| Pober Pixie Light Aircraft |
|
File Description:
The Pober Pixie was a light aircraft designed in the United States in the early 1970s and marketed for homebuilding. It was a conventional parasol-wing monoplane with fixed tailwheel undercarriage and a single-seat, open cockpit. In response to the 1973 oil crisis, the EAA launched "Project Econoplane" to develop an aircraft with high fuel economy that would therefore be affordable for its members to operate. The Pober Pixie was the result, with fuel consumption of 3 to 3.5 US Gal (11 to 13 L) per hour. Plans were completed in January 1974 and the prototype flew in late July, in time for the EAA Annual Convention that year. After the convention, the prototype was returned to the shop for minor improvement work, including installation of a Limbach SL 1700 EA engine (60 hp @ 3550 rpm) and Rehm 5330 two-blade fixed-pitch propeller. The improvements were incorporated into the plans.

| RAF Polebrook |
|
File Description:
On June 28, 1942, RAF Polebrook was officially turned over to the USAAF and the airbase became the base of the 97th Bombardment Group, the first USAAF heavy bomber organization to arrive in the UK. It was designated USAAF Station 110.
The 97th BG was assigned to the 1st Combat Wing, at RAF Bassingbourn. It's operational squadrons were divided between Polebrook and RAF Grafton Underwood:
340th Bomb Squadron (RAF Polebrook)
341st Bomb Squadron (RAF Polebrook)
The 97th BG conducted a total of 14 missions from Polebrook, attacking airfields, marshalling yards, industries, naval installations, and other targets in France and the Low Countries.
The group sortied 247 aircraft, dropped 395 tons of bombs on Nazi-controlled territory, and lost 14 aircraft. On October 21, 1942, the 97th Bomb Group was transferred to the Twelfth Air Force in the Mediterranean theater and Polebrook was unoccupied until April 1943.
351st Bombardment Group (Heavy)
On April 15, 1943, the 351st Bomb Group arrived at RAF Polebrook. It was assigned to the 94th Combat Wing, also at Polebrook. The group tail code was a "Triangle J". It's operational squadrons were:
508th Bomb Squadron (YB)
509th Bomb Squadron (RQ)
510th Bomb Squadron (TU)
511th Bomb Squadron (DS)
Boeing B-17G-85-BO Flying Fortress, Serial 43-38465 of the 510th Bomb Squadron. This aircraft survived the war and returned to USA on 8 June 1945
Douglas-Long Beach B-17G-30-DL Flying Fortress Serial 43-38116 of the 509th Bomb Squadron. The 351st's first completed combat mission took place on May 14, 1943, when 18 B-17's targeted a German Luftwaffe airfield at Kortrijk, Belgium. As the war progressed, the 351st operated primarily against strategic objectives in Germany, striking such targets as ball-bearing plants at Schweinfurt, communications at Mayen, marshalling yards at Koblenz, a locomotive and tank factory at Hannover, industries at Berlin, bridges at Cologne, an armaments factory at Mannheim, and oil refineries at Hamburg. This is for FSX and you will need to have Ted Andrews's RAF Hangars Library and his other great RAF Buildings. They can
be found on AVSIM. Search the FSX section for "Ted Andrews" - you'll find loads of his scenery object files for
RAF airfields. Follow his instructions on how to install them.

| AN-22 Antheus Mastered |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
THIS IS MY FINAL AN-22 VERSION: Unveiled to the West in 1965, the Antonov An-22 was the world's largest aircraft, until the advent of the Lockheed C-5A Galaxy. Powered by 4 contra-rotating turboprops, the design remains the world's largest turboprop-powered airplane. The An-22 was originally built for the Soviet Air Force and Aeroflot, the state airline. A total of 68 aircraft were built during 1965-1975, from which 2 never flew, 19 have been preserved, and 33 removed from service. Currently only 7 are in service. Six of them are used by the Russian Air Force and one (UR-09307) belongs to Antonov Design Bureau, used for civil needs, and operates out of UKKM. The AN-22 is designed to carry heavy loads of 80 tonnes over a 3,000 nm range at high speed and moderate altitude. The civilian model is used for long and medium range flights with updated avionics and flight controls. The wing has a forward and rear sweep effect with a low taper ratio and moderate wing area for it's size. The tail includes twin vertical fins that help maintain stability. The engines are constant speed turboprops that include 2 four bladed contra-rotating props with auto-pitch, and this gives her a thrust rating of 15,211 shp and a fuel efficiency of .353 lb/hp/hr. The cargo area is 14 ft high and wide, and 108 ft long. All fuel is contained within the wings and in the upper fuselage (7 tanks). She has 12 wheels that carry most of the weight, and two steering wheels located behind the crew cabin. Cargo is loaded through the rear loading ramp. The cockpit is located high, as well as the crew quarters. Additional passengers (when present) are seated below the cockpit forward. Original Design and Textures by: Enrique Del Rosario; Sound by: Aaron R. Swindle; Panel by: Marco Spada; Auto Smoke Effects by Richard Wisman; Engine/Aero Dynamics, effects and data by: Douglas E. Trapp. Please Read the Readme AN22.txt file before operations.

| Douglas C-54 Belgian Air Force OT-CWU |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas C-54 KX-1 OT-CWU of the Belgian Air Force. In 1950 the Belgian Air Force acquired a Douglas C54A-10-DC Skymaster from Sabena to improve passenger conditions on the link to and from the Belgian Congo. KX-1 OT-CWU was c/n 10326 42-72221 and served with the US Navy as BuNo39174. It came to Belgium in 1947 and flew with Sabena as OO-CBS. In 1954 a second aircraft was bought from S.A.S. this being a DC-4-1009. With the appearance in 1958 of the larger C-118 (DC-6) both aircraft were mainly used as pure freighters. Both aircraft operated by the Melsbroek based 21st Squadron of the 15th Transport wing were withdrawn from use in 1971 and although both survived for some years (KX-1 at Torhout, KX-2 at Southend (U.K.) they finally were scrapped.

Images related to this file:
File Description:
AI Water "aircraft" for Lake Okanagan, BC. This package features an AI Sternwheeler ship, an AI Waco Bi-wing plane and AI Cabin Cruisers set on Lake Okanagan, near Penticton and Kelowna, BC, Canada. Offerred as an interesting scenery enhancement, it also demonstrates the use of the "forward departure" (no push-back) technique as applied to water based aircraft. A few EZ objects have also been used to decorate the dock areas where the AI "craft" will be seen. This enhancement has been tested with the default FS2004 scenery only and may not work with other enhancements (such as UT-Canada) which alter the shorelines of Lake Okanagan. Other downloads may be required or are recommended. Complete details about these will be found in the instructions. Please unzip to a temporary folder and follow the easy installation instructions. Compiled for your flying enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall.

| Project Airlift 99th Airlift Squadron #1 |
|
File Description:
The 99th Airlift Squadron is a member of the 89th Airlift Wing stationed at Andrews AFB. Although the 99th flies more than C-9C VIP transports, there are no viable AI models for the other bizjets that they fly. There is an excellent C-9C paint by Boback Shahsafdari (aia_c9_c_usaf.zip) available at Avsim. It is based on the AI Aardvark DC-9-30. There are only 3 C-9C transports assigned to the 99th. Project Airlift has scheduled one C-9C to fly between Washington DC and the various HQ of the United States Air Forces in Europe. Another C-9C flies between the HQ of the Air Mobility Command and the HQ of the 15th and 21st Air Forces. The last C-9C visits the HQ of all major Air Force Commands in the CONUS during the week and spends the weekend ferrying VIPs between the HQ of the Air Combat Command and the HQ of the 8th, 9th, and 12th Air Forces. Ttools by Lee Swordy is required.
