The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west of Barrow, and there will be additions. Cape Lisburne is a gravel runway right next to the coast with radar gear and accomodation buildings close by, and what was called "Top Camp" at the end of a long and steep road to the top of a nearby hill, or mountain. The runway is lit, as are most of them in this area of long dark winter nights. Barrow is 270 miles to the northeast. Point Lay PPIZ used to have a radar installation as well as a village, but the old buildings have now been removed and the gravel runway 05-23 has been lengthened to 5,000 feet to serve the village throughout the year. The population is around 270, living mostly traditionally and with an annual beluga whale hunt. Barrow is 180 miles to the northeast.
Wainwright PAWI, some 80 miles southwest of Barrow and on the coast, has a population of around 570. The PAWI runway is just under 5,000 feet long and like PPIZ is aligned 05-23, lit, and with PAPI on each end. The original runway of some 2,000 feet is still visible next to the apron. Three miles to the southeast there is a third runway, at AK03, serving the Wainwright DEW station. It was decided in 2007 to close the station and to remove the buildings both there and at Point Lay because of subsidence, but everything at Wainwright was still in place in 2009 and beyond. The villages have been "sketched" as opposed to replicated exactly. The texture folder includes the missing car textures for Barrow PABR, and the AI is modified PABR to include passenger flights by Ravn and cargo flights by Northern Air Cargo, plus limited GA. There are no flattened grassed areas at these airfields; they are runways and taxiways and aprons on a bed of gravel on permafrost.

The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west, south, and now east of Barrow. There will be further additions. Bullen Point is a DEW station Air Force base 240 miles east of Barrow and 75 miles east of Oliktok. The runway is just under 4,000 feet of gravel and aligned 05-23; this is approximately at right angles to the default FS9 alignment and how that came about is something I doubt Bill Gates could explain. Most of the DEW buildings have now been removed (including the large hangar, which is unusual) but as I had a layout I made the whole site as it was originally, way back in the days when the north slope was still a wilderness. The AI is one day a C-130, on another a Cessna, and on a third a DC3. When I started this North Slope series it was my intention to create the full monty and make all the oil and gas installations and Deadhorse airport etc. I have come to realise that the oil side is impossible to make. There is so much of it and each bit is as time consuming as Heathrow while the actual airfields are more like Rockcliffe CYRO, so a lot of effort for what is just background to an adjoining airfield. But at the same time, if I make the new airstrips it is impossible NOT to make the oil installations as they are the dominating feature. So no new airstrips, and this is going to be just the 1960's or 1970's, when the oil business was only exploratory and the airfields were for villages or DEW stations, and Harmon Helmerick had his dirt strip on the Colville River estuary and was guiding hunters and fishermen and had just started to help out Sinclair Oil with oil exploration in 1966. | Boeing B-17G "Sentimental Journey" N9323Z |

File Description:
This is a repaint only for the FSX Wings of Power II Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, in the markings of the CAF Arizona Wing's B-17G "Sentimental Journey," N9323Z. "Sentimental Journey" rolled off the Douglas assembly line in late 1944, and was accepted by the Army Air Corp on March 13, 1945. Being delivered too late to serve in the European theater, the aircraft was assigned to the Pacific theater for the duration of the war. The aircraft served in the USAF until 1959 when it was put into storage. Within a few months the aircraft was acquired by the Aero Union Corporation of Chico, California and flew thousands of sorties against forest fires as a converted tanker. In 1978 the aircraft was donated to the newly founded Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and after a local contest the aircraft was named "Sentimental Journey." The decision was made to use the most famous pinup picture of WWII for the nose art, which of course was that of Betty Grable's most tantalizing. Over the years the aircraft has been brought back to its WWII configuration, complete with all turrets, crew positions, bombay, and markings of the 457th Bomb Group. The aircraft makes on average each year an amazing 60 airshow stops nation wide.

The need for a true night fighter aircraft was well demonstrated during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Aircraft used to counter German night attacks were not very effective. At the direction of the Air Corp's Carl A. Spaatz, John Northrop submitted a ground up night fighter design, which, designated as the XP-61, first flew on May 26, 1942. The Black Widow was the first aircraft designed from the ground up as a night fighter. Its innovative slotted flaps and spoiler ailerons allowed operation from short airstrips and improved handling; the radar carried in its nose made it the dominant force in the night skies of Europe and the South Pacific. From July 6, 1944, when it claimed its first victory, to war's end, the P-61 distinguished itself as one of America's most unique fighting machines. After the war, P-61s were used in reconnaissance, weather research, and flight testing. The first American flight ejections were made from a P-61.
Only four P-61 aircraft are known to exist today.

File Description:
The Boeing B-29 was designed in 1940 as an eventual replacement for the B-17 and B-24. The first one built made its maiden flight on September 21, 1942. In December 1943 it was decided not to use the B-29 in the European Theater, thereby permitting the airplane to be sent to the Pacific area where its great range made it particularly suited for the long over-water flight required to attack the Japanese homeland from bases in China. During the last two months of 1944, B-29s began operating against Japan from the islands of Saipan, Guam and Tinian. With the advent of the conflict in Korea in June 1950, the B-29 was once again thrust into battle. For the next several years it was effectively used for attacking targets in North Korea. The B-29, named Enola Gay is the airplane from which the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in August, 1945.

Iloilo Airport is located in Iloilo City, Panay Island, Philippines. This local visayan airport is served by the following major domestic airlines: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines. This scenery features the most realistic replica of buildings located in the airport area such as the Main Terminal buildings, Control Tower, Crash and Fire Rescue Station, Philippine Air Force building, private hangars, shops, and commercial buildings including the SM City-Iloilo right in front of the airport area. SM City's parking area is generally filled with vehicles everyday that they are very visible at the ramp area of the airport at daytime and most especially visible glittering at nighttime.
This scenery also features the different commercial vessels serving Iloilo City such as WG&A Superferry, Sulpicio Lines, Negros Navigation, and Philippine Fastferry Corporation's Supercat and SeaAngels. These vessels are visible when flying from Iloilo to Bacolod City passing through the Guimaras Channel.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) B747-367 Megatop Jumbo, AP-BFY, titled "Ziarat - The City of Flowers". This aircraft, delivered to PIA in 1999, was previously B-HOM for Cathay Pacific Airways. Contains photoreal tail, accurately placed titles and door surround repainted to match the actual airplane. Engines repainted with large yellow stickers on the left side of the casing to match the actual airplane. Being a later model 747, unlike PIA's other 747s, AP-BFY is one without the HF wingtip antennas and a different style wing root and the relevant model has been included. Repainted on the stunning Project Opensky 747v4 Advanced model, with all updates till March 2010. Contains ground service vehicles, stairs,tow truck, catering trucks, luggage loaders and containers painted in standard PIA colors. Luggage containers specially repainted to give a more realistic look. Registration of the aircraft painted on the bottom of the left wing, as on the real airplane. Panel updated to include utility gauge and tow truck gauge. Updated model and fde. Complete pack,requires no external downloads. Textures in high quality 32 bit format to conserve quality. Textures for Tom Gibson's Douglas DC-7C - repainted by Manfred Meyer.
You need to download and install the latest Douglas DC-7C base pack with model, sound and panel from the website calclassic.com.
These textures depict N90251 (c/n 45367) originally delivered 1958 to Transports Aeriens Intercontinenteaux TAI as F-BIAQ, later to Madair Madagascar and from 1964 on with UTA for the French Air Force as 85-CB (F-ZBCB) and served for the french nuclear program in the Pacific. Later the DC-7 was equipped with large radomes on top and beneath the fuselage for tracking satellites and missiles. In December 1978 GCA bought the plane, registered it as N90251 and leased to Petroleum AT. From 1979 to 1982 the aircraft was stored and then in September 1986 bought by T & G. Aviation. For conversion to a spray plane, a 25 000 liter tank was brought into the cabin through the entry door in pieces and welded together inside. N90251 served as sprayer in Morocco and after returning to USA in 1995 Roger Brooks from Fairbanks bought the Seven and used it for transporting bulk fuel to remote settlements and mines in Alaska, using the former spray tank.
