Chance-Vought F-8 Crusader (Part 1). I present a comprehensive AI traffic model package for this classic aircraft of modern military history.
This is an original 8-LOD model, with many animations and features thanks to a growing confidence in XML-coding and making FSDS work for me instead of the other way around.
Nicknamed "The Last Gunfighter", this aircraft was the last production aircraft for the US Navy and Marine Corps which used guns as primary armament, and was in service at the twilight of this age, as well as the dawn of the missile age. Like all combat-experience aircraft, it had a relatively short life during its operational use (only about twenty years or so as a fighter), but was used a little longer as a recce aircraft; and beyond that in export service to France and the Philippines. The Crusader was used extensively in combat operations in Vietnam, played a crucial role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and gave the newer F-4 Phantoms a fair run for their money in terms of air combat capability during this time.
This is part one of this model series, covering the F-8A, F-8B, and F-8C base models; with a total of 16 model options and a staggering 65 individual squadron paints. I am fairly confident that if any operational squadron of the USN and USMC used this aircraft from the late 50s to the late 60s, it is covered here at some time frame. Subsequent releases will include the later USN/USMC models, as well as the French and Philippine exports. Extensive credits and instructions are in the documentation. It is interesting to note that the 'elderly' F-8 Crusader had a better kill overall ratio in air combat in Vietnam than its F-4 successor.
This is part three of this model series, covering the F-8J, F-8K, F-8L, RF-8A, and RF-8G base models; with a total of 25 model options and 56 individual unit paints. I am fairly confident that if any operational squadron of the USN and USMC used this aircraft from the late 50s to the early 80s, it is covered in this project at some time frame. I am proud to present this very special Alaska Airlines Embraer E175LR, operated by Horizon Air, registration N651QX. This E175LR is the third "Honoring Those Who Serve" aircraft in the Alaska Airlines fleet which pays tribute to US military members, veterans, fallen soldiers and their families. Its unique exterior paint scheme, conceived by a small group of Alaska maintenance technicians, was designed to honor those who serve today, and those who served in the past. The design includes; A red stripe and blue aircraft body to incorporate elements of the American flag, the phrase "Honoring Those Who Serve," displayed on the fuselage, symbolic crests representing the Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier Program on the starboard side rear cargo door and on the port side of the aircraft behind the aft service door, a "Horizon Air Salutes" medallion near the nose of the aircraft on both sides with the five stars, winglets in red, white and blue representing the flag of the United States and five gold stripes on the engine cowls representing the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. There is also a Sidney Sheldon quote next to the forward passenger entry door reading “My heroes are those that risk their lives to protect the world and make it a better place.â€
The repainted textures in this package are 32-bit with no mipmaps for best clarity and quality. All of the medallions are hand painted. This is the Version 3 model of the FeelThere Embraer 175. You must own a copy of the Feelthere E-JETS E175 and E195 V3 to enjoy this repaint.

This was requested by Carl Lyndon Nepomuceno on Facebook.
If there is a tutorial online on how to make bare metal textures, I would totally make it by hand. Unfortunately there are none, and I mean like nothing at all. There was no complete tutorial or video on how to make that said texture, so I used AI to create one. I still have to sort a lot of things out like removing some of the belly and the back. There are also limited sources, both for references and decals. I made the "NORTHWEST ORIENT CARGO" Text using a Helvetica font from Fontsgeek, made my own letter "S" and used it for my livery. I had a previous version where I just used the text from a high quality Flickr photo, removed the background and added color. The references are limited for the "NORTHWEST CARGO" Livery specifically, as it seems like there are only 2 available photos of N618US with that exact livery. One in Facebook and another from Flickr (if I can remember). I also am not sure if the "CARGO" Text is a very dark shade of blue, or just black. If someone could verify that it is black, feel free to contact me so I can change it!
After this, I'll make the N800FT and N801FT liveries, but I would still have to make the JA822J 787-8 "Old Livery" of JAL.
The Livery 2 is the livery in 1977 while Livery 1 is 1979, so I may have accidentally switched it! But it is too late now...

Here is a new San Diego scenery package that I designed for my personal use. I have had numerous requests to do more cities and airports so this is my first free scenery for 2004. Being the lazy person I am, no research was done and no claim to real life designs are implied.
I have added many objects to the airports and cities including terminals, hangers, buildings, stadiums, balloons, city scapes and other fun and interesting things. All of which were begged, borrowed or stolen from all the wonderful designers in the X-Plane Community such as Ken Spiker, Christian Franz, Ted Davis, Robert Bunce, Tom Curtis, B. Brooks and all the others who have inspired me. Many thanks to each of you for your contributions to the X-Plane community.
Like all my scenery packages, the additions to the citys and airports are purely fictional. The airports themselves are unaltered. I have enhanced "San Diego Intl.-Lindburg Fld. (KSAN), "North Island NAS. (KNZY), Miramar MCAS (KNKX), Imperial Beach NOLF (KNRS), General Abelardo L. Rodriquez Intl. (MMTJ) and a few other near by airports. A special thanks to Ted Davis for creating the orignal San Diego scenery that led me to adding to his great work. Also, Ken Spikers new KWIKCITYS package contributed to the completion of my version of San Diego and surrounding areas. His cities really added the crowning touch. Thanks Ken. If I inadvertently left out other object designers, it was purely unintentional and I offer my apologies.
Installation: Place the extracted "San Diego" folders in your "Custom Scenery" folder.

File Description:
This is a AFCAD2 file for the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. I tried to make the airport as realistic as possable with what is given to me with FS9. Gates 1 and 3 is Delta Connection from Cincinnatti, New York-LGA, and Dallas/Ft. Worth. Gates 5 and 7 are Delta from Atlanta, Gate 2 &2a are Continental Express (Expressjet) From Houston-Bush, and Newark, Gate 4 is Northwest (Mesaba and Pinnacle) from Detroit, Memphis, and Minneapolis, Gate 6 is Independence Air flights from Washington-Dulles (Make sure you have your Independence Air planes coded to BLR. That is what I have the gate coded to which is correct in real life.). Gate 8 is AirTran flights from Atlanta (I also have TRSX AirTran Jet Connect. They no longer fly, but I have them on my AI so I left it in.). Gates 9 and 11 are USAir (Gate 9 being USAir mainline and CRJ-200 flights from Charlotte, Philly and Pittsburgh and Gate 11 being CRJ-200 flights and Dash 8 flights Charlotte, Boston and New York-LGA.). And finally Gate 10 is United Express (Air Wisconsin) flights from Washington-Dulles and Chicago-O'Hare. At the old terminal I have the FedEx, and Airbourne Express/DHL areas, as well as the GA "terminal". North of that is the 165th Airlift Wing National Guard area with parking for their C130's, F-16's, F15's, and their F-18's. I do not have the jetways on yet, however they are done except for the Delta gates....look for them soon. I hope this is a better representation of the airport. I believe it is. All lights on the Taxiways, Runways, as well as landing lights are REAL TO LIFE. They are taken from the airport digrams themselfs as well as from the website www.fltplan.com. Please, let me know what you think as I am using you as an unofficial beta tester for this file.

File Description:
As most know the Approach and Final (VMC) for AI Traffic in FS9 is a straight in type landing and does not always consider high terrain at airports. This is do to the way that the coding is written in FS9 and it puts limits on IFR arriving aircraft. If you open runways at certain airports the AI Traffic will fly directly through a mountain once it is established on Final for a runway. What you will see with my file is a different type approach used for the way I control AI Traffic in FS9. No longer do the AI Planes use a straight in approach when landing to the west at PHNL. My new AI Aircraft Approach coding for FS9 now uses a base leg approach so AI Traffic does not fly through the mountains. The Honolulu Control Tower will clear all AI Traffic (IFR FP) landing either on 26L and 26R as a straight in landing even though the offset to final is 30 degrees from the runway center line. The Control Tower will instruct the AI Planes landing on either 22L or 22R to fly a left base leg which is greater then a 45 degree offset and then the AI Planes will turn on a short 1.5 mile final. The left base approach to 22L and 22R runways is a 65 degree offset from the runway center line. My testing shows excellent behavior of the FS9 default models, PAI models and the Aardvark planes of all sizes to execute this new type of visual approach that I am now writting code for which supersedes the FS9 default straight in ATC hard code approach. The airport I chose is Long Beach Airport. This airport has been around for
many years and has had everything from the Air Force One to the 787 Dreamliner land here!
The airport is located between downtown Los Angeles and Orange County and offers a great
landing for tourists that do not want to land in the fifth busiest airport in the world,
Los Angeles International.
The reason why I decided to create this airport was because it is my home airport
and I am located only about five miles from it. Also, there is no good freeware FSX scenery for this airport.
Features included!:
- Modern Terminal with correct gate placements
- changed and edited roads and other buildings around airport
- added the jetBlue offices on the airport
- Cars added (all over the place!!!)
- trees added near drop off (California Palm trees)!
- baggage cars and other airport cars added.
- buses and car parking lots added
