheels)". If you do not have Don's scenery I suggest you get it, as his work is worth having and like Greg Putz he puts in a lot more effort than I do. The L188 Electra should already be with you if you downloaded my Smithers CYYD scenery. If you find a defect, email me.

| Fort Graham CBW3 in British Columbia Canada |

Fort Graham is what looks like a very small village on the eastern shore of Williston Lake in northern British Columbia, around 100 miles north of Mackenzie (a previous post). The lake, while not large by Canadian standards, is well over 100 miles long but squeezed in width to a maximum of 5 miles amid the surrounding Rockies. The airfield has a gravel runway of 5,000 feet aligned 13-31 and at 2,230 feet ASL. There is no lighting. The operator of the airfield (and presumably the "village" too) is Finlay River Outfitters, a company that is based in Mackenzie and "outfits" hunting trips in the local area. I have posted this as Fort Graham CBW3, but I suggest that you just add it to your previously created "BC airfields" and avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Up to you. | Colville Lake CEB3 in Northwest Territories Canada |

Colville Lake is a small village of around 150 Dene, located to the northwest of the Great Bear Lake and east of the Mackenzie River, 120 miles north of Norman Wells. The village and the airfield are next to each other and to the lake shore. I recently discovered which of the standard terminal buildings had been used there and this, along with information I already had, enabled me to now make the scenery, which is based on an approximate 2010 date. The gravel runway is lit and around 2,800 feet long, aligned 10-28. North Wright Air serves the village from it's headquarters at Norman Wells with daily flights by de Havilland Twin Otters, or "twotters" as they were quickly named among the northern Canadian airline personnel when they were first produced. The approximate time of this scenery is 2010. While testing this scenery I discovered that Tulita (previously called Fort Norman) which is another Mackenzie River airfield to the south of Norman Wells, needs to be reposted due to a terrain fault. | Silver City CFQ5 in Yukon Territory Canada |

Silver City is a ghost town in the Yukon Territory, Canada, amid the Rocky Mountains and around 35 miles northwest of Haines Junction. It is on the southern end of Kluane Lake and in the Kluane National Park and this probably explains it's (minimal) survival after what appears to have been the shutdown of mining for silver. There is little information readily available. The date of this scenery is, as usual, around 2010. There was no recent regular service by Yukon Air North or any other airline, and the primary user of the airfield adjacent to the lake is a company called Icefield Discovery Tours. Their activity is probably very similar to the company at Haines Junction and involves trips to the National Park amid mountains and glaciers. There is also another organisation at the airfield, the Kluane Lake Research Station of the Arctic Institute. They have four buildings there but it is unclear how much aerial activity they generate, or if in fact they fly at all for their work. The runway is 3,000 feet of unlit gravel, aligned north-south. This post will be followed by Burwash, which is at the far northwestern end of the lake. There is no video of the Silver City airfield on Youtube, and it is not the most exciting airfield in the world, but the location is enough in real life for a visit to be made. On YouTube there is a series of posts by Angle of Attack showing the preparation and then the flight of an old Cessna 172 from Homer to Oshkosh for the installation of modern instruments. Interesting for me as they visit or fly over airfields I have made: Homer, Merrill, Tok Junction, Burwash, Silver City, Haines Junction, Watson Lake, Fort Nelson, and Grande Prairie. But they fly in the winter so it all looks very different.
