File Description:
A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5a Catalina in the colors of PBY-5a #20 (BuNo 7277) of VB-126 as it looked during a rescue operation on the Greenland ice cap in 1943. On 5 november 1942, a C-53 en route from Iceland to Greenland was reported missing off Greenland's east coast. Four days later, a B-17F, en route for England was aked to to keep a lookout for the missing plane, but it crashed on the ice cap. The crew of suffered only minor injuries, and they soon received food and other supplies that were dropped on the ice. Unfortunately, they had landed in a heavily crevassed part of the icecap, making an evacuation difficult. On 28 november, a USCG Grumman Duck, flown by Lt Pritchard, managed to make a wheels-up landing on the ice and brought out two of the crew. The next day, a ground rescue team arrived on the dite as well, and things looked good.... One crew member and a rescuer died when their sled disappeared in a crevasse, and later the same day, Lt. Pritchard's Duck disappeared as well, with a crew of three. On 6 december, an attempt was made to evacuate the B-17's navigator, Lt. O'Hara, who suffered from gangrene in his feet. One member is the rescue party fell into an crevasse, and the motorsled they were using broke down, so the men had to dig in and wait for help. The days continued until over christmas, but morale was kept high with airdrops whenever the weather permitted. A rescue by sled became impossible however due to bad conditions and heavy snows. Lt.Col Balchen, who had used a PBY the previous summer to rescue the members of the B-17 'My Gal Sal' (currently under restoration in Ohio) of the ice, and was now in charge of the rescue operation, proposed to try the same here. The last summer, the PBY landed on a melt water lake on the icecap however, this time he wanted to belly land the PBY, and nobody knew if the hull could withstand such a battering. In the meantime, a ski-equipped T8P1 aircraft tried the same, but dispappeared over the east coast. The crew members were found five days later in a rubber dinghy. The Navy finally gave permission to try an attempt with the PBY. and two PBY-5a"s were send to airfield BW-8, to wait for the right weather. On 5 febuary 1943, Lt Bernard Dunlop succesfully bellylanded BuNo 7277 / 20 (the above paintjob) at the motorsled camp, and the three survivors were taken on board. It has frozen solid in the ice, but after two hours of hard labor, the crew managed to free the PBY and it took off. Now only the three crew members still at the original site needed to be rescued. A ground rescue party was sent to the wreck to transport the survivors to a spot where the PBY could land, but bad weather prevented any flying until 17 march. On that day, Lt. Dunlop landed on the ice, dropping off Lt.Col Balchen and the rescue party, who reached the wreck the following day. The weather closed in again until finally, on april 5th, Lt Dunlop landed his PBY for the third time on the ice cap. All hands were taken on board, but after five attempts to take off, the starboard engine caught fire. The blaze was extinguished, but repairs were necessary. The next day, they managed to take off, but without the rescue party, to lighten the load. 149 days after their crash, the B-17 crew was finally clear of the ice. It wasn't until 18 may that the last member of the rescue party was finally evacuated, making this a six and a half month rescue operation... Italian Air Force "S.M.Luigi Gorrini" AerMacchi C.205 VELTRO (Greyhound) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Regarded as the best Italian aircraft of World War II together with the Fiat G-55 Centauro, the Macchi-Castoldi C.205 proved to be extremely effective in action, destroying a large number of Allied bombers and capable of successfully clashing on equal terms with such renowned fighters as the North American P-51D Mustang.Although the C.205 was able to match the best Allied opponents both in speed and maneuverability,it was introduced late during the conflict. Moreover, due to the poor Italian industrial capability of the time, only a small production run was delivered to combat units before the end of the war.Famous C.205 pilots are Italy's highest scoring ace Adriano Visconti and the top scoring C.205 Sergente Maggiore pilota (Sargeant Major pilot) Luigi Gorrini. To date, there's still debate about Gorrini's score, since Regia Aeronautica preferred crediting units over individual combat achievements. Gorrini's official aerial combat score is 19 victories, but, according to his memories,he achieved 7 more during his service with Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana (A.N.R.), flying a Macchi C.205. These victories did not enter his officiall tally due to political reasons, since the A.N.R. fought by the side of the German Luftwaffe after the Italian September 8th,1943 armistice. These bring his total tally to 26 victories, making him the top scoring Italian fighter ace of WWII.For his combat record with the A.N.R he was awarded twice by the Luftwaffe with the Iron Cross First and Second Class.Luigi Gorrini was also awarded for his actions, after the end of the war, with the highest Italian military decoration, the "Medaglia d'Oro al Valor Militare" (M.O.V.M.,Gold Medal for Military Valour).Last surviving Italian fighter pilot of WWII,he died recently at the age of 97 and this repaint is dedicated to his memory. Repaint by Manuele Villa/MVG3D, November 2014.

Requires the previous installation of the base Aermacchi C.205 Veltro package by Manuele Villa (C205_V01.zip).

Northrop F-5B Freedom Fighter Hellenic Air Force Download

File Description:
This is a superb aircraft I used to fly as a Hellenic Air Force pilot. This repaint is presenting an F-5B Freedom Fighter as it used to fly with 343rd Squadron of Hellenic Air Force, during the '90ties. The F-5 Freedom Fighter was a very succesfull aircraft during its 30 year carrer in HAF as a fighter, bomber, multy role aircraft until the early months 2001 when finaly released by active duty. The project is fully combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions. It is based on a very realistic FS model, with realistic features, made by FSD International. The package contains realistic sounds made by Mr. Angelos Hatzikatakos. A new, based on real photos and diagrams 2D panel, was made by Nick Karatzides who also modified (for FS purposes) the official checklist by Northrop. A VERY completed flight manual (60 pages) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat is included. The panel (combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions) uses plenty of realistic gauges to simulate the real F-5's cockpit. The HUD gauge is made by Mr. Eric Marciano, afterburner flame effects by Mr. Jan Rosenberg and fuel jettison gauge by Mr. Doug Dawson. This "F5B_HAF1.zip" package is for EXPERIENCED FlightSimers and virtual pilots who have a "good feeling" on the controls and do not "kick" the contol stick while flying...It is for people who want to know how it looks to fly with a modern fighter. The package contains visual effects, night lighting, fine looking mechanical parts movement, contrails, realistic gears extracting / retracting etc. Instructions for both FS2K2 and FS9 versions are included.

C-5M Super Galaxy Download

File Description:
All former versions of the C-5 have completed the conversion to C-5M, to date. They include more efficient engines with more power, a glass cockpit, longer range and heavier lift capabilities. Other than those aspects, they look the same as before. VERY BIG!!! She is the largest cargo aircraft operated by the U.S. Air Force and several other countries who have purchased her. I suggest reading about this aircraft on-line, and watching a few You Tube videos before your first flight, but do as you wish. She is very easy to fly, and all C-5M pilots agree with this statement. This version is based at Dover AFB, and the callsign is real. The refurbished aspects of this FSX model include extremely realistic engine/aerodynamics as well as payload distribution. The landing gear have also been corrected for realism. What this plane does in the simulator is what it does realistically. The panel is close to real, but takes time to understand and use properly. The sounds used are very realistic, so no need to change that unless you feel the need to do so. Flying her is pretty easy. If you are a Real World C-5 Pilot, you will find this version is very accurate. Read the text document enclosed entitled "Readmenow" after unzipping the file. Flightplan Visualizer 1.10 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Flightplan Visualizer (FV) version 1.10.0. Copyright 2018-2019 by Pelle F. S. Liljendal ([email protected]), all rights reserved. FV comes with 300 Commercial-, and +380 BizJet AI pre-imported flightplans which the creators of those flightplans have gracefully allowed me to include with the installer, however you are able to import additional (AI) flightplans if you want to. Once imported these (AI) flightplans can be visualized on a map-view, and the user will be able to search accross all these. Hence you can use the program as inspiration as to which routes to fly. E.g. you can search across all imported flightplans to find all flights in an A321 flying into/out from LDDU, or simply to look for all flights in a Boeing 747-8F. Simply run the included installer to install the software. The program will be installed into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Flightplan Visualizer" and all datafiles will be installed into: "C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\FlightplanVisualizer". The program comes with a full manual explaining everything, and a 3 page quick manual to get you started. The first 3 times you run the program the quick manual will automatically open. The forum is hosted here: https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/forum/919-flightplan-visualizer/ Version 1.10 Contains the following changes: In the flightplan combo-box at the bottom of the main-form, "Active Search" have been renamed into "Last Search". Picking "Last Search" from the flightplan combo-box, will re-execute the last performed search, and populate the map accordingly. A new entry called "None", have been added flightplan combo-box (at the top of the list). Chosing this item will "deselect" the otherwise current search or selected flightplan, and clear the map of routes. A form have been added to assist enabling/disabling flightplans. Gate-letters/numbers are now by default written using a (5x7) Matrix-"font". If you want to revert to the segment-"font", used in previous versions, simply set the value of the "UseMatrixGateChars" tag in the settings-file to false. changed how the Gate-letters/numbers are written in the round gate-markers on the map. Previously all "chars" had the same width. Now the width is dependant on which sub-elements are in use by each "char" (e.g. a "1" is not as wide as an "8"), as a result the gate letter/number are more easy to read. Zulu- and local-time added to the "Selected airport" group-box in the upper/right corner of the main form. If no airport is selected, or no time-zone is registred for the selected airport, only zulu-time will be displayed. Selections of favorite aircraft can now be saved and loaded.⦁ This selection of aircraft can be loaded as a selection of aircraft in the "Search leg" form. Video tutorials can now be accessed from the "Help" menu. These are simply "links" to the actual videos on YouTube, hence will launch the default browser. If you hold SHIFT the url will in stead be copied to the clipboard (e.g. in case you want to upen the link in another browser). In the same manner the "Help" menu now contains a link to the forum. The form with decoded METAR/TAF-messages now shows: name, city, and country/state for the selected station in the caption. This text will also be embedded when copying the content to the clipboard. Likewise UTC/Local-time is also embedded when copying the content to the clipboard as it can be used to show the "age" of the report and convert between UTC and Local -times (based on the difference of UTC- and local-time). The info presented when pressing the "Show Scenery Gates" button on the Airport Info form, can now be copied to the clipboard. Various minor "behind the scenes" changes and optimizations. Added support for additional aircraft: Airbus A220-100 (CS100), Airbus A220-300 (CS300), Boeing 777-8 and Boeing 777-9. Listviews containing both (aircraft) IATA and ICAO-codes now all list them in the following order: IATA, ICAO (both individual sortable). Hovering the mouse over gate-markers the hint window will no show the radius both in meters and feet. Editing gate-info you will now see more info for the gate being edited: Type, Size (meters and feet) and if applicable: airlines. Fixed: Minor bug in relation to how the airport size was calculated. Fixed: IATA/ICAO columns were swapped when choosing Favorite Aircraft. Fixed: Typo on the METAR/TAF-decoder form.
