| Douglas XC-112A/YC-112A |

File Description:
In order to meet a USAAF requirement for an improved version of the C-54 Skymaster, Douglas proposed in July 1944 a simple development of the C-54E, combining its unpressurised fuselage with 2100 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800 C series engines: the XC-112. Soon this idea was dropped in favour of the stretched and pressurised XC-112A. The XC-112A made its first flight on 15 February 1946 and was in fact the prototype of the civil DC-6. Following the first initial testing the aircraft was delivered on 22 June 1946 to the USAAF, designated YC-112A, where it flew 9 years before starting a 21 years spanning commercial career as a DC-6. | Douglas VC-118-DO 'The Independence' |

File Description:
This Douglas VC-118-DO was the personal aircraft of President Harry S. Truman. It was named 'The Independence' after President Truman's home town in Missouri. The aircraft was delivered on 1 July 1947 and served from 4 July 1947 on as a presidential aircraft till 1953 when Gen. Dwight Eisenhower became President of the USA. It seems that the rather special paint job was based on an idea by President Truman himself. 46-0505 served on as a general VIP transport till 1966 when it was donated to the Smithonian Institute for preservation. It is on loan to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.'The Independence' could accommodate for 24 day or 12 sleeper passengers (in the main cabin). It had a luxurious State Room aft of the passenger door. Usually there was a crew of eight. It is featured here in its original tan, blue and metal livery. You will require Jens B. File Description:
NX90701 was the first production DC-6 and made its first flight on 10 July 1946. It was used by Douglas in the flight test and certification programme of the type before delivery to American Airlines on 20 April 1947 as NC90701. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. | Lockheed L749 Constellation Repaint Templates |

File Description:
This paintkit is a supplement for the FS2004 Lockheed L-749 project by Team 749 (Manfred Jahn & Co). For this paintkit you will require the Lockheed L-749 Constellation package (lockheed749.zip), containing the folders Lockheed_L749_0 (twin stack exhausts) and Lockheed_L749_1 ("jetstacks" exhausts). In designated folders you will find templates in 32 bit format (incl. Alpha Channel) which form a basis for making repaints of textures of four versions of the L-749 Constellation. The main differences between the textures are the two basic window arrangements and the two exhaust systems. The templates of the L-749's can be used to make repaints for the L-649, L-649A, L-749 and L-749A aircraft. The templates, based on the textures by Manfred Jahn, have been made by Maarten Brouwer. These templates have been tested in FS2004 (FS9) only.

KLM was a major European operator of various models of the Lockheed Constellation and Super Constellation. Out of 48 Connies and Super Connies, 11 were L-749 (8 of them later converted to L-749A) and 9 were L-749A Constellations. The first L-749 entered service with KLM in August 1947, and for some 13 years this and the other L-749(A) Connies served on various medium- and long-haul routes. By the end of the 1950's the career of KLM's (Super) Constellation started to come to an end with the arrival of the Douglas DC-7C and, introducing the airlines' jet-age, the DC-8. Featured are KLM's PH-TDB 'Batavia' (1948 livery), PH-TES 'Soerabaja' (1948 livery) and PH-TER 'Roermond' (1949 livery), both without and with "Speedpak" cargo pod. These are textures only. | Air Ceylon, Lockheed L-749A Constellation, 1956-1958 |

Air Ceylon was formed in 1947 by the government of the newly independent Republic of Ceylon (nowadays Sri Lanka). That same year three Lockheed L-749 Constellations were ordered for the connection Colombo-London. The order for the Connies lapsed and in 1949 Air Ceylon started a service operating Douglas DC-4s leased from Australian National Airways (ANA), who owned 49% of the shares (the other 51% were owned by the government of Ceylon). However, fierce competition from BOAC's DH-104 Comet 1 and TWA's L-749 Constellation forced Air Ceylon to close the London connection in 1953. In 1955 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines took over the shares from ANA. From 7 February 1956 till 1 November 1958 Air Ceylon leased KLM's L-749A Constellation PH-LDP for its new, weekly connection Colombo-(Bombay)-Karachi-Bahrain-Cairo-Rome-London-Amsterdam. For a limited period this route was extended from Colombo to Bangkok. PH-LDP was sprayed in a very pretty, exotic livery and received the name 'Mahadevi', its previous name having been 'Rotterdam'. In November 1958 PH-LDP was superseded by KLM's L-1049G Super Constellation PH-LKA/4R-ACH which also received a full Air Ceylon livery. On 3 November 1958 PH-LDP was written from use at Schiphol (Amsterdam) and has been scrapped sometime in 1962.
