Since uploading the original aeroplane, more information about this aircraft has come to light. Accordingly, textures have been slightly modified, and as a bonus four flight plans are now included which reflect original routings of this DC-3. Requires previous installation of DC3VIET.ZIP.

Douglas DC-3 Mandated Airlines VH-MAL

File Description:
This aircraft was previously 'Betsy', the founding aircraft of Cathay Pacific Airways. Here she is in the colours of Mandated Air Lines of Papua New Guinea, registration VH-MAL, 1955-1963. The thumbnail shows her as at 15 September 1960, when her co-pilot mistook the Captain's raised thumb on the starboard throttle as a signal to raise the gear. She came to an inglorious halt 2,700 feet from the start of her take-off run, severely damaged, but after repairs flew for many more years. Based on Jan Visser's legendary DC-3 model for FS2000, updated for FS2002, this model includes transparent cabin windows, nightlighting, lit 3D interior with opening passenger door, boarding ladder and other details. Includes FS2002 lights fix by Paul Pridmore. Default panel and sound.

Douglas DC-3 Four Fuel Tank Conversion Kit

File Description:
The default FS2004 DC-3 is configured for three fuel tanks, whereas by design the C-47/DC-3 had four from which to draw. Many airlines using the DC-3 commercially blanked off, removed or never installed one tank in order to maximise payload; they were usually operating shorter routes than were typical of the C-47 in military service, This conversion kit gives the option of restoring the aircraft to four-tank configuration, giving greater range for long duration flights. Offering realistic fuel management, this option can replace your default configuration or, alternatively, add four-tank aircraft to your DC-3 collection. Note that this file will only be of use to those pilots who like to set up fuel and payload properly before a flight; pilots using default FS settings of maximum fuel and full payload will find that the aircraft is over maximum takeoff weight in this configuration.

The 1st Austrian DC-3 Dakota Club's OE-LBC (c/n 13073, USAAF 42-93189, 20/4/1944, N86U from 1956) is the only DC-3 in Austria today and is operated as a private enthusiasts' club. South Pacific Airlines of New Zealand (SPANZ) operated from December 1960 to February 1966, providing services on a range of routes nationwide. Formed by two ex-NAC Captains, the airline operated three of its own aircraft, of which ZK-BYD 'Ernest Rutherford' (c/n 13906) was one.
