This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang (with AccuSim), in the colors of P-51D-5-NA 44-13557 5E-E "Easy Does It" as flown by Lt Richard 'Spider' Smith of the 1st Scouting Force, 8th AF. Lt. Smith was a B-17 plot with the 303rd BG and had completed his tour of 35 missions in october 1944 when he was made an offer he could not refuse. As all pilots, he had been dreaming of flying a fighter and was disappointed when he was assigned to the bombers. He now was asked to join the newly formed scouting force, which used experienced bomber pilots to scout ahead of the bomber force flying Mustangs. After 6 hours in a T-6 and 10 hours in a P-51, 'Spider' (so called because of his physique, tall, with long thin limbs) flew his first missio in a P-51 on 6 december 1944 in an old 364th FG P-51D-5, which he named 'Easy Does It' after it's callsign E. The name 'Betty' on the canopy rail referred to his future wife back in the US, but also to a nurse he was dating in the UK. On his 26th mission, on 1 april 1945, flying lead to Leipzig, his engine caught fire on the return flight, and he had to bail out over Belgium. He broke his arm when he hit the tail on bailing out, but otherwise landed safely. He was sent home to the US and came back just before his 21st birthday, having flown 60 missions. He did not crash with this aircraft though, this was damaged during a ground collision in the winter of 1944-45, was repaired and was now flying with the 487th FS/352nd FG as Maj. This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-10-DL 42-37761 OR-L "Blue Dreams" of the 323rd BS/ 91st BG, based in Bassingbourne, UK. "Blue Dreams" was assigned to Captain Ken McFarland and his crew, and was painted by Corporal Tony Starcer, with the december pin-up by Alberto varga. When the crew found out that their captain's wife was pregnant, they had Starcer paint a stork and baby below the pilots window (without McFarlane knowing), adding the name 'Mona Gail'after the birth of his daughter. The aircraft would go on to complete 29 missions with the group, before being written off due to an unfortunate oversight by another crew. Shortly after taking off for a flight to Berlin, on the 6th of March 1944, the pilot, Lt Walter Wilkinson, noticed fuel streaming from the starboard wing. He decided to land immediately, in the hope of quickly solving the problem and rejoining the mission. The nearest airfield was the 355th FG's base at Steeple Morden, close to Bassingbourne, and he decided to land there. He lined up with the runway and slowly descended the heavily laden bomber, going for a smooth as possible landing. What came was different, since the crew had forgotten to lower the landing gear, and "Blue Dreams" screeched of the runway and into the grass. The crew evacuated the wrecked aircraft as quickly as they could, but fortunately, the bombs in the bomb-bay did not explode. "Blue Dreams" would not fly again, and was salvaged the following day. The subsequent accident report revealed that the pilot had flown 8 exhaustive missions in the previous two weeks. This time nobody was hurt, but it would be a different story 10 months later, when another 91st B-17 forcelanded at Steeple Morden...

| Boeing B-17G 91st BG (LL-E) "Shoo shoo shoo baby" restored |

This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, the former "Shoo shoo shoo baby". In 1968, the ancestry of F-BGSH, an old B-17 languishing in derelict state on Creil Airfield in France, was discovered by the Australian aviation historian Steve Birdsall, who notified the USAF museum that this was a combat veteran that had flown operational missions, in contrast to most other surviving B-17's. Following negotiations, the B-17 was donated to the US by the French Government. Interestingly, its Swedish heritage attracted interest from Sweden as well, but nothing came of this. The aircraft was disassembled at Creil and trucked to Frankfurt and flown to the US in 1972, where it arrived, packed in 27 crates. No plans or funds for restoration were present at the time, but in 1977, Mike Leiston, a technician at Dover AFB contacted the museum about the possibility of restoring one of the museum's aircraft by volunteers at Dover AFB. With project approved, 42-32076 was transported to Dover, with the aim of restoring it to a stock wartime B-17G. Upon arrival, Paul McDuffee, who had flown her for 13 missions, was present, and the reunion was clearly an emotional one as he commented "I've just got to go over and kiss her", which he did.
The restoration continued to 1988,and after some 60.000 ma hours, "Shoo shoo shoo baby"took to the skies again for the first time on 11 september. On 14 october 1988, she flew for the last time, to the USAF museum near Dayton, Ohio, where she can still be seen. The main difference with her wartime looks is the fact that she currently sports an olive drab camouflage paint, which was necessary due to all the metal work needed to bring her back to a stock B-17G condition. | Curtiss Helldiver Italian Air Force |

This folder contains a repaint for the Aerplane Heaven Curtiss Helldiver in the colors of S2C-5 MM4693 86-42 of the 86 Gruppo Antisom of the Italian Air Force, based in Grottaglie, 1952. Italy’s experience with the Helldiver was brief but interesting. In 1950, when the first post-WWII formal rearmament plan was put forward, the Italian navy identified as a priority obtaining a surplus American light aircraft carrier, with appropriate air wing. A team was sent to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi TX, where two pilots trained and qualified on the Helldiver, later practicing carrier operations aboard USS Midway (CV-41) where four more pilots earned US Navy carrier wings. In September 1952, two surplus Helldivers were presented to the Italian navy as a gift by the USA. The two planes were delivered to Naples, Italy.
Unfortunately for the Italian navy, there was still a Mussolini-era law on the books called Legge 1000 Kilo (law of a thousand kilograms) which mandated that only the Italian air force could fly planes over 2,200 lbs weight. As the result of a bizarre inter-services lawsuit, the navy was forced to abandon plans for both it’s aircraft carrier wish and the Helldivers.
A total of forty-six Helldivers were eventually transferred to the Italian air force (the two former navy planes plus a further forty-four). The Italian air force assigned them to the 86th Autonomous Antisubmarine Group at Grottaglie air base, where they flew ASW missions with depth charges. The Helldiver was not popular with the Italians…as an anecdotal example, they were housed in a disused WWII-era blimp hangar. They were viewed as obsolete and too difficult to master pilots on. The crews were also not keen on flying a single-engine type on long overwater patrols.
The Italian planes were only in frontline service for about one year. In 1953, they were replaced by PV-2 Harpoons and (later) S-2 Trackers, which were much more suitable to long-range ASW missions. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Aeroplane Heaven.

| Douglas A-20C Boston Dutch Naval Air Service |

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas A-20C by Milton Shupe and his team. It shows Douglas DB7 Boston D52 of the Royal Dutch East Indies Navy, Andir, 6 March 1942. In december 1941, the Dutch government ordered 32 Douglas Boostons for the defence of the Dutch Indies after the outbreak of war in the Pacific. These aircraft were destined for the MLD, or Dutch Naval Air Service. The aircraft were painted in RAF camouflage colors and received Dutch orange triangles on the fuselage and the underside of the wings, together with a serial consisting of a D with a number and the text KON.MARINE on the nose. The aircraft were crated and shipped to the Dutch East Indies, with the first six arriving in Java on the 27th of February 1942, just a day before the Japanese landings in Java. The crates were unloaded in Tjilatjap. It was decided to try and assemble a few aircraft on the spot, in the harbor of Tjilatjap, while three crates were sent to Andir by train. Despite Japanese bombing raids on the harbor, the MLD technicians managed to assemble two Bostons in the harbor, and on the morning of the 5th of March, Lt Burgerhout, a Catalina pilot, took of from an improvised runway withh D52 and flew to Tasikmalaja, where it was planned to fill the aircraft with fuel for the flight to Andir air base. However, no suitable fuel was found. Before the second Boston could be flown out, the 'runway' was destroyed by a second Japanese bomb raid, so the ground crew destroyed the aircraft. The aircraft at Tasikmalaja was destroyed on the 8th of Mmarch, just before the capitulation of the Dutch East Indies. Of the aircraft transported by train, one was assembled, and this fell intact into the hands of the Japanese, who later used it for flight evaluations. The other two aircraft were destroyed by their ground crews. The other 26 Bostons still underway were diverted to Australia, and these later flew with no 22 squadron of the RAAF. | Douglas C-54 (VH-PAF) Pacific Air Freighters |

This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas DC-4 VH-PAF in the colors of Pacific Air Freighters.
VH-Paf was originally delivered new to the USAAF as 44-9126 on May 14, 1945. It transferred to the USAF in 1947 and was Withdrawn from service and stored at Davis Montahan, Arizona - December 1971. She was sold to Dross Metals in 1975 and entered onto the United States Aircraft Register as N9013V.She then flew for several companies in the US until she was seized by Bahamas authorities for alleged smuggling activities in April 1981. She was sold again, among others flying for Lynch Air Tankers Inc, Billings, Montana between 1984 and 1995 as 'City of Billings'.
She then went to Australia with Pacific Air Freighters Pty Ltd, arriving in Cairns on completion of the ferry flight to Australia in June 1995.
The ferry route was Chino - Hilo - Majuro - Honiara - Cairns, the first leg of this ferry flight took 14 hours. On arrival at Majuro some problems associated with Number 2 engine were worked on before departing for Honiara. During this leg Number 2 engine began to play up so it was shut down in flight. As the problem could not be rectified it was decided to carry on to Cairns as planned on three engines. She was ferried Cairns - Brisbane (Archerfield) on three engines in june 1995 and entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-PAF on January 31, 1996
She commenced long term contract with Goroka Air Service, Papua New Guinea - October 14, 1996. Returned to Brisbane after 3 months and placed in open storage and sold at auction to Airfreighters International P/L - May 22, 1997. Services were flown under the name of Pacific Air Freighters. Chartered by Ansett Australia Cargo for service Brisbane - Darwin - September 15, 2000. She was then sold to Historical Aviation Restoration Society Inc and ferried to Brisbane - Albion Park Regional Airport, where she was reregistered as VH-EAY - June 23, 2008. At present, she is undergoing complete overhaul for return to airworthy condition.

This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, which rolled off Boeing's production line in Seattle in march 1944. This was around the transition from camouflaged to bare metal aircraft, which led to the odd situation that the datablock was stencilled onto a OD panel, while the rest of the aircraft was left bare metal. This was because the datablock was sprayed on right at the beginning of production. The aircraft was assigned to the 401st BS of the 91st BG, and was collected at the depot in Burtonwood by Paul McDuffee, who was so impressed with its smooth handling that he asked to be assigned to it. The aircraft was named by its crew chief, Hank Cordes, and was named after a popular song by the Andrews Sisters. Originally, the name was 'Shoo shoo baby', applied in gothic letters, which was later replaced by a Vargas girl and an additional 'shoo', painted by Cpl. Tony Starcer. McDuffee flew 13 missions with 076, before completing his tour of duty. On completion of his last flight, he buzzed the airfield and flew so low that fencing wire became entangled in the tail wheel. On the plane's 23rd mission, on 29 may 1944, Lt. Robert Guenther was flying 076 on a raid to Poznan when he suffered engine failure on one engine, and a while later, flak knocked out a second engine. 'Shoo shoo shoo baby' started to fall behind, and when a third engine started to falter, Lt Guenther decided to turn to neutral Sweden, with the crew jettisoning all loose equipment. A group of FW190's closed in, but did not open fire, peeling away. By the time 076 reached Bulltofta airfield near Malmö, it had only one engine left, but it did manage to perform a safe landing. The crew were interned, and the aircraft was impounded. The crew returned to the UK in October 1944, and 'Shoo shoo shoo baby' would later tour the world...

This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-85-BO #43-38348 LG-O "Roxy's Special" of the 322 BS/ 91st BG based in Bassingbourne UK. #348 arrived in Bassingbourne on 18 August 1944, and very quickly received her nose art, by Corporal Tony Starcer. By 5 September, it had flown four missions to Germany. The next mission, on the 8th of September, was to the I.G. Farben Chemical Plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany. On board this mission was David McCarty, pilot, Neil M. Mylin, co-pilot, Donald L. Brazones, navigator, Frank S. Bolen, bombardier, John Cangemi, top turret, Frank F. Trim, Jr., ball turret, Charles E. Beebe, waist guns, Floyd Z. Dillon, tail gun, and Henry R. Schuls, radio operator. Around 11.35 hours, short of the bomb drop near Ludwigshafen, “Roxy’s Special†took a hit ripping off a wing. A spin ensued pinning Bolen and navigator Don Brazones in their nose bubble followed almost immediately by an explosion blowing them free of the aircraft. Bolen and Brazones were the only two survivors of “Roxy’s Special.†They both parachuted down, but not together, therefore neither knew the fate of the other until later. Bolen eluded capture for 7 days before being picked up and carted off to Stalag Luft 1 near Barth, Germany after interrogations. Brazones had been picked up before Bolen and processed through the channels to Stalag Luft 1. The two were reunited at Stalag Luft 1 where they spent the remainder of the war. On Sept. 14, 1944, the day Bolen was captured, his wife Frances gave birth to their first child, Linda, in Selma - a child Bolen would not see until returning from imprisonment and the war. The “Roxy’s Special†crash site was near a Lutheran Church in Ludwigshafen. A very respectful group of Germans removed the remains of the air crew and buried them in the local cemetery. After the war, the remains were turned over to American authorities and they moved them to a National Cemetery in Northern France. In 1947, Bolen served as casket bearer for David McCarty when he was brought home to rest in Birmingham.

This is the third of five sceneries around Lac Saint-Jean in Quebec, Canada. Saint-Honore is a village on a crossroads 32 miles east of the lake, and the airport, called Chicoutimi in the Nav Canada Flight Supplement, is a mile or so east of the village. It is of the familiar triangular military design with three runways 12-30, 06-24, and 18-36. Of these, the longest is 12-30 at over 6,000 feet and has approach lighting and glide slope indicators. Of the other two 06-24 is now closed, but this scenery is based on the 2010 situation with all three open. There are two apron areas, one just to the south of 12-30 and a second to the northwest of 06-24 and served by a separate taxiway. The largest operator is a training establishment based on the northern apron and with a sizeable fleet of Beechcraft trainers (Skipper) that does not exist as an FS9 plane, so these are represented by a similar stand-in substitute. There is also a helicopter emergency evacuation operation to the east of the large control tower, and other hangars. The south apron has two main companies, Max Aviation and Exact Air, both of which run local regular scheduled flights in the area (though both appear to have now subcontracted these out to other companies) and also engage in training and charter flights. There is also a parachute training company. The ai includes flights by the companies on the field and also GA. The list of AI planes is explained in the AI folder, with details of downloads etc. The fleet of training aircraft is one of the planes in the revised (by Nick Tselepides) Piper Aircraft, designed for AI Traffic by Andras Neumann with a Paintkit by Charles Dayhuff adapted by Graham Eccleston, and Paints by Graham Eccleston, Andras Neuman and Frank Cooper along with the trainer repaint by Nick Tselepides. The Max and Exact aircraft textures are approximations by me; apologies. The use of the runways also as taxiways complicates the AI on runway 12-30 as directed by ATC. The AI will always leave 12-30 by the earliest exit, which means that the fleet of trainers will exit to the southern apron but will then taxi back onto the runway to reach taxiway A or runway 36 (according to wind direction) to proceed to the northern apron. In real life they land long and then taxi straight to the end of the runway to reach taxiway A or runway 36 without using the south apron at all. There is no way to correct this so just be ready to go around.

This folder contains a repaint for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIV by Real Air. It shows Spitfire Mk.XIV RM656 DL-F, which was the aircraft that Captain Jean Maridor, of the Free French Air Force, was flying on the 3rd of August 1944, when he was killed while destroying a V1. Jean Maridor was born in Le Havre, France on the 24 November, 1920. He became interested in flying at a young age. He stopped his studies to focus of this new interest. Maridor began to take many courses in flying. He obtained his pilot's licence at 16, making him the youngest pilot in France. In 1939, he joined the French Air Force and received his pilot's wings in september 1939, continiuing his training on the Dewoitine D520. He joined a squadron just two days before the French Surrender, only to receive the order to burn his aircraft. After the French surrender, Maridor left to go to England with many other French pilots, where he joined the R.A.F. After training, he began flying with the 615 Squadron on Hurricanes. He scored his first kill on the 14th of October 1941. In february 1942, he transferrd to 91 squadron, flying Spitfires, where he scored a further 8 kills, one of which was Lt Paul Galland, the brother of Adolf Galland, in october 1942.
From june 1944, 91 squadron flew the Spitfire mk XIV and specialised in shooting down the V1's that the Germans started sending over to the UK. Capt Maridor was succesful at this too, shooting down 6 of the Doodlebugs before his final flight on the 3rd of August 1944.
On this day, Maridor intercepted a Doodlebug over Rolvenden around 12:33. Flying towards the bomb, he shot at it at 12:39. Although he hit it, the bomb was only damaged not destroyed. On his second attack, he saw the bomb was heading for Benenden School, which at the time was being used as a military hospital. Knowing that hundreds of lives would be lost if the bomb was to hit, Maridor launched a final attack at 12.43. He approached to less than 50 metres to ensure he would not miss a second time. The Doodlebug exploded this time, but the wing of his plane was caught in the explosion and ripped from the body. The plane crashed beside the lake on the school grounds, killing Maridor just 8 days before his wedding. His fiancée has been quoted as saying he would not have hesitated in his attack on the bomb. He knew that many lives would have been lost otherwise.
