The town of Kotzebue is in the far northwest of Alaska, and served by Alaska Airlines. These are villages to the (mostly) east of Kotzebue on the South Slope of the Brooks Range of mountains, served by local flights from Kotzebue. There will be further additions. Kiana is a small village (population now around 360) on the bank of the Kobuk River, around 60 miles east of Kotzebue. The airfield, called Baker Memorial, is just north of the village, with 4,000 feet of lit gravel aligned 06-24 (as are several other runways in the area) with PAPI on 24. There are scheduled flights by Era (now renamed Ravn) and by Bering Air, both of them originating in Kotzebue and routing east to Noorvik, Kiana, Ambler, Shungnak, Kobuk, and then back again. The AI includes these flights along with Everts Air and Northern Air Cargo flights and GA. In real life the runway is around 200 yards closer to the village; this complicated the removal of roads and revised ground textures so I left it as is to make my life easier. The post includes missing night textures that were omitted from the post of Noatak PAWN. Noatak also has incorrectly installed original FS9 taxiway lights that were, as a result, impossible to remove. I had hoped to somehow manage it, but there is no way.

This folder contains a repaint for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX by Real Air. It shows Spitfire IXc ML214 5J-K as flown by Squadron Leader Ioannis Agorastos "John" Plagis of RAF 126 (Persian Gulf) Squadron, based in RAF Culmhead, may 1944. S/L Plagis was born in Rhodesia of Greek parents and was officially listed as a Greek pilot with the RAF. He enlisted in october 1940, and was trained in the UK before being sent to the Mediterranean. He flew a Spitfire off HMS Eagle to Malta, where he soon became the first Spitfire ace with 249 squadron. His final score on Malta was 10, keeping a vow he made when a friend of his was shot down by the Germans. He returned to the UK in august 1942 and spent a year as an instructor. He returned to active duty in september 1943 as CO of 64 squadron, and joined No 126 squadron in january 1944. He picked ML214 as his personal aircraft because of the K on the tail, since all his aircraft were always named after his sister Kay. He ended the war flying Mustangs, with an official score of 16 aircraft and two probables, making him the highest ranking Rhodesian and Greek pilot. This folder contains a repaint for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX by Real Air. It shows Spitfire IXc BS273, which was one of the Spitfires modified for high altitude interceptions, based at Northolt, 1942, and regularly flown by F/O Prince Emmanuel Galitzine. The prince was a Russian immigrant, a great grandson of Tsar Paul 1. After the Russian revolution, his family fled Russia, ending up in England. He wanted to fly, and when the Russian attacked Finland, he decided to join the Finnish Air Force. However, on hearing his mother was killed in the London blitz, he returned to the uK (via the US and Canada) and joined the RAF, becoming a Spitfire pilot with the Special Service Flight in Northolt. On 12 september 1942, he intercepted a JU-86 above Southampton at 41.000ft and attacked it. The battle went up to 43.000 ft, and was the highest recorded air battle of WWII. His spitfire only had two cannons, and one of them was frozen solid, giving a very unbalanced flight while shooting, combined with excessive vapor trails of his ammunition. It is believed he managed to hit the german aircraft, but in the end it got away safely. However, since the Germans now knew they could be intercepted, they launched no more high altitude attacks on the UK. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by RealAir.

| Ontario Small Fields in Canada: #05 Pelee Island (CYPT) |

This is the fifth in a series of small airfields in southern Ontario Canada, Pelee Island CYPT, an airfield on the island in Lake Erie and the southernmost airfield in Canada. The airfield has an asphalt runway of 3,300 feet, aligned 09/27 in FS9 while today in real life it is 10/28 due to the wandering magnetic pole. There is also a second runway, 36/18 and around 1,500 feet of gravel. There is a small terminal building which now has blue cladding; here it is still in the dirty yellow of the original colour scheme.
This version is based upon what appears to be a "lost" 2005 scenery of Pelee Island. When I started to make Pelee Island I discovered that in fact I already had a version installed; my memory can be excused, as I installed it in 2005. I modified the scenery to include parking, taxiways that connected, revised runway markings, new windsocks, new signage, larger apron, parked cars and planes, revised landclass, AI, etc. My intention was to instruct you to download and install the original and then incorporate my changes. Problem: it does not appear to exist for download; perhaps it was washed away when the Avsim site crashed. I have included it in this post. If anyone knows who made it please let me know.

Unfortunately, between the early 1990s and 1998, Nigeria Airways had drastically reduced it's European network, ending service to places like London and Amsterdam and disposing of most of the A310s and DC-10s. Flights to Dubai were now on a charter basis, with the DC-10 only doing a LOS-KAN-JED route once per week. The DC-10 also did maintenance in MIA, so I included a ferry flight there but it usually sits in Lagos unused. A single PW-powered A310-200 and a DC-10-30 were doing the longhaul flights while the A310s and several 737-200s were flying around Africa. There were 3 A310s stored; 2 in Lagos and one impounded in BRU(to become a cafe in 12/99) with none in flying conditions. I have them sitting idle in LOS as in real life, but since they were not in flying condition, they only do a touch and go landing once per week in the middle of the night. I will give them proper parking spots when I do the LOS ADEX eventually, but delete them if you wish. Flightplans by Chasen Richardson. Repaints are in the Avsim library, filenames included. Hazyview is one of the gateway towns to the Kruger National Park and is located just to the West of Phabeni Gate, one of the main gates to use if you are travelling to Skukuza. The airfield in Hazyview is also called Numbi Airfield due to the location of the Numbi Hotel right next to the airfield.
Hazyview airfield is not included in the default scenery of FS2004. With this package, it has been faithfully produced in Gmax with photoreal textures on all the buildings and a photoreal ground as well. Even the Lowveld mall to the North of the airfield and right on the approach to Rwy 19 as well as the Building supplies store to the south and on approach to Rwy 01 is inlcuded with custom models and textures. Likewise, the buildings to the West of the runway (right at the edge of the runway) and the brickyard at the Northern end is modeled with custom models and textures. The two large cellphone antennas are also present in the airport scenery and custom made.
In real life, the runway is quite sloped and this was also recreated in the scenery under the limitations FS2004 presents with regards to non-flat airports.
The grass runway is aligned 01/19 and only 820m long. Take-off is on Rwy 01, with landings on Rwy 19.

Welcome to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon!
This scenery is a mostly fictitious representation of what the North Rim might look like of it had been developed like the South rim. A new airport (KKPA, Kaibab Plateau Airport) is the centerpiece. It sits at 8,730 ft MSL so density altitude is a real issue. Runway 17/35 is 6,500ft long so biz jets can get in and out safely. A new resort sits atop the ridge to the east [Eagle's Nest]. There is a helipad for access. An NDB makes finding it easier [AZ95 220.9 kHz]. Or you can just follow the traffic on the access road that branches off from highway 67 just south of the airport. To the north I have added a gravel strip to Jacob Lake where 67 joins 89A. Runway 14/32 is 3000 ft long and sits at 7900 ft MSL. An NDB [AZ93 393 kHz] is included. At the south end of Highway 67 sits the North Rim Visitor Center. There is a helipad on the roof for those who like rotary wing challenges. The NDB is AZ94 at 423.4 kHz. The entire length of Highway 67 is represented with traffic going both ways. You will see
air traffic from KGCN at the South Rim and traffic between KKPA and Jacob Lake.
