Quaqtaq CYHA in Hudson Strait, Quebec, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Quaqtaq is a small village of 310 or so inhabitants at N 61 W 69 37 on the Hudson Strait at the northwest corner of Ungava Bay. It's name has some connection with "tapeworm" in Inuit; there is a story but I won't recount it here. The village does not feature in FS9 but is included in this scenery with approximately the right shape. No village buildings were specifically modeled; they are hand-made non-specific village houses typical of the north. The airfield runway is 3,520 feet of gravel 100 feet wide and is at 103 feet above the shoreline. I added the roads, a new airfield background, plus of course there is the scenery file and the AFCAD and AI, which is an Air Inuit Dash 8-300. This is the last of a series in northern Quebec that all have similar terminal buildings; I know of others which have the same type of building but I have no photos to discover the differences.

South African Airways (New Colours) Boeing 747-400 Repaint Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the South African Airways B747-400 'KEMPTONPARK' for the PMDG 747 QOTSII product. It reflects B747-400 ZS-SAX in the new South African Airways livery before her retirement. South African Airways operated six Rolls Royce RB211-powered B747-400's and two General Electric powered variants, coming to a total of eight B747-400's. This is not a fictional repaint. You will require the PMDG 747-400 QOTSII to be able to use this livery. Please note, I am not a professional repainter, and as such there maybe some inaccuracies here and there, but I enjoy creating these repaints for others to use and to enjoy if they so please. Please note that the thumbnail contains the PMDG logo to denote that it is to be used with the PMDG 747 QOTSII product line. Stereo Sound Upgrade for Bristol Hercules Engines Download

File Description:
This stereo sound upgrade of Harry Follas's Bristol Hercules piston-engine sounds for FS98 was created primarily for use with the Handley Page Hermes by Georg Hauzenberger, but should work well with any aircraft that was fitted with these engines. This includes aircraft such as the Handley Page Hastings, Grumman Albatross, Nord Noratlas, Vickers Viking, Short Solent, Avro Lancaster (Mk2 models) and the Bristol Beaufighter. By converting the sounds to FS2004 multiple-engine stereo, the engines now emit a realistic piston-engine roar at full throttle, but this quietens down to a more subtle sound in cruise. Other associated sounds have been added - ehgine startup, shutdown and wind effects in flight. Touchdown effects will now detect if the aircraft is landing on ground or water so you can comfortably use these sounds with amphibious aircraft. Requires original FS98 soundpack by Harry Follas hercsnd.zip (the files are also distributed with the Handley Page Hermes and Hastings models and probably others too.

Project EL AL - Boeing 737-800 For NGXu (4X-EKA) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Project EL AL's Boeing 737-800 package for PMDG 737 NGXu, made for Prepar3Dv4.5. This package includes 4X-EKA, named "Tiberias", in EL AL's revised-standard color scheme and features a complete, remastered paint from scratch made regardless of any other previous packages released of this aircraft for older addons. This painting was made possible using the original blueprints drawn for EL AL for the real-life aircraft; in addition to hundreds of Ultra High-Res photos taken by inside sources and others, including high quality closeup images and other material not to be found in external sources such as Airliners.net, Jetphotos.net, etc. Each aircraft uploaded in this package has been uploaded with the specific cockpit configuration present in the real aircraft alongside an enhanced cockpit environment aiming to simulate the specific aircraft in real life. The rest of the fleet, including special additions for this livery can be found separately in AVSIM. Happy landing

GABS Bamako Senou International Airport Download

File Description:
Bamako Senou International Airport (IATA: BKO, ICAO: GABS) is Malis main airport approximately 15 km south of downtown Bamako, the capital of Mali in West Africa. It is managed by Aeroports du Mali (ADM). Its operations are overseen by the Malian Ministry of Equipment and Transports. Senou Airport was opened to traffic in 1974. The airport was upgraded between 2007 and 2012 in a 181 million US dollar project funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a United States foreign aid agency. Passenger traffic steadily increased in the early 2000s. Government figures show 403,380 passengers in 1999, 423,506 in 2003, 486,526 in 2004, and 516,000 in 2005. It is predicted to reach over 900,000 by 2015 under a low (4%) yearly growth rate scenario. To date this growth rate has been surpassed. Total air traffic at BKO increased by 12.4% in 2007 and 14% in 2008. Most of this increase came in passenger transport, with the number of passengers served increasing by 20% in 2007 and 17% in 2008. Twenty-seven airline carriers operated weekly or better at BKO in the 2007-2008 period. This continued growth was offset by cargo flights decline of 16.75% in 2007, and 3.93% in 2008. The highest frequency route is on the Bamako-Dakar sector with 29 weekly non-stop connections. Domestic flights also serve Mali's regional capitals Kayes, Mopti, Timbuktu, Sikasso, Gao, and Kidal. This work is dedicated to West Wind Airlines.

RAF Upper Heyford EGUA 1955-1962 Download

File Description:
EGUA RAF Upper Heyford 1955-1962 The airfield was originally built in 1918 by the Royal Air Force on land owned by New College Oxford, closed briefly after the end of the First World War and then re-opened in the 1920s. During the Second World War it was used by units of RAF Bomber Command but these were training rather than operational forces, even if aircraft of the 16th OTU (Operational Training Unit) may sometimes have taken part in bombing operations against the Third Reich. New runways were laid in 1942. During the Cold War Upper Heyford was chosen as one of the airfields used to operate bomber aircraft belonging to the US Strategic Air Command, and in 1950 the main runway was extended while new hardstandings were constructed for the bombers concerned. However, units were not stationed there permanently, but did Temporary Duty Assignments from their bases in the US. They included the 93rd Bomb Wing, 97th Air Refueling Squadron, 509th Air Refueling Squadron, 301st Bomb Wing, 8th Air Sea Rescue Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing, 5th Bomb Wing Detachment, and the 22nd Bomb Wing. Aircraft included the B-50 Superfortress, (briefly) the B-36 Peacemaker, the B-47 and from 1960 the B-52. There were further significant developments after 1962 which fall outside the remit of this scenery, Upper Heyford being finally returned to the British Ministry of Defence in 1994 after the end of the Cold War.

TU-95MS Bear H Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The Russian Air Force 37th Air Army operates the TU-95MS (TU-95M 55 Bear H) from the 182th TBAP unit based in Zavitinsk and 6213 BKHUAT based at Engels Air Base in the Moscow Region. It's use is primarily in maritime operations. She carries cruise missiles even if only used for submarine comms. Her initial design is a competitor with the B-52, but uses 4 Turboprop engines with 8 contra-rotating props. She can fly about as far as, but not as high as the B-52, nor can she fly as fast. She is often monitored off the coast of Alaska and easily met with F-22 Raptors every time. She is also often met by NATO fighters near European borders. Since 45,000 feet is about the highest she can cruise, most fighters can meet her. Her real danger is the cruise missiles which, if launched, have a range more than 1,500 nm and can pinpoint any directed target using GPS ground control. She is normally flown in formations of 3 or more, but sometimes only 2 are observed. She is not designed to fly fast over low terrain, like the B-52, but can do-so if necessary, and dangerously. The aircraft has not seen any major improvements or modifications since the cold war era, and several have crashed due to lack of maintenance. It is currently unknown how many are in service condition. Since much is unknown about this aircraft, yet enough is known to re-create an authentically working model, I have done-so here. Every bit of the aircraft.cfg file and associated .air file has been re-worked to match what known data can offer, and known aerodynamic formulas can equate. The most difficult aspect is the Turboprop aspect, since Turboprop engines do not work like jet engines in any way. Luckily for the simmer, there is no need to adjust feathering or anything like that would be necessary in a normal Turboprop because these engines are self-adjusting. Even though they meet the full known specs of the real engines, I have actually worked all the math to make them actual Turboprop engines (not pseudo-jet engines). That may sound exciting, but you must remember that she is a prop-driven aircraft, and not a jet. Even though you can fly her like a jet, the engines do not adjust like a jet. All aspects have been configured to meet realistic standards, including the MOI factors, weight/balance (including payload positions), gear locations, aircraft dimensions, light positions, engine smoke locations and operations, and weight. I did not simply throw this together, but have been perfecting her for many years. Original Modeler/Sounds: Vladimir Zhyhulskiy (2006); Panel: Marco Spada; Auto Smoke Effects: Richard Wisman; Aero/Engine Dynamics, effects, and details: Douglas E. Find ICAO in BGL-files Download

File Description:
Data about airports and navaids (among others) are contained in binary files - generally in ...\scenery\*.bgl files in FS9 as well as in FSX. Apart from simple modifications of such data, which are possible using the AFCAD 2 AddOn tool, changes of parameters at a specified location have to be made within one of the bgl files mentioned by disassembling, re-writing and re-compiling them. As there exist hundreds of these files in the simulation program, it is not easy to find the correct one for a modification of the corresponding data. automates the search for the right bgl file by parsing all files in a selected folder or even in a whole subdirectory tree: Given the ICAO code of an airport or navaid, the program creates a text file with the position(s) and name(s) - if there are any - of those bgl files in either FS9 or FSX, in which the searched data is hidden. The program does not alter or delete existing files.
