Black Cat Catalina PBY5/5Av1.1 for x-plane

File Description:
This update includes improvements to the fuselage shape, addition of retractable wing floats using wheel farings, an improved but not custom panel, improved prop efficiency and more. The PBY Catalina is probably the best known flying boat with over 4000 produced by Consolidated aircraft and licensees. The Black Cat squadrons all done in flat black played havoc particularly for the Japanese in the Pacific. Fitted with radar, with a 15 hour endurance and 2800 mile range they hunted Japanese naval ships by night and bombed or torpedoed them by the hundreds up. There are 6 engine nacelles used in the model, 2 represent the 1200 HP radial engines driving the props, the others are jets with 5 lbs of thrust, 1 is used for the rear fuselage section, 1 is used for the wing pylon, 1 is used for the flare from the fuselage to the vertical stabilizer and the last is used for the forward observation and gunner space. Two are not used. Wing sections are taken up by the main wing and the support spars so there you go. The fuel tanks are used for the side gunner pods since these can be decorated separately. The plane flies very well and is stable as a rock. Takeoffs from water are quite easy as long as you don't dip a wing tip (no floats remember). P-61B BLACK WIDOW for x-plane 6.4/6.51 The need for a true night fighter aircraft was well demonstrated during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Aircraft used to counter German night attacks were not very effective. At the direction of the Air Corp's Carl A. Spaatz, John Northrop submitted a ground up night fighter design, which, designated as the XP-61, first flew on May 26, 1942. The Black Widow was the first aircraft designed from the ground up as a night fighter. Its innovative slotted flaps and spoiler ailerons allowed operation from short airstrips and improved handling; the radar carried in its nose made it the dominant force in the night skies of Europe and the South Pacific. From July 6, 1944, when it claimed its first victory, to war's end, the P-61 distinguished itself as one of America's most unique fighting machines. After the war, P-61s were used in reconnaissance, weather research, and flight testing. The first American flight ejections were made from a P-61. Only four P-61 aircraft are known to exist today. F-111F Aardvark v1.1

File Description:
F-111F Aardvark v1.1 for X-Plane 6.40/6.51 - After a prolonged gestation period in which many, many problems had to be identified and fixed, the F-111 turned out to be one of the most effective all-weather interdiction aircraft in the world. Although vilified by some as being an unsafe and dangerous plane, the F-111 series of aircraft established the best safety record of any of the aircraft in the Century Series of fighters with only 77 aircraft being lost in a million flying hours. There was no other aircraft in service with the USAF which can carry out the F-111's mission of precise air strikes over such long ranges in all-weather conditions. Although the aircraft has left USAF service, it still serves with distinction with the Royal Australian Air Force and may very well continue until 2020. The original concept for the F111 was for both a USAF and US Navy version. Weight problems led to cancellation of the Navy version in 1968. The F111 was the first swing wing fighter, the first with a side by side escape capsule for the operators and the first able to cruise at over mach 1 without after burning. It was also the first bomber with greater than mach 2.5 capability. The F version has a wingspan of 63.0 ft. spread, a length of 73.5 ft. and is powered by two 25100 lb static thrust engines with afterburning. Gross takeoff weight is 100,000 lb., maximum ordinance 31,000 lb and internal fuel 5025 USgal. Range is greater than 2500 nm with internal fuel and service ceiling is above 60000 ft.

B29 Superfortress

File Description:
The Boeing B-29 was designed in 1940 as an eventual replacement for the B-17 and B-24. The first one built made its maiden flight on September 21, 1942. In December 1943 it was decided not to use the B-29 in the European Theater, thereby permitting the airplane to be sent to the Pacific area where its great range made it particularly suited for the long over-water flight required to attack the Japanese homeland from bases in China. During the last two months of 1944, B-29s began operating against Japan from the islands of Saipan, Guam and Tinian. With the advent of the conflict in Korea in June 1950, the B-29 was once again thrust into battle. For the next several years it was effectively used for attacking targets in North Korea. The B-29, named Enola Gay is the airplane from which the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in August, 1945. SPECIFICATIONS Span: 141 ft. 3 in. Length: 99 ft. 0 in. Height: 27 ft. 9 in. "Firefox" for x-plane 6.40 is a mythical mach 4.1 spy plane, built strictly for speed, with a high lift to drag ratio of 5.9 to 6 even above mach 4. At 80000 feet it can cruise at mach 4 for 12000 nm. With a gross wt. of 71000 lb. and fuel capacity of 47000 lb. it is a flying fuel tank built strictly for reconnaissance and photography. The plane is very stable and easy to fly at all altitudes up to about 85000 feet.

Foxbat Stealth Bomber

File Description:
Forget that the leading edge temperature going mach 4 at 75000 feet is about 640 degrees C and concentrate on flying this mach 4.25 stealth bomber which I have dubbed the "foxbat". With a range of more than 15000 nm at 75000 ft. at mach 4 it can outperform any of todays planes. The plane is very stable and easy to fly at all altitudes up to about 75000 feet. To get maximum range at high altitude engage 1st flap position after reaching 60000+ feet; this increases lift to drag ratio to over 8.

F8F Bearcat

File Description:
F8F for x-plane v6.7 - With its 2250 + HP engine it requires a lot of skill to just get this bird into the air. The F8F bearcat was the last propeller fighter aircraft made by grumman. Deployed very late in the war, the first squadron of bearcats were on their way to japan when WWII ended. Although they never saw service in WWI they were used in Korea. At least 24 US Navy squadrons flew the Bearcat, some until as late as 1952. With a maximum speed of 421 mph it was one of the fastest aircraft of WWII. Place the Weapons files in the Weapons folder.
