| B25-B Mitchell Doolittle's Raiders A/C No. 40-2298 for The B24 Guy's OH |
|
File Description:
B25-B Mitchell Doolittle's Raiders A/C No. 40-2298, April 18, 1942. Painted over The B24 Guy's B25 Mitchell Overhaul Model. This was mission plane #6. Pilot: Lt. Dean E. Hallmark, Co-Pilot: Lt. Robert J. Meder, Navigator: Lt. Chase J. Nielson, Bombardier: Sgt. William J. Dieter, Flight Engineer/Gunner: Sgt. Donald E. Fitzmaurice. The bomb group attacked targets in the Tokyo area. The North American B-25B was not designed or intended for aircraft carrier use, but there they were, sixteen highly modified bombers sitting on the deck of the USS Hornet (CV-8). They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo. The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. The crews were all volunteer, and had no carrier experience, yet all sixteen of the bombers were successful on take-off. Although little physical damage was inflicted on Japan, that day, the Japanese populace was demoralized, as suddenly, the war was brought to their homeland. Enjoy!

San Diego Scenery Package
for X-Plane v6.51+v7.XX
by Bill Moore
January 3, 2004
Here is a new San Diego scenery package that I designed for my personal use. I have had numerous requests to do more cities and airports so this is my first free scenery for 2004. Being the lazy person I am, no research was done and no claim to real life designs are implied.
I have added many objects to the airports and cities including terminals, hangers, buildings, stadiums, balloons, city scapes and other fun and interesting things. All of which were begged, borrowed or stolen from all the wonderful designers in the X-Plane Community such as Ken Spiker, Christian Franz, Ted Davis, Robert Bunce, Tom Curtis, B. Brooks and all the others who have inspired me. Many thanks to each of you for your contributions to the X-Plane community.
Like all my scenery packages, the additions to the citys and airports are purely fictional. The airports themselves are unaltered. I have enhanced "San Diego Intl.-Lindburg Fld. (KSAN), "North Island NAS. (KNZY), Miramar MCAS (KNKX), Imperial Beach NOLF (KNRS), General Abelardo L. Rodriquez Intl. (MMTJ) and a few other near by airports. A special thanks to Ted Davis for creating the orignal San Diego scenery that led me to adding to his great work. Also, Ken Spikers new KWIKCITYS package contributed to the completion of my version of San Diego and surrounding areas. His cities really added the crowning touch. Thanks Ken. If I inadvertently left out other object designers, it was purely unintentional and I offer my apologies.
Installation: Place the extracted "San Diego" folders in your "Custom Scenery" folder.
Please send any comments or suggestions to [email protected]. If you choose to rate my Scenery Packs and give less than a "9" rating, I would appreciate knowing what I can do to improve them. I can only do that with your feedback.
Have fun and FLY SAFE!

| Boeing B-17G 91st BG (LL-E) "Shoo shoo shoo baby" |

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, which rolled off Boeing's production line in Seattle in march 1944. This was around the transition from camouflaged to bare metal aircraft, which led to the odd situation that the datablock was stencilled onto a OD panel, while the rest of the aircraft was left bare metal. This was because the datablock was sprayed on right at the beginning of production. The aircraft was assigned to the 401st BS of the 91st BG, and was collected at the depot in Burtonwood by Paul McDuffee, who was so impressed with its smooth handling that he asked to be assigned to it. The aircraft was named by its crew chief, Hank Cordes, and was named after a popular song by the Andrews Sisters. Originally, the name was 'Shoo shoo baby', applied in gothic letters, which was later replaced by a Vargas girl and an additional 'shoo', painted by Cpl. Tony Starcer. McDuffee flew 13 missions with 076, before completing his tour of duty. On completion of his last flight, he buzzed the airfield and flew so low that fencing wire became entangled in the tail wheel. On the plane's 23rd mission, on 29 may 1944, Lt. Robert Guenther was flying 076 on a raid to Poznan when he suffered engine failure on one engine, and a while later, flak knocked out a second engine. 'Shoo shoo shoo baby' started to fall behind, and when a third engine started to falter, Lt Guenther decided to turn to neutral Sweden, with the crew jettisoning all loose equipment. A group of FW190's closed in, but did not open fire, peeling away. By the time 076 reached Bulltofta airfield near Malmö, it had only one engine left, but it did manage to perform a safe landing. The crew were interned, and the aircraft was impounded. The crew returned to the UK in October 1944, and 'Shoo shoo shoo baby' would later tour the world...

File Description:
Continuing my new free releases for this year, here is my London 2004 scenery package that I designed for my personal
use but now I want to share it with the community. I have had numerous requests to do more cities and airports so this is my third scenery for 2004. Being the lazy
person I am, no research was done and no claim to real life cities and airports is intended or implied.
I have added many objects to the airports and cities including terminals, hangers, buildings, castles, city scapes and
other fun and interesting things. All of which were culled from all the wonderful designers in the X-Plane Community
such as B. Brooks & Christian Franz, Ted Davis, Tom Curtis, Ralph Glass, Tim Chandler, Didier Chauveau and all the
other hard working and exceptionally talented designers who have inspired me. Many thanks to each of you for your
contributions to the X-Plane community.
Like all my scenery packages, the additions to the citys and airports are purely fictional. The airports themselves are
unaltered. I have enhanced London Heathrow (EGLL), London Gatwick (EGKK), London City (EGLC) airports and of
course the city of London . A special thanks to Robert Bunce for his NYEXPRO packages and Ken Spiker for his
KWIKCITIES package. If I inadvertently left out other objects and scenery designers, it was purely unintentional and I
offer my apologies.
All airports and cities come with Night Textures. Flying at dusk and dawn will add additional enjoyment to your
experience. You may want to experiment with your Autogen settings for best results. I turn mine way down in the
rendering settings so that autogen buildings don't sit on top of custom objects and roads. It will improve framerates as
well.
Installation: Place the extracted "London 2004" folder into your "Custom Scenery" folder. I have included apt.dat files
for v6.70 and v7.30. Keep the apt.dat file for your particular XP version. Apt.dat files are different formats for v6 and v7.
Please send any comments or suggestions to [email protected]. If you choose to rate my Scenery Packs and
give less than a "9" rating, I would appreciate knowing what I can do to improve them. I can only do that with your
feedback.
My Other Free Scenery Packages are:
Charlotte-Rock Hill,
Houston-Galveston,
Iraq,
Nice, France,
San Diego 2004,
San Francisco 2004.
