Oliktok is a DEW station Air Force base to the east of the Colville River delta, 160 miles east of Barrow and 12 miles from Harmon Helmericks house and dirt strip in the delta on Anachlik Island. (See my previous post, made after reading his book about northern Alaska flying). The runway is just over 4,000 feet of gravel and aligned 03-21. The large hangar is still there, and so are the majority of the DEW buildings closer to the beach. There are now also some oil production facilities and living quarters nearby on the point, but these are not included in this scenery as to make them convincingly (and there is no point in making them unconvincingly!) would be 100+ times as laborious as making the airstrip. And as Sid has memorably said, "If you can't taxi up to it, then xxxx it". So this scenery is dated way before the north slope was changed from a wilderness to an industrial complex. The AI is one day a C-130, on another a Cessna, and on a third a Reeve Aleutian DC-6B.

In 1995, Van’s decided to re-visit the tandem concept. Even though the side-by-side RV-6\/6A had become the most popular homebuilt design ever, there was still a significant percentage of pilots who really wanted centerline seating. The consensus seemed to be that a new tandem airplane, optimized for cross-country flying, would be popular.\n\nThe "concept airplane" was dubbed the RV-8. A one-of-a-kind demonstrator was built in 1995 and introduced at Oshkosh. The cockpit was several inches wider than the RV-4, so space both front and rear was greatly improved. Really big people (high on the "bubba scale") who could not fit in earlier RVs now had an airplane they could fly. A front baggage compartment almost doubled the available baggage capacity and along with the usual compartment behind the rear seat, actually gave slightly more space than the RV-6\/6A. This package features a FSDSv2 model, custom panel, VC, moving parts, and two paint schemes. This aircraft is fun to fly, and also works well as an AI addition for GA routes.

This folder contains a repaint for version 3.14 of the Douglas C-47 by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of C-47B 79001 of the Swedish Air Force that was at the start of the Catalina affair (Swedish: Catalinaaffären), a military confrontation and Cold War-era diplomatic crisis in June 1952, in which Soviet fighter jets shot down two Swedish aircraft over international waters in the Baltic Sea. The first aircraft to be shot down was an unarmed Swedish Air Force Tp 79, a derivative of the Douglas DC-3, carrying out radio and radar signals intelligence-gathering for the National Defence Radio Establishment. None of the crew of eight was rescued. The second aircraft to be shot down was a Swedish Air Force Tp 47, a Catalina flying boat, involved in the search and rescue operation for the missing DC-3. The Catalina's crew of five was saved. The Soviet Union publicly denied involvement until its dissolution in 1991. The aircraft was manufactured in 1943 with original US serial number 42-5694, and was delivered to USAAF 15th Troop Carrier Squadron (61st Troop Carrier Group). It saw action in northern Africa before being stationed at RAF Barkston Heath. On June 13, 1952, it disappeared east of the isle of Gotska Sandön while carrying out signals intelligence-gathering operations for the Swedish National Defence Radio Establishment. Both aircraft were located in 2003, and the DC-3 was salvaged, and the wreckage is currently on display in the Swedish Air Force Museum near Linköping. -Sikorsky CH-3E USAF/21stHeliSqdr. No.703 'DUSTY'.Vietnam War Livery.
CH-3E Jolly Green Giant heavy-lift helicopter, introduced in 1962. It was developed for aircrew rescue missions deep into enemy-held territory during the Vietnam War where the helicopters were best known as the "Jolly Green Giants". This version contains an improved and more detailed livery.
-Sikorsky CH-3 USAF 1370th Photographic Mapping Wing, MATS, APCS, Turner AFB, Albany, GA 1959-1966. Bare metal liveries around 1966, No's. 39686 and 39687.
These helicopters were used by the 1370th Photo-Mapping Wing for supply and support of geodetic ground stations in conjunction with aerial surveys. They were assigned to the wing in 1964 and replaced the H-21 "Workhorse". Both "Jollys" joined the Ethiopia-U.S. Mapping Mission (Project AF58-3), aka Project "King's Ransom " in 1964-1966. This unique mission was created in order to photograph and map the entire Empire of Ethiopia.

Five repaints for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of PBY-5's operated by Qantas on the 'Double Sunrise Service' between Western Australia and Ceylon between 1943 and 1945.
In 1943, Royal Australian Air Force personnel were seconded to operate Catalinas under the banner of Qantas. The plan called for flights between Perth, Western Australia, and RAF Base Koggala in southern Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). The flights were the longest non-stop air route of any airline, over 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km) across the Indian Ocean. Navigating without the aid of radio, the crews relied solely on rudimentary navigation by compass and stars during the trip.
Only Catalinas had that kind of range, so five PBY-5 flying boats were converted to make them suitable for the trip.
They received camouflage paint, with a RAAF roundel on the fuselage, but also a civilian registration, since they were officialy operated by Qantas, and they were named after the stars they would be using for navigation:

Taking between 27 and 33 hours, with departure timed so that the flight crossed Japanese occupied territory during darkness, the crews would observe the sunrise twice, which led to the service being known as "The Double Sunrise". The flight route flown was along the coast from Perth to Exmouth then setting out towards Cocos (Keeling) Island or Christmas Island (though neither was actually sighted during the flight) and onto Kogalla, a journey of approximately 3,580 nautical miles (6,630 km). After the success of the initial flights, it was decided to run a weekly service, with some services flying over Rottnest Island and then taking a direct line to Kogalla. As part of the Australia-England air route there was a surface component from Kogalla to Karachi that added considerable time to the service. This was later replaced by the Double Sunrise service, with Karachi to England flown by BOAC. Air crews would change in Kogalla taking the next plane in either direction minimising the time taken to complete the journey.
Though stripped of all non-essential equipment, including de-icing equipment and insulation, the average takeoff weight was 15,900 to 16,000 kg; this included 9,040 liters of fuel, which gave the Catalina a range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km). The service made 271 crossings, delivered over 4,500 kg of mail and carried 860 passengers, including among them British MP Edith Summerskill and the journalist Keith Murdoch. 'The Secret Order of The Double Sunrise' was an illustrated certificate given to passengers aboard the flying boats of the Australia-England air link, to attest they had been airborne for more than 24 hours.
After the war the five modified Catalinas that had flown The Double Sunrise service were scuttled.

Jetblue liveries are painted on Project Airbus A320-232 model (not included). The textures are saved in 32bit format for quality graphics. Textures are also characterized by HD (High Definition). | Cedar Lake Logging Camp |

After flying my first real life solo flight I decided to celebrate by making a fun scenery for flightsim. Cedar Lake Logging Camp was designed to be a great destination for Northern Ontario (Canada) Bush pilots. It is situated northwest of Dryden. It has one 1800 foot gravel runway with trees on both sides for challenging approaches and takeoffs, a helipad and a dock for float operations (visible). There are several cabins on site as well as a hanger and fuel station on the gravel apron. There is a fuel barge and cargo crates by the float docks. For the bush atmosphere there are several deer in the area, a tractor pulling a mower by the runway, and two static aircraft (a Piper Cub by the hanger and a Cessna 185 on floats at the fuel barge). An AI aircraft is integrated into the file as well - the piper cub flies to Red Lake in the morning and to Dryden in the afternoon. There is also an integrated AFCAD file so the camp will show up in the flight simulator database and in the GPS. There are 5 starting locations including the runway ends, 2 parking spots on the apron, the helipad, and beside the dock. I hope you enjoy this as much as I will.

There were 2 missing bmps relating to Nav_Info from my 'New Vickers VC10 Panel, Part 4' (new_vc10_panel_project_4_maintenance_2.zip). In order for it to work correctly you need these files.
This project is based on David Maltby's panel. This update the first in the 50th Anniversary year of the VC10 (there are currently nine still flying) brings to fruition a number of extensive works in progress that have involved almost every gauge! The aircraft now has a fully integrated pressurisation and oxygen delivery system that conforms not only to the Flight Manual but also to ICAO regulations. Therefore cockpit mismanagement can potentially result in hypoxia! Besides this there are also a large number of new additions both in conformity with the Flight Manual and as extra visuals. It's now possible to "see" the Marshaller - There are new speed calls - and whilst you are preoccupied with your checklists the ground staff can be heard going about their business preparing for the flight as indicated also on the Ignition Panel.
