F6F-5K Hellcat 6 VU-5 Drone Download

File Description:
cfs2/Grumman F6F-5K Hellcat 6 VU-5 Drone, Naha AB, Okinawa, 1958. Painted over The B24 Guy's F6F-3 Overhaul Model. At the start of the Korean War, these F6F's were designated "Drones." As Drones, they were used as remote-controled BOMBS (suicide bombers, without the pilots). The basis for this skin was that of an official Navy photo of the aircraft parked near the landing strip on the Air Base at Naha, in 1958. Hiller YH-32 Hornet Download

File Description:
The Hiller YH-32 Hornet (company designation HJ-1) was an American ultralight helicopter built by Hiller Aircraft in the early 1950s. It was a small and unique design because it was powered by two Hiller 8RJ2B ramjet engines mounted on the rotor blade tips. Versions of the HJ-1 Hornet were built for the United States Army and the United States Navy in the early 1950s. This model includes a virtual cockpit with fully animated pilot, custom sounds and airfile. For more vintage helicopters come visit us at vintagehelicopterdesign.com

Douglas f4d-1 Skyray Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The Douglas F4D Skyray (later re-designated F-6 Skyray) was an American carrier-based fighter/interceptor built by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Although it was in service for a relatively short time and never entered combat, it was notable for being the first carrier-launched aircraft to hold the world's absolute speed record,[1] and was the first United States Navy and United States Marine Corps fighter capable of exceeding Mach 1 in level flight. It would be the last fighter produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company.

North American Rockwell T-39 Sabreliner Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The North American Sabreliner (later sold as the Rockwell Sabreliner) is a mid-sized business jet developed by North American Aviation. It was offered to the U.S. Air Force in response to their Utility Trainer Experimental (UTX) program. Due to similarity of the wing and tail to North American's F-86 Sabre, it was dubbed "Sabreliner." Military variants, designated T-39 Sabreliner, were used by both the U.S Air Force and U.S. Navy after the Air Force placed an initial order in 1959. The Sabreliner was also developed into a commercial variant.

Boeing B-17G 91st BG (LL-E) "Shoo shoo shoo baby" restored Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, the former "Shoo shoo shoo baby". In 1968, the ancestry of F-BGSH, an old B-17 languishing in derelict state on Creil Airfield in France, was discovered by the Australian aviation historian Steve Birdsall, who notified the USAF museum that this was a combat veteran that had flown operational missions, in contrast to most other surviving B-17's. Following negotiations, the B-17 was donated to the US by the French Government. Interestingly, its Swedish heritage attracted interest from Sweden as well, but nothing came of this. The aircraft was disassembled at Creil and trucked to Frankfurt and flown to the US in 1972, where it arrived, packed in 27 crates. No plans or funds for restoration were present at the time, but in 1977, Mike Leiston, a technician at Dover AFB contacted the museum about the possibility of restoring one of the museum's aircraft by volunteers at Dover AFB. With project approved, 42-32076 was transported to Dover, with the aim of restoring it to a stock wartime B-17G. Upon arrival, Paul McDuffee, who had flown her for 13 missions, was present, and the reunion was clearly an emotional one as he commented "I've just got to go over and kiss her", which he did. The restoration continued to 1988,and after some 60.000 ma hours, "Shoo shoo shoo baby"took to the skies again for the first time on 11 september. On 14 october 1988, she flew for the last time, to the USAF museum near Dayton, Ohio, where she can still be seen. The main difference with her wartime looks is the fact that she currently sports an olive drab camouflage paint, which was necessary due to all the metal work needed to bring her back to a stock B-17G condition. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.
