| Strawberry Fields Airport (89NJ), NJ |
|
File Description:
Located 02 miles N of Mays Landing, New Jersey on 220 acres of land, Strawberry Fields Airport is a private turf/sand strip. SkyVector lists the runway as 2200' long, but as measured during development it is closer to 3000'. In addition to Runways 14 and 32, there is a second runway that is not listed in the airport directory and presumed closed. However if you need it in an emergency the numbers are 03 and 21 (no starts are available for these runways). This airport is not lit and is best used only during daytime VFR conditions. The windsock can be found at the intersection of the two runways and is also not lit. You will be landing on bare terrain so have your mesh complexity slider set as high as possible for best effect.

This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 003. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

| Bridgeport-Cahill Field Airport (6NJ9), NJ |
|
File Description:
Located 01 miles SW of Bridgeport, New Jersey on 167 acres of land, this airport is non-existent in real life, as far as I am able to determine. although it is still listed as Active, no visible trace of anything remotely suitable for a landing strip is visible anywhere in this area. The strip mining operation nearby in some satellite/aerial photos shows a long narrow grass strip that could be used as a runway, but then others show it stripped down to bare dirt as part of the apparent mining operation, and the MegaSceneryEarth textures depict this latter representation as well. So I have simply removed visible evidence of this strip, although FSX will still try to tell you it's there in the airport directory.

| CYHD - Dryden Regional - Ontario, Canada * Updated v2 * |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This greatly modifies my previous (2009) post of Dryden; this version has bespoke buildings and is stand-alone and does not require you to have the previous post. There will also be follow-up posts of Sioux Lookout and Geraldton. Dryden is in northern Ontario, 110 miles east of the Manitoba border, 40 miles west of Sioux Lookout, and with the US border 90 miles to the south. The town is on the northern shore of Wabigoon Lake and has a population of around 7,800. The main business is pulp and paper, along with agriculture, tourism, and mining. The airport is 5 miles northeast of the town.
Dryden Regional has 6,000' of asphalt which in FS9 is aligned 11-29. The second runway is compacted sand 2,000' long and aligned 05-23. There are two aprons, the western being for the terminal building and some ga parking, and the eastern larger and used in the summer for parking fire fighting planes, along with maintenance hangarage and accomodation etc. The Ontario Fire Service planes were included with my original Geraldton post and are included here again; they fly back and forth and keep Dryden busy along with several Bearskin Airlines and Perimeter Aviation flights.

File Description:
Mitsubishi G4M1 “Betty” twin engined attack aircraft.
Multi res model made with Abacus Flight Sim Design studio version2,
this model is specifically for FS9 (there is/will be a CFS2 version).
The “Betty” was a surprisingly agile aircraft with a long range. Used to
deliver a varied payload, ranging from single torpedo to multiple bombs
it’s mission were many and varied. In truth it was often sent where 4
engined bombers should have flown.
Animations
This model has the usual surface animations, detailed landing gear and
working cowl flaps and also includes the following:
Co pilot directions: In use, it was common practice for the co pilot to
stand on his seat and give the pilot taxiing instructions.
This is reproduced by using SHIFT + E
Action stations can be called by using the SHIFT+E+2 combination. Watch
the crew spring in to action!
Side door and ladder. This is actioned by using whatever combination you
use for concorde nose raise and lower.
Bomb bay: The Betty didn’t have traditional opening and closing bomb bay
doors but a series of different fitted panels depending on what payload was
being carried. This model is represented with a torpedo payload that can be
seen by using the spoiler key /

| B29 Superfortress |
|
File Description:
The Boeing B-29 was designed in 1940 as an eventual replacement for the B-17 and B-24. The first one built made its maiden flight on September 21, 1942. In December 1943 it was decided not to use the B-29 in the European Theater, thereby permitting the airplane to be sent to the Pacific area where its great range made it particularly suited for the long over-water flight required to attack the Japanese homeland from bases in China. During the last two months of 1944, B-29s began operating against Japan from the islands of Saipan, Guam and Tinian. With the advent of the conflict in Korea in June 1950, the B-29 was once again thrust into battle. For the next several years it was effectively used for attacking targets in North Korea. The B-29, named Enola Gay is the airplane from which the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in August, 1945.

| Kangiqsualujjuaq CYLU in northern Quebec, Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Kangiqsualujjuaq is in northern Quebec on the east side of Ungava Bay, which is to the east of Hudson Bay and around 150 miles wide and 120 miles deep. Kuujjuaq, the administrative capital of northern Quebec, is 100 miles to the southwest. The town is on the bank of the George River, and has also been known as Fort George River, George River, etc. There was a Hudson Bay trading post at the town's location as early as 1838, though it was closed and reopened more than once and the town did not grow because of the trading post; the Inuit lived on the coast during the summer but moved 30 miles inland in winter for trapping. A cooperative was formed in 1959 to market fish, and this was the creative force that brought about establishment of the town; a school was built in 1963.
The airport is to the north of the town in a valley between the surrounding hills at 215 feet ASL. The gravel runway is just over 3,500 feet long and aligned 16/34; there is no PAPI, but there is fuel available, both 100LL and JetA. There are flights by Air Inuit and a warning of caribou on the runway during October and November.

| Lac des Plages grass strip in Quebec Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Lac des Plages is in Quebec on the north shore of the lake (and village) of the same name, some 55 miles northeast of Ottawa. It is an old grass strip and next to a tourist trailer park ("caravan" to the English). The runway is almost north-south and 2,200 feet long, and I went there to see if it is still in use. It is in good condition but there was nobody to ask (in early April) if it is still used and nobody turned up see if a plane had landed. I doubt if it is used regularly as there are no "wear" marks that show up on a grass strip, and the flare pots (actually old wheel rims with charcoal in them?) beside the runway could have been lit three months ago or three years ago, there was no way to tell. The single hangar is obviously no longer in use as a hangar, and the lack of a fence between the trailers and the grass strip would be a danger to pilot and strolling pedestrian alike. However, the runway still exists and here it is and as in real life the northern end slopes unevenly up.

| Feelthere E175/E195 V3 SP1+ V3 Resized VC Textures |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
These are resized shared and shared lighting virtual cockpit textures for Version 3 (with SP1) of the Feelthere E175/E195 for Prepar3D Verion 4.5 and above. After Service Pack 1, released to date only for the Feelthere E175/E195, performance issues were experienced by some owners of the E175/E195 V3. Specifically, when switching views from the virtual cockpit (VC) to an exterior view and then back to the VC, some users experienced long load times and sustained low frame rates, in some cases as low as 5 fps or lower while in the VC view. The problem was experienced more often in the dusk to twilight times or at dawn. The textures related to these symptoms seem to be the shared textures and the shared lighting textures used by the virtual cockpit. This package is a set of those textures, resized to 2048x2048 (2K) from 4096x4096 (4K). Any textures smaller than 2K were not resized. These textures are only resized; no changes were made to any other attributes of characteristics of the DDS format files. NOTE: Feelthere has kindly given me permission to publish these textures and I thank them for that. To use these textures you must own a copy of the Feelthere Embraer E-JETS E175 AND E195 V3.

| CYDA - Dawson City - Yukon Territory, Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Dawson City is in the Yukon Territory, Canada, 140 miles south of Old Crow and about the same north of Whitehorse. The town has a population of just over 1,300 and is on the bank of the Yukon River; it is busy with nearby gold mining and tourism. There are regular flights by Air North, the Yukon airline, and I have included them in the AI along with ConAir and GA. Thanks go to Hernan for his Air North textures. The airport is beside the Klondike Highway that links Dawson City to Whitehorse, a few miles southwest of the town and the river. The runway approaches are steeper than most because of the surrounding hills and the Canada Flight Supplement notes that use is restricted to daylight hours, with some exceptions including emergencies. Runway 20 has right hand circuits. The runway is gravel and just over 5,000 feet long, aligned 02-20. There is a second apron for the activities of ConAir etc in the summer fire-fighting months. The "masts" are actually for fire hose drying; the ends of several 50 feet lengths are attached to a circular holder that is then pulled up to the top of the central pole.
