Cessna 421 advanced physics Download

File Description:
C421C advanced physics Modification for the Alabeo C421 C Golden Eagle Version: tested for P3DV4; should work also with P3DV5 (and probably FSX) 1. Why I developed the advanced physics version I was asked via this forum, via PMs and also by e-mails to provide a modified version of the Alabeo C421C which can be used for serious multi-engine training. It should have accurate type specific performance for both AEO (all engine operative) and OEI (one engine inoperative), the latter for either a windmilling prop at various speeds and for a feathered engine. Feathering should work as realistic as possible. Thus, I developed an advanced physics version of the Alabeo C421C. It shows realistic physics for negative thrust (prop drives engine). This is necessary for OEI training and more realistic idle power simulation. 2. Modified files Modification includes “c421.air” and “aircraft.cfg” files. Data is based on real world Cessna 421C, N100L, 421C-0313. Aircraft data, equipment list, checklist and other documents for N100L, as well as some images of C421C, registration N100L, can be found here, too. Unfortunately, due to copyrights, I can’t upload the full files and can’t provide the AFM and other copyright protected documents. 3. How to install To update “c421.air”: - Copy the original Alabeo C421 to another aircraft folder, e.g. “C421C advanced physics”. - Use AirEd (freeware) and open the original “c421.air”. Open AirEd a second time and open “modifications advanced physics c421.air”. Copy the modified tables 511 and 512 to the original .air file (right click in modification file -> copy -> right click on original file -> replace from clipboard) To update “aircraft.cfg”: Just copy the modifications to the corresponding position in the original file. 4. Legend of modifications Modifications in aircraft.cfg: - Basic Empty Mass (actual mass for N100L 5,154 lbs inserted; most C421C are more heavy, ours is on diet) - correct basic data for engines + props - engine friction included (necessary for all negative thrust scenarios) - flaps lift + drag scalar adjusted (split flaps) - 2 vacuum pumps - VMO = 151 KIAS; VNE= 240 KIAS - cabin: max. differential pressure: 5.0 psi Modifications in c421.air: - implemented negative thrust scenarios in prop thrust and efficiency curves (tables 511 + 512); adjusted thrust curves for high TAS at high ALT 5. Side effects of modifications: - more realistic engine starting: starting the engine needs the throttle to be 2 cm above idle (see checklist) for the first 15 seconds - if you start the engine and don’t retard the prop to medium RPMs immediately, you will overstress engine and prop. So be careful when doing an air start, you might lose the prop and the aircraft. (In the real aircraft, these effects are less severe, but you have to avoid high RPMs until the engine is warmed up and have to avoid rapid change of RPM.) 6. Additional Notes: - Basic aircraft data as published by the manufacturer, like range and service ceilings, especially OEI, are based on MTOM. - The use of high payloads close to MTOM and higher ambient temperatures are making for a more challenging OEI training. - In the sim, climb power is too low compared to full power (about 65 % instead of 75 %). I have to find a way to adjust that. - I have buttons for engine failure under the mixture (see images) - Seat Position is, like in many Aircraft, higher than as per Default by the sim. For the C421C and me being 5 ft 7 in, that's about 7 clicks arrow up.

Dave's Aerodrome Airport (7NJ9), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 01 miles SW of Cedarville, New Jersey on 43 acres of land, Dave's Aerodrome Airport is a private turf field 2000' with a 600' displaced threshold on Runway 12. Each runway has a clear 20:1 approach slope, but in the case of Runway 12 be sure to aim for a landing past the hangar! There are power lines running along the road at the runway threshold that are not just there for decoration - come in too low and FSX will register a crash. In real life they have red balls on them - unfortunately I have no way of adding those in the sim at this time. So be on the lookout while on approach. Also take note that it is a right pattern for Runway 12 and a left pattern for Runway 30. The windsock is located next to the hangar and is not lit. There are no lights at this airport so daytime VFR operations only are suggested. No services are offered for transient aircraft. There is no hard-surfaced runway, you will be landing on bare terrain so set your mesh complexity slider as high as it will go for the best effect. Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 005. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

Beaver Creek CYXQ in Yukon Territory, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Beaver Creek is located at mile 1202 of the Alaska Highway, just east of the Alaska/Yukon border. The populaton is around 100 and the main employment is with the Border Agency, the White River First Nation, or with local tourist lodges. The airfield is a mile north of the town and close to the Canadian border post, which is included in the scenery. It was built by Jack Stalberg in the 1960's, and I have no further information beyond the fact that he loved to fly. The airport serves as an "airport of entry", though it is restricted in hours of opening and in the size of aircraft that it can handle; up to a maximum of only 15 seats. The single runway is 3,745 feet long and 100 feet wide, gravel, aligned 13-31 in FS9, lit, and with vasi at both ends. Righthand circuits for runway 13. There is a 340 feet threshold displacement to runway 31, which is of course unmarked on a gravel runway. The terminal building was recently reclad; I don't like it, but they didn't consult me. The ai reflects the sort of traffic the airfield gets; ie brief paperwork stopovers for GA or small charter flights into Canada from Alaska, usually in the mornings.I have adjusted the local scenery terrain levels to remove adjacent hills that I believe do not exist in real life but are part of the Northern Canada terrain mesh that I have installed. If you do not have this mesh you may find that the scenery works fine for you without the API flatten that is included here. The airfield is at 2,129 feet ASL.

Nick's Space Shuttle Landing Challenge FINAL RELEASE Download

File Description:
Featuring the Space Shuttle Discovery and celebrating NASA's return to space! This package contains the most up to date version of my Space Shuttle Landing Challenge (v1.2). I am providing it as a FINAL single installation package to eliminate the need for multiple update files. This package includes the Space Shuttle Discovery redesigned using actual NASA-Boeing mechanical/aeronautical engineering data, a panel, sounds and shuttle landing FX. The space shuttle in the sim (like the real shuttle) has the ability to water 'ditch' and belly land in an emergency or if improperly landed on the suspension system. You can select the sensitivity of the main landing gear struts (less crashes) for those who are novice to flying critical tolerances. This package includes a CHALLENGE FLIGHT ADVENTURE PACKAGE and features a reference list of the flights along with approach/landing procedure tips to the kneeboard (F-10) for you to refer to while in flight. The adventure pack will provide a set of 11 challenge flights spanning the globe for the space shuttle re-entry simulation. A Bonus PACK of CrashBar effects including smoke, fire, explosions and other nasty reminders of landing mistakes is included as an optional installation. The original .mdl file is by Matthew Moxon and a modified for FS9 panel byTom Kellner. Model repaint, flight dynamics, air file, sound.cfg, adventure flights and shuttle landing\crash FX by Nick Needham. Includes NASA's description of the entire landing process which you can now experience in Flight Simulator! This package includes an install for FS2002 as well and supersedes all other update packages. ENJOY! Nick Needham, [email protected]

LGSM Samos International Airport, Greece Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
LGSM Samos International Airport, Greece. The island of Samos lies in the Eastern Aegean and is a very popular tourist destination for flights from Berlin, Munich, Gatwick, Oslo, Copenhagen, Rome and many others. It is widely regarded as the most dangerous airport in Greece, mountainous terrain requires a sharp right hand turn onto runway 09 and landings are invariably subject to strong turbulence. The airport has been designed to sit on the excellent photoreal scenery by Dimitris Ntaskas, which is available here on Avsim and called 'samos_305814.zip'. It also uses many objects from my lgkf_kefallinia.zip scenery also available here at Avsim. The scenery has been designed for and tested with DX9 and FSXA only, if used with the default terrain many objects will be misplaced. The scenery features a very detailed airport, repositioned according to satellite imagery and is based on real photographs. Full night lighting is included with washed lighting of the apron and carparks. The nearby town of Pythagorio has been modelled and includes some local landmarks. I have included many autogen style buildings based on photographs of Samos and also autogen trees native to the region. The airport includes many animations, including olive trees, flags, people, windsocks, birds, road traffic and waves. Local Air traffic between the neighbouring islands of Chios, Mykonos, Kos and Rhodes is included, as is a panoramic view from inside the new tower. All the files have been sub-divided and can be switched on or off according to user preference. Full installation instructions, settings, hints and tips can be found in the readme file. Please enjoy and I hope you like my scenery as much as I enjoyed building it.

B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The B-2A Stealth Bomber is the most sophisticated aircraft on the planet. She is essentially a “Flying Wing” platform with no V-Tail, and is controlled by pre-programed flight computers stationed in various positions within the crew cabin and wings. There is one main computer that controls the aircraft, with two redundant back-up computers assigned to it in case of failure. All additional computers are assigned to functions involving flight control, system monitoring, data communications, and radar. Engine and Aerodynamic effects are controlled by these computers which serve several actuators and ailerons, including the spoilerons, which further compensate for the lack of a V-Tail. In theory, and because of these computers, the aircraft is “Stall-Proof”. The only way it can stall is if the computers fail. There is no way she can be flown without the computers active. The REAL aircraft does almost everything based on pre-programed data, other than taxi to the runway (although this is also possible to program). Before each flight, the Mission is designed and then assigned to the Mission Flight Box (Portable Computer) which is then carried by the Commander to the aircraft, and the data from the box is “transferred” to the main on-board computers. Because of this, the B-2 cannot be flown until the box is ready for the mission, and pilots cannot simply jump in and fly her, with the exception that the data is transferred via satellite. Everything is pre-planned, and this takes several hours. Once the data is on-board, the taxi can begin. When lined-up on the runway, all the pilot needs to do is push a button or three. Everything else is computer controlled until landing. The aircraft CAN be flown manually with basic data inputs into the main computer systems, but even in that case it is not conventional. If a pilot wants to turn right, he sets the data to turn to a certain degrees of heading. The same with climb and descent, speed increase or decrease. A pilot cannot over-ride the computers in any case, so steep banks, climbs, or descents cannot be forced. There is a lot of space for the two member crew within the cockpit, but there is also a space reserved for one observer. This additional seat is known as “Suicide Position” because there is no ejection seat for that observer. In the event of a mishap, the observer can try to bail-out through the ejection hatches after the pilots, or can try the exit ramp door, or the bomb bay as an exit route. The odds of escape for the observer are very small, but he has a parachute as reassurance. Otherwise, what the crew does during missions is only a guess, since they really don't have to do anything unless an alarm goes off. Since the plane flies so smooth, we can only imagine what sort of things they may dream-up to entertain themselves during a long flight. High altitude flights are conducted at night mainly due to the obvious contrail such a flight will exhibit during the day with such hot engines. The engines are encased in a heat absorbing shield material (still exhaust exists), and the rest of the plane is coated with Radar absorbant material, with the additional low profile effect of the aircraft design itself. If it can be seen by the ground or a fighter, it can be attacked by fighters or the ground. During daytime flight they will stay below the contrail level, and monitor the radar systems in preparations for counter-measures. If a fighter can visually observe them, the fighter may be able to shoot them down with bullets from behind, but not likely with missiles because of the sophisticated counter-measures available. On Radar the aircraft appears the size of a pigeon, until about 8 to 10 miles away, which would be too late to counter from the ground, so most attacks are either done at night or during the day at very low altitude. Upon landing the aircraft is automated down to about 200 feet AGL, when the pilot takes command. All she/he does at this point is allow her to glide down and contact the runway, and retard the engines. Brakes are used to slow, then the computers are turned off, and the pilot can control the throttles, nose gear, and brakes. The Commander watches for obstructions, mainly, and communicates with the tower and ground crew. Everything in this model has been reconfigured to meet realistic standards, without any tricks or flight tuning, and following real world aerodynamic principals and available data, including MOI. The panel requires study before use, but very realistic. The sounds are very authentic. There is no other model offered anywhere that compares to what you have now available in front of you. Please read and study the Readme.txt file within the main folder before attempting to fly this 2.2 Billion Dollar aircraft. Yes, that's correct ... $2,200,000,000 each! The use of this model, and the configuration of such, is designed for educational purposes, and protected by the Free Use Act: (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/107). Frozen Canadian & USA Rivers & Lakes Revision Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This "freezes" all lakes and rivers for winter flying and means they can be landed on with skis or wheels; it is meant for low level flying rather than high level jet flights. This edition is complete in itself and now really covers all of Canada and parts of the USA along the border, including large parts of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. It is reversible with an "untick" in the FS scenery library. The revision is the addition of frozen sea in the area of Baffin Island (where I and Sid & Pete have recently posted all of the Baffin Island airfields) as I missed this area last time. Sorry about that. I have spent some time making sure that the sea and the inlets along the coast in the south do not get frozen too, and also some of the lakes that are close to the coast and rarely get cold enough to freeze over. The Great Lakes do not usually totally freeze, but this is an either ON or OFF modification and partial freezing cannot be convincingly simulated, so I went for total ice. Along the north shore I went for the peak of the winter with sea ice all the way to the permanent polar cap; this is not totally realistic as there is usually a partially open lead along the coast, but as with the Great Lakes...... It will work without Ultimate Terrain, but as UT is what gets all the lakes and rivers there and in the right place (except in the far north) it is obviously much improved with UT. The pics show Rockcliffe in the winter with the frozen Ottawa River for real and in FS for comparison; without UT the river would not be in the right place.

WASF Fak-Fak Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Googly scenery for WASF Fak-Fak, in Irian Jaya (Western New Gunea), Indonesia - a small domestic airport that Microsoft managed to omit from Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files add the runway, apron, taxiways, buildings and other airport features so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner. Little information is available on the services operated - flight plans are available for Lion Airlines showing two flights per week operated on their behalf by Wings Abadi Dash 8 aircraft. But it is known that Merpati Nusentara also serve the airport with Twin Otters. If you are using the Lion Airlines flight plans for Winter 2006, you must change the airport's co-ordinates as detailed in the readme.txt file because the co-ordinates given there will cause the aircraft to aim for a point on the wrong side of the equator in the middle of the sea! There is no lighting at this airport, and few navigational aids. However, I have added a missing NDB nearby (FA, 380.0). The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. The quality of the satellite imagery at Google Earth is poor, but a number of photographs and other information has enabled this airport to be depicted reasonably accurately. However the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look exactly like the real thing. You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without. An editvoicepack file has been included for the airport to help you embarrass yourself in front of others when flying. [File re-uploaded at request of AVSIM]

The 'AirVeteran' Finnish Airlines DC-3 Download

File Description:
The DC-3 AirVeteran FINNISH Airlines livery textures Day and night bitmaps are for the Leif Ohlson´s X-Plane 6.30+ DC-3 by: Miguel Angel Alvarez Gallardo. Spain. Nov. 2002 The first time I saw this pretty plane was on the model made by Jam Visser for fs2000 (TM), and I fall in love with it, as far as I take the textures from his plane and adapted to the great ( genial ! ) DC-3 for X-Plane by Leif Ohlsson. I asked Jam Visser several post, but I never released it! The next livery for Leif Ohlsson plane was the SAS livery " Daisy " and this time it was released. It liked Leif Ohlsson so much that He told me We could make a group! I began to design a new bare metal base texure in order to release several liveries, and when it was made, I decided release another again the AirVeteran FINNISH Airlines, but this time with a textures enterely by my own! I think it´s better than the first for this plane and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed desingnig it! These textures are freeware! But: They can´t be used in any way for comercial purposes, neither can be manipulated or alter in any way. These textures only can be distribute in this original package! These textures are released as there and no responsability in any way will be derivated from its use These textures can´t be used for other authors or other simulators, neither manipulated or alter in any way for any purposes without my permission. They have been the result of a lot of work and with the unestimable help of Leif Ohlson. These textures are as the real DC-3 fuselaje. Enjoy!
