| Sabena (Circa 1960) Douglas DC-6 |

The first European operator of the Douglas DC-6 was the Belgian airline Sabena. The first of five DC-6s, which was registered OO-AWA (see Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20x.zip)), was delivered on 15 July 1947. It was introduced on the Brussels-New York service in August 1947. Of course theDC-6s also operated on the Brussels-Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) route, the "lifeline" to the former Belgian colony Congo. From 1953 on they were joined by nine slightly larger DC-6Bs and one DC-6A. Except for OO-AWB which crashed in 1955, the "short" DC-6 had a remarkably long career with Sabena, incl. being leased to Air Congo. The last example was sold in 1965. Original textures by Jens B. Re-upload. FSX/FS2004 DDA Douglas DC-4-1009 ZS-NUR/PH-DDS. This aircraft originally flew with South African Airways from 1946 till 1966, and a short interlude from 1968 till 1970, as ZS-AUA 'Tafelberg'. From 1966 till 1995 the DC-4 flew as a transport and later an electronics warfare aircraft with the South African Air Force, called 'Spook'. Its registration was 6901. In 1995 the aircraft was sold to Aero Air (Pty) Ltd as ZS-NUR. In 1995 the Dutch Dakota Association (DDA) purchased the ZS-NUR, christened 'Skymaster'. The DC-4 arrived at Amsterdam-Schiphol on 5 May 1996. In 1997 she was re-registered PH-DDS. Due to the extremely tight regulations in the Netherlands, the DC-4 returned to South Africa in 2002 as ZS-AUA on long-term lease, first to Springbok Flying Safaris, later on to Rovos Air where she is still current (2008). | Martinair "Biafra" Douglas DC-6A |

File Description: On 13 December 1966 the Dutch charter company Martinair Holland (MAC), proud
owner of a fleet of four Douglas C-47, a Douglas C-54B, two Convair 640, and
four Douglas DC-7C aircraft, bought a Douglas DC-6A registered PH-MAM. The
DC-6A, which at one time belonged to KLM and could transport 11 tons payload or
97 passengers, was aquired in order to replace the smaller C-54B PH-MAE. It was
a very popular aircraft among crew and passengers alike. From the late October
1968 till the beginning of January 1970, PH-MAM flew on the Biafra airlift from
the island of Fernando Po to Uli airstrip to provide humanitarian aid, on behalf
of the Dutch Red Cross. Having returned from this mission, the aircraft was
overhauled and used by Martinair for one more year, before being sold to
Yugoslavia. The inspiration for this repaint was a coincidental meeting at
Schiphol I had many years ago with former Martinair Captain Dries van Ommen. He
was in command of PH-MAM during the Biafra airlift. We had a nice conversion,
accompanied by the impressive sight and sound of a DC-6 during take off. These

File Description:
This package contains two repaints for Jens B. Kristensen's Douglas DC-4 & C-54 V3.0. Featured is the C-54B (modified to DC-4 standard) G-ANYB in the colours of Air Charter Ltd London and of British United Airways. In January 1955 Freddie Laker's Air Charter aquired the C-54B-DC for transport work in Germany and trooping flights from Stansted to Cyprus. In 1959 the aircraft was moved from trooping flights to service on the route Southend to Calais flying passengers on one-day trips without a passport till 1 July 1960 when Air Charter was merged into British United. From 21 September 1960 till 3 October 1960 G-ANYB was used for a rigorous flying test programme before it was converted to the first Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair car-ferry aircraft. But for the cheap at heart (like me), here is a freeware offering with custom made modern terminal, funky tower, added free-standing gates to handle the AI traffic (artistic license invoked), and more. Transparent windows for interior decorating.My usual libraries required. Also highly recommended is Jean-Marie Guieau,s St Martin photoscenery upon which I built this, so buildings, runways, etc line up (see readme). See disclaimer also in readme.
