KNILM Royal Netherlands Indies Airways Fokker F.XII

File Description:
This Fokker F.XII, the second one built, was ordered by KNILM (Royal Netherlands Indies Airways) and delivered early 1931 to the Dutch East Indies registered PK-AFH. Together with sistership PK-AFI the F.XII operated from its home base near the capital Batavia (since the independance of Indonesia called Jakarta) to various places within the former Dutch colony and abroad. On 8 March 1942 PK-AFH fell into Japanese hands following the occupation of the Dutch East Indies. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II'

File Description:
FS2004 Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II'. The Lockheed C-121A Constellation is the military transport version of the L-749A Constellation. Delivered on 22 November 1948, this particular aircraft was soon converted to VC-121A VIP-transport. From November 1952 till November 1954 this was the personal transport of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1952, President Eisenhower was flying to Florida. The Presidential plane was named 'Columbine II' (after the official flower of Colorado, the First Lady’s home state), but it was identified to flight controllers as “Air Force 610” (from its tail number 48-610). However, flying in the same general region was Eastern Airlines Flight 610. The Eastern Airlines pilot overheard a conversation between flight controllers and the President’s plane, and for a moment thought the references to flight “610” were meant for him. Although nothing untoward happened, the government realized that the confusion could have been tragic. Since then, any Air Force aircraft with the President on board has been referred to as “Air Force One.” Thus, the 'Columbine II' was the first aircraft to be distinguished with this designation, and she served President Eisenhower for several years in this role. This repaint is a much improved version of the one issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will function there as well. Lockheed L-749A Constellation TWA 1958

File Description:
FS2004 Lockheed L-749A Constellation TWA 1958. In June 1939 TWA (Transcontinental & Western Air) required a four-engined airliner capable of flying transcontinental US services non stop west to east or with one stop travelling in the opposite direction against the prevailing wind. The specification was drawn up by TWA's major shareholder Howard Hughes and TWA-director Jack Frye. The intial result was the L-49 Constellation, but before the first aircraft was built WWII broke out and the Connie was drafted by the militaries as C-69. After the war the C-69 was renamed L-049 Constellation and delivered to a.o. TWA (27). The L-649 and L-749 Constellations were the first true civil versions. TWA used 12 L-749's and 28 L-749A's from March 1948 till 1967. This particular L-749A, N6001C 'Star of New Jersey', flew with TWA from 24 March 1950 till September 1966. It was scrapped in 1968. This repaint is a much improved version of the one issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will function there as well. Camba Transportes Aereos Curtiss C-46F Commando

File Description:
FSX/FS2004 Camba Transportes Aereos Curtiss C-46F Commando. Originally designed an airliner (CW-20). The prototype first flew in March 1940 and was extensentively tested before being evaluated by the military, designated C-55. Following the involvement of the USA in World War II, all aircraft produced (3,181 incl. the prototype) were delivered to the USAAF. They particularly gained an impressive reputation flying across 'The Hump' (Himalayas) bringing supplies from India to China. Built a C-46F-1-CU (c/n 22428) at Buffalo, NY, this particular aircraft was delivered to the USAAF as 44-78605 on 16 July 1945. It was sold on 15 May 1946. In July 1996 Camba Transportes Aereos bought the C-46F registered CP-1319. WFU and stored at La Paz from December 2000. These are textures only. KLM Douglas DC-3 PK-ALW

File Description:
After the occupation of the Netherlands in May 1940 several KLM DC-3's got stuck in the Dutch East Indies. One of them was PH-ALW 'Wielewaal' ('Oriole'). Although the DC-3 was operated as PK-ALW by KNILM from 1 June 1940 on, she was still owned by KLM and as such flew the shortened "Indies-route" Batavia to Lydda (Palestine, by then under British mandate). On 7 March 1942 PK-ALW was the last civil aircraft to leave the Dutch East Indies when the Japan invaded the island archipel. From then on the aircraft continued its career in Australia, first as a military aircraft and after the war as an airliner, registered VH-INR. The DC-3 still exists (2007) as a static museumpiece of the Queensland Air Museum in Caloundra, Queensland. The repaint of PK-ALW is based on the templates Mark Beaumont created for the MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 (passenger version), which were based on Jan Visser's original textures. This repaint has not been tested for FSX but will probably function there as well. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

DDA Douglas C-54A-DC ZS-IPR

File Description:
FSX/FS2004 DDA Douglas C-54A-DC ZS-IPR. This aircraft was built a C-54A-5-DO Skymaster at Santa Monica, CA, for the USAAF. After WW2 struck off and converted to DC-4 standard. Having served various civil and military operators in the USA, Philippines, Thailand, Botswana, South Africa and Namibia from 1946 till 1981, the C-54A was bought by the South African Air Force on 23 April 1981 as 6906 in order to replace DC-4 6903. In 6906 was sold 1995 to Aero Air (Pty) Ltd. as ZS-IPR. Then bought in November 1996 by the Dutch Dakota Association for spares for its DC-4 PH-DDS. At that time it was the 3rd oldest airworthy C-54/DC-4. The white and blue 'livery' was only meant to ferry the aircraft safely over the troubled continent of Africa. It was kind of improvisation as at the moment the DDA people arrived in South Africa to collect the plane, it was still in the camouflage colours of South Africa which isn't very practical if you have to fly across warzones. On 4 June 1997 this 'bunch of spares flying in perfect formation' arrived at Schiphol, where it was stored and dismantled. Since PH-DDS returned to South Africa, the C-54A is on display from 2003 as NGAT's NL-316 at the Aviodrome, Lelystad. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. DC-4 / C-54 / Carvair sound.cfg

File Description:
In my search for sounds that would be (nearly) matching the real sounds of the Douglas C-54/DC-4 and the Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair (vehicle ferry conversion of the C-54 and DC-4), I struck on the DC-3 Sound Pack compiled by Des Braban several years ago. Although intended as a DC-3 sound set, it doesn't quite sound like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp C-series (aka R-1830) engines which powered the majority of the DC-3/C-47/C-53 aircraft. Instead it sounds much more like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp D-series (aka R-2000) engines which powered the C-54/DC-4 and, later on, the Pan American converted Hi-Per DC-3, the EC-47Q, the DHC-4 Caribou and ATL.98 Carvair. In order to make the sound set appropriate for the four engined C-54/DC-4/Carvair, I slightly altered the sound.cfg by just doubling the number of engines and copying some existing lines. Nothing else has been changed. All the wav files remained unaltered and no wav files have been added. The result, however, is a full sound which is very close to that of the real C-54/DC-4/Carvair. In order to get the proper sound, you will require Des Braban's DC-3 Sound Package (dc3sndpk.zip). Original sound.cfg by Des Braban; revised for Douglas DC-4/C-54 and Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair by Maarten Brouwer.

Douglas VC-118-DO 'The Independence'

File Description:
Built at Santa Monica, CA (c/n 42881/29) as the personal aircraft of President Harry S. Truman. It was named 'The Independence' after President Truman's home town in Missouri. The aircraft was delivered on 1 July 1947 and served from 4 July 1947 on as a presidential aircraft till 1953 when Gen. Dwight Eisenhower became President of the USA. It seems that the rather special paint job was based on an idea by President Truman himself. 46-0505 served on as a general VIP transport till 1966 when it was donated to the Smithonian Institute for preservation. It is on loan to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. 'The Independence' could accommodate for 24 day or 12 sleeper passengers (in the main cabin). It had a luxurious State Room aft of the passenger door. Usually there was a crew of eight. It is featured here in its original tan, blue and metal livery. You will require Jens B. Douglas VC-54C-1-DO 'Sacred Cow'

File Description:
Built a C-54A-5-DO Skymaster at Santa Monica, CA, for the USAAF (c/n 7470) and delivered on 26 January 1944. Converted to VC-54C-1-DO for personal use by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Irreverent journalists promptly named it 'Sacred Cow'. The VC-54C contained an electric elevator to lift the polio-struck Roosevelt and his wheelchair on board. The elevator was raised from the ground into the aircraft's belly for which purpose a hatch in the bottom of the fuselage could be opened. President Roosevelt made only a few flights with the 'Sacred Cow', the most famous journey being to and from the Yalta Conference with Stalin and Churchill in the Soviet Union. Following the death of Roosevelt, his successor Harry S. Truman continued using the 'Sacred Cow' till July 1947. Nowadays the aircraft is on display at the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, be it with a different serial number. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. KLM Douglas DC-6

File Description:
Having been an operator of the Douglas DC-2, DC-3, DC-4 and DC-5, it seemed only logical that KLM (celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2009) purchased the DC-6 for its long-haul routes. Seemed, because KLM already operated the Lockheed L-049 Constellation, the DC-6's competitor. Nevertheless, Connie and DC-6 marched on together quite well. Enclosed in this package are five repaints of DC-6's during several stages in their life with KLM. The 1957 livery of PH-DPP was an interim-livery (see the 'old fashioned' white lettering and the early-fifties style cowlings). The 1962 livery of PJ-DPI seems to have been an attempt to fit into the new house style of KLM without having to respray the fuselage, as the DC-6 reached the end of its KLM carreer anyway.
