| Braathens SAFE Douglas C-54A |

In 1946 and 1947 the newly established Norwegian airline Braathens South American & Far East Airtransport A.S. purchased for its medium- and long haul operations on charter basis four ex-USAAF Douglas C-54A Skymasters. Three of them had been converted to DC-4 standard by Texas Maintenance Company (Temco) at Fort Worth, Texas, and featured on the starboard side an enlarged emergency exit. The fourth C-54A was purchased from KLM. Around 1950 the Norwegian authorities concluded that Braathens' operations got increasingly a structural character, read: scheduled, operations and as such became a threat for Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) which was a conglomerate of "state" airlines of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. SAS received all concessions for the international scheduled routes, which meant the end of the use of the Temco converted C-54A's. These are textures only. You will need Jens B. In March 1946 the first of six brand new Douglas DC-4-1009's for South African Airways arrived and entered service, replacing the AVRO York on the "Springbok" route from Johannesburg to London. After the arrival of the Constellation the DC-4's continued on the domestic and regional services. In 1967 the five remaining DC-4's were passed on to the South African Air Force where they flew till the early 1990's. ZS-AUB was one of them. In December 1995 she was sold to South African Airways for use by the South African Historic Flight. She received the "orange tail" livery in 1998. This repaint is basically a modification of Jens B. Kristensen's original paint of SAA's DC-4 ZS-BMH, which is part of the FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (DC4_V30X.ZIP) package which you will need for these textures. Modification by Maarten Brouwer.

Air Links started its operations in 1959 from Gatwick, initially with one and from 1961 with two more DC-3 aircraft. In 1962 these were replaced by a single Handley Page Hermes, which became the last still in airline service. In 1964 the Hermes was replaced by several ex-BOAC Argonauts, acquired from Flying Enterprise, the Royal Rhodesian Air Force and East African Airways. They were mainly used for charters around Europe, as well as special trooping flights for the Ministry of Defense to Gibraltar, Hanover and the Middle and Far East. Already in 1965, after the company had been renamed Transglobe Airways and Bristol Britannias has been purchased, the Argonauts were written from use and scrapped or used for fire drills. These are textures only; you will require Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Canadair Argonaut and North Star V3.0 (argo_v30x.zip). Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

Initially they wore military serials, but soon civil registrations were allotted (PK-DSA, PK-DSB, PK-DSC and PK-DSD). Very soon they were chartered by the "reborn" KNILM Royal Netherlands Indies Airways for the weekly service between Batavia and Los Angeles. However, this service lasted only a very few months. By August 1947, when KNILM ceased to exist and was integrated into KLM, the C-54A's were taken over by KLM as PH-TSA through PH-TSD. Their career with KLM was shortlived, as they were sold to airlines elsewhere. Featured are the C-54A's PK-DSB with KNILM titles, PK-DSC with Netherlands Government Air Transport titles, and PK-DSD with NIGAT titles. These are textures only. They replace the textures released in 2013 which have turned out to be in the wrong colour, a problem if one only had a very few, bad quality b/w pictures as a source. You will need the FS2004 Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (DC4_V30.ZIP).

| KLM Lockheed C-60A Lodestar |

Throughout World War Two KLM operated in the Caribbean and South America with a number of Lockheed model 14 Super Electras, with two brand new Lockheed C-60A Lodestars added to its fleet when scheduled services to Miami began on 17 August 1943. On 30 July 1945 Douglas C-53's followed by C-47's began to replace the Lockheed Super Electras and Lodestars. On 1 August 1948 the Lodestars PJ-AKA and PJ-AKB were written from use at Willemstad-Hato. Exactly one year later they were disposed off into the Caribbean Sea. In those days "pollution" and "environmental protection" were almost certainly non-existant expressions.This repaint has been made for both the FS2004 and FSX versions of the Lockheed Lodestar by Milton Shupe & Team (lodestar.zip respectively fsxlodestar.zip). It features KLM Lodestar PJ-AKB. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

| Portuguese Air Force Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon |

Featured is Forca Aerea Portuguesa 4626, ex-US Navy BuNo 37406, Lockheed c/n 15-1272. The FAP operated 42 PV-2s and PV-2D's under MDAP (Mutual Defense Assistance Program) from 1952 on in Portugal and its colonies in Africa where they were serving in a variety of rules. The FAP went into Portugal's colonial war already before the first two regular battalions of the Portuguese Army were disembarked in Luanda, on 1 May 1961. Reaching back on three already obsolete PV-2 Harpoon liaison and patrol aircraft, equipped as make-shift bombers (and later formed into Esquadra 91), and P2V-5 Neptunes, the FAP flew a number of attack sorties against various rebel concentrations. Throughout the COIN war, which ended in 25 April 1974 by a coup d'etat in Portugal, the Harpoon played a significant role. The end of the war marked the end of the Harpoon era in Portugal. You will require Milton Shupe and Team's FS2004 or FSX Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon (harpfs9v13.zip resp. harpfsxv13.zip). Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

These textures represent the Grumman F7F-3P Tigercat BuNo 80457 of the US Marine Corps, Marine Photo Squadron VMP-354 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC, in 1949. You will require the Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat, which you'll find in Milton Shupe & Team's FS2004 Grumman F7F-1, -3, -3N Series (f7ffs9.zip) package. The original textures were made by Gordon "gman5250" Madison. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.
