Airstrips of Scandinavia and the Baltic States Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Effectively an extension of my "Airstrips of Western Europe" project for FS2004, around 140 sceneries of small airfields in Scandinavia and the Baltic states, each enhanced with buildings, taxiways, parking spaces and aprons as appropriate, to further facilitate the generation of lightweight AI traffic in the area, without overloading the more major airfields. Given the available comprehensive coverage of both Norway and Finland by other authors, and much of Denmark by myself in my earlier "Airstrips of North-West Europe" upload, this selection comprises mostly small Swedish and Baltic State airfields. Unfortunately, due to the very nature of much of the area, some of these airstrips are just that, a grass/dirt runway on a flattened/mown area in the landscape with just an associated building or two. Nevertheless, they do perform the required function of providing sources for AI traffic. The very existence of those airstrips not included in FS2004 is referred to in various on-line databases. Again, there's no photo-realism here, just a selection of basic 'generic' buildings, more or less accurately sized and placed to reflect the airfield layout as seen on on-line satellite imagery and aerial photography. These buildings have minimal effect on frame-rates, so are ideal for this kind of job. The airfields are aligned as well as possible with the roads etc. in UT Europe (where applicable) and the Genesis Europe mesh, but should mostly be fine in a default installation or other configuration. Please read the rest of this "blurb" in the included text file. There may be some details of note or interest.

De Havilland DH-82 Tiger Moth (ZK-AQA & ZK-AYE) Nelson Aero Club Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains two repaints for Ant's DH-82 Tiger Moth Pro for P3DV4+. It shows two Tiger Moths of the Nelson Aero Club in New Zealand, ZK-AQA and ZK-AYE. ZK-AQA, which was built in Hatfield and assembled in New Zealand in 1940 as NZ863. It was sold to a Mr. J. Reid in 1947. In 1950 it went to the Nelson Aero Club, and is shown in their service in this repaint. After several owners it wound up with the Auckland Gliding Club in 1961. In 1965, it crashed on take-off while towing a glider and it was damaged. Its remains were stored, but I'm not sure if they are still around. ZK-AYE came from RAF stocks and was previously R4978. It was built at Hatfield and assembled in NZ. It was shipped to New Zealand on "SS Rangitata" and BOC Unit 18 Rongotai 03 June 1940 and flew with No.3 EFTS, Harewood 1943-1944. After the war, it was issued free to Nelson Aero Club from Taieri on 15 September 1949 and entered the New Zealand Civil Aircraft Register as ZK-AYE on 02 February 1951. It was sold to A. Blechynden on 28 October 1957. The transfer was not notified to the CAA who cancelled it from the register on 28 November 1957. It rejoined the register with the new allocated registration of ZK-BVK in January 1958 and went to W. Scottof Karangahua in 1958. Unfortunately, it broke up in flight 10 miles north of Otorohanga on 07 May 1958 killing pilot and passenger. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Anthony Lynch

VOBL_P3Dv5 Download

File Description:
Kempegowda International Airport (IATA: BLR, ICAO: VOBL) is an international airport serving Bangalore, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, in the Southern part of India. Spread over 4,000 acres (1,600 ha), it is located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of the city near the suburb of Devanahalli. It is owned and operated by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), a public–private consortium. The airport opened in May 2008 as an alternative to increased congestion at HAL Airport, the original primary commercial airport serving the city. It is named after Kempe Gowda I, the founder of Bangalore. Kempegowda International Airport became Karnataka's first fully solar powered airport developed by CleanMax Solar.[5][6] Kempegowda Airport is the third-busiest airport by passenger traffic in the country, behind the airports in Delhi and Mumbai, and is the 29th busiest airport in Asia. It handled around 33.30 million passengers in the calendar year 2018 with 658 aircraft movements a day. The cargo handled by the airport continues to increase steadily, with the airport handling about 386,849 tonnes (426,428 short tons) of cargo between April 2018 and March 2019.[7] The airport consists of two runways and a passenger terminal, which handles both domestic and international operations. The second runway, constructed by Larsen & Toubro, was commissioned on 6 December 2019.[8][9] A second terminal is in the early stages of construction. Also, there is a cargo village and three cargo terminals. The airport serves as a hub for AirAsia India, Alliance Air, and IndiGo and is a focus city for Air India and SpiceJet. Note: All terminal buildings credit goes to thomlinden. It's freeware scenery.

Nulato NUL in Alaska Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Nulato is a small village on the west bank of the Yukon River, around 8 miles south of where the river turns from north-south to east-west, east being upstream towards the distant Fairbanks. The population is just under 300 and living from fishing and the land. During the late 1800's the village lived by the spin off from gold mining, such as supplying cut wood as fuel for the boats plying the Yukon River. In 1900 a measles epidemic cut the population down by a third, and in the early 1900's the gold mining moved to Nome and Fairbanks, with obvious results for local prosperity. The airfield is close by and has a gravel runway aligned 2-20 and just under 4,500 feet long. Apart from the airfield itself, and it's buildings, this scenery modifies the local land class, adds village buildings while reducing the village size to reality, and creates a new airfield background. Don't ask me about the odd arrangement of the airfield buildings, I have no idea why they are like that. Nulato is served by Wright Air from Fairbanks in the east and this is included in the AI. A note here about my scenery making. This is post number 508 and there will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes. There is a limit to what can be located online and I have already been making use of the little there is; eg Unalakleet. So, if you are near an airport (preferably Canadian or Alaskan) and have a camera..... Let me know.

Golden CYGE in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This airfield is in one of the north-south valleys in the Columbia Mountains (which are part of the Rockies) on the border between BC and Alberta. The town of Golden (population just under 4,000) grew along with the Canadian Pacific Railway and the logging industry, both of which are still the mainstays of the town. Tourism is a more recent development along with the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, which is only 3 miles to the west of the town. There are occasional flights into CYGE related to the richer echelon of tourist groups for Kicking Horse, particularly at the weekends; three actual such flights are included in the AI. Golden CYGE is immediately to the west of the town beside the Columbia River, with the 4,500 feet of asphalt runway aligned 14-32; right hand circuits for 32. There are no runway lights or landing aids, and no taxiway lights, so this airfield is for daylight use only. There is a helicopter company based on the field (Alpine) and a volunteer search and rescue group, a skydiving operation at the northern end, plus an active club with a long open hangar with a club room. A friendly airfield. The AI helicopter was included in my post of Alma CYTF. The Beaver will not show up unless you have the Aerosoft Beaver installed. I found the other planes without a problem on flightsim or avsim. Due to the surrounding terrain AI aircraft will usually impact high ground before landing and then just show up on their parking spots. A northern wind improves but does not totally solve this.

B25-B Mitchell Doolitte's Raiders "Hari Carrier" A/C No. 40-2249 for The B24 Guy's OH Download

File Description:
B25-B Mitchell Doolitte's Raiders "Hari Carrier" A/C No. 40-2249, April 18, 1942. Painted over The B24 Guy's B25 Mitchell Overhaul Model. This was mission plane #11, nicknamed The Hari Carrier. Pilot: Capt. C. Ross Greening, Co-Pilot: Lt. Kenneth E. Reddy, Navigator: Lt. Frank A. Kappeler, Bombardier: S/Sgt. William L. Birch, Flight Engineer/Gunner: Sgt. Melvin J. Gardner. The bomb group attacked targets in the Tokyo area. The North American B-25B was not designed or intended for aircraft carrier use, but there they were, sixteen highly modified bombers sitting on the deck of the USS Hornet (CV-8). They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo. The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. The crews were all volunteer, and had no carrier experience, yet all sixteen of the bombers were successful on take-off. Although little physical damage was inflicted on Japan, that day, the Japanese populace was demoralized, as suddenly, the war was brought to their homeland. Note the nose art. Texture, and Damage Files included. Note the three windows in both port and starboard bulkheads. By revev. Enjoy!

Consolidated PBY-5 RNZAF 6 Sqn XX-W Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of NZ4020 XX-W of the RNZAF. Bu08435, it flew with 6 Flying Boat Squadron. Following Japan's entry into the war in December 1941, the RNZAF had to switch from primarily training pilots to Europe into a combat force. No. 6 Squadron RNZAF was formed as an army co-operation unit at Milson in February 1942 flying Vickers Vildebeest and Hawker Hind aircraft. At the same time, No. 5 Squadron RNZAF moved to Fiji with Short Singapores and Vickers Vildebeest and Vincent biplanes. Modern maritime patrol flying boats (and more Hudson light bombers) were requested under Lend Lease and when the first Consolidated Catalinas arrived a detachment of men from No. 5 Squadron was assigned to convert to these types as No. 6 Squadron. Before the squadron was officially formed these men successfully completed their first air-sea rescue of a downed US aircrew. From May 1943 No. 6 squadron undertook action against the Japanese. The Squadron also conducted search and rescue missions for allied aircrew and seamen, and undertook many open sea rescues. XX-W arrived in Fiji on 21 October 1943. On February 18, 1944 it took off on a dumbo rescue mission to north Buka Island and landed to rescue two crew members and pick up a dead body from the crash of B-25, and successfully returned them to Halavo. On 26 May 1945, it stalled on landing at Hobsonville and was towed to its mooring by a crash boat. The induced damage resulted in the aircraft being written off charge on 18 June 1945. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Aerosoft

Airstrips East of the Adriatic Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
A collection of about 60 small airfields in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia & Montenegro, many of which aren't featured in FS2004, each enhanced with taxiways, parking spaces, buildings etc. and aprons as appropriate, to fill in a few gaps to the east of Italy. Most of these airfields are relatively "rural", often little more than a shed and a grass runway in a field, but they allow the generation of lightweight GA AI traffic in this area and into the adjacent countries.Again, there's no photo-realism here, just a selection of basic 'generic' buildings, more or less accurately sized and placed to reflect the airfield layout as seen on on-line satellite imagery and aerial photography. These buildings have minimal effect on frame-rates, so are ideal for this kind of job. The airfields are aligned as well as possible with the default roads etc. and the Genesis Europe mesh, but should mostly be fine in a default installation or other configuration. As before, the files for each airfield can be easily identified by the ICAO code, even if the airfield names vary slightly, so you can pick and choose and mix and match to suit any sceneries you already have, should you so wish. There is no requirement for any other download. Each airfield will exist as a stand-alone entity should you only want a few of them. A few default airfields have had new ICAO codes allocated, in these instances I've provided files to remove the default scenery from the landscape, though the original airfield will still appear on the maps and menu.

CPR5 - Woodstock - Ontario, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is the first of a south Ontario series. Woodstock is a town with a population of around 38,000, located 50 miles west of Lake Ontario. The airfield is 3 miles west of the town, with a single grass runway just over 3,000 feet long and 100 plus feet wide, aligned 05/23 in FS9 (in fact it is now 06/24 due to the magnetic north wandering off during the last 10 years). There have been at different times varying amounts of gravel mixed in with the grass on both runway and taxiway; the majority surface by far is grass and I have left it all as such, as there is no visually convincing way to mix the two without unreal sharp edges. The apron is on the northern side of the runway, and is now modified in shape to maximise the area available for crops. There are 10 "T" hangars and a small clubhouse in a single long building. There is no fuel, runway lighting, or taxiway or apron lights so usage is effectively restricted to daylight hours. To the east of CPR5 and on the edge of the town is a private airstrip with 2,800 feet of asphalt runway; I have added this as a visual reference, along with several large grain silos on the other side of the road. Hidden in plain sight amid the surrounding farmland, the first sighting of CPR5 is actually always of the adjacent and far more visible buildings just to the east of the apron, which are owned by a company that deals with everything to do with boats, up to and including fishing gear. These have been included. As ditches cannot be effectively duplicated in FS9 I have included some fences which do not exist in real life, to give some needed visual clues.
