Boeing B-17G "Sentimental Journey" N9323Z Download

File Description:
This is a repaint only for the FSX Wings of Power II Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, in the markings of the CAF Arizona Wing's B-17G "Sentimental Journey," N9323Z. "Sentimental Journey" rolled off the Douglas assembly line in late 1944, and was accepted by the Army Air Corp on March 13, 1945. Being delivered too late to serve in the European theater, the aircraft was assigned to the Pacific theater for the duration of the war. The aircraft served in the USAF until 1959 when it was put into storage. Within a few months the aircraft was acquired by the Aero Union Corporation of Chico, California and flew thousands of sorties against forest fires as a converted tanker. In 1978 the aircraft was donated to the newly founded Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and after a local contest the aircraft was named "Sentimental Journey." The decision was made to use the most famous pinup picture of WWII for the nose art, which of course was that of Betty Grable's most tantalizing. Over the years the aircraft has been brought back to its WWII configuration, complete with all turrets, crew positions, bombay, and markings of the 457th Bomb Group. The aircraft makes on average each year an amazing 60 airshow stops nation wide.

VGEG Chittagong/Shah Amanat International, Bangladesh Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Googly scenery for VGEG Chittagong/Shah Amanat International (known as M A Hannan until 2005) - an important airport in Bangladesh that is poorly provided for in Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files add taxiways, aprons, buildings and other airport features, including the military area at the north end and the general aviation ramps, so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner. The city of Chittagong and its port are served regularly by jets ranging in size from the Fokker 28 to the Douglas DC10 from operators like Air Arabia, Air Asia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Oman Air, Thai Airways International, and turboprops of GMG Airlines, United Airways and Zoom Airways. The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. Based on high-detail satellite imagery from Google Earth, the layout is proportionally correct but the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look like the real thing. You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without. RAF Attlebridge - Norwich, Norfolk, England Download

File Description:
RAF Attlebridge is a former Royal Air Force station located near Attlebridge and 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Norwich, Norfolk, England. RAF Attlebridge was an early wartime station, laid out for use by No. 2 Group RAF light bombers, and was completed in August 1942. The airfield was used by No. 88 Squadron RAF from August 1941 to September 1942 using Bristol Blenheim IVs and Douglas Bostons. The Station had runways of 1,220, 1,120 and 1,080 yards length but, when the base was earmarked for USAAF use, these were extended and the airfield was enlarged to meet heavy bomber requirements. The main E-W runway was increased to 2,000 yards and the others to 1,400 yards each. The perimeter track was also extended and the number of hardstands was increased to fifty. In enlarging the airfield, several small, country roads were closed in the parish of Weston Longville, in which the larger part of the airfield was sited. RAF Attlebridge was assigned to the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Eighth Air Force's 2nd Bomb Wing on 30 September 1942. It was given USAAF designation Station 120.
Third party add-on scenery will be required - see readme for details.

Cessna 421 advanced physics Download

File Description:
C421C advanced physics Modification for the Alabeo C421 C Golden Eagle Version: tested for P3DV4; should work also with P3DV5 (and probably FSX) 1. Why I developed the advanced physics version I was asked via this forum, via PMs and also by e-mails to provide a modified version of the Alabeo C421C which can be used for serious multi-engine training. It should have accurate type specific performance for both AEO (all engine operative) and OEI (one engine inoperative), the latter for either a windmilling prop at various speeds and for a feathered engine. Feathering should work as realistic as possible. Thus, I developed an advanced physics version of the Alabeo C421C. It shows realistic physics for negative thrust (prop drives engine). This is necessary for OEI training and more realistic idle power simulation. 2. Modified files Modification includes “c421.air” and “aircraft.cfg” files. Data is based on real world Cessna 421C, N100L, 421C-0313. Aircraft data, equipment list, checklist and other documents for N100L, as well as some images of C421C, registration N100L, can be found here, too. Unfortunately, due to copyrights, I can’t upload the full files and can’t provide the AFM and other copyright protected documents. 3. How to install To update “c421.air”: - Copy the original Alabeo C421 to another aircraft folder, e.g. “C421C advanced physics”. - Use AirEd (freeware) and open the original “c421.air”. Open AirEd a second time and open “modifications advanced physics c421.air”. Copy the modified tables 511 and 512 to the original .air file (right click in modification file -> copy -> right click on original file -> replace from clipboard) To update “aircraft.cfg”: Just copy the modifications to the corresponding position in the original file. 4. Legend of modifications Modifications in aircraft.cfg: - Basic Empty Mass (actual mass for N100L 5,154 lbs inserted; most C421C are more heavy, ours is on diet) - correct basic data for engines + props - engine friction included (necessary for all negative thrust scenarios) - flaps lift + drag scalar adjusted (split flaps) - 2 vacuum pumps - VMO = 151 KIAS; VNE= 240 KIAS - cabin: max. differential pressure: 5.0 psi Modifications in c421.air: - implemented negative thrust scenarios in prop thrust and efficiency curves (tables 511 + 512); adjusted thrust curves for high TAS at high ALT 5. Side effects of modifications: - more realistic engine starting: starting the engine needs the throttle to be 2 cm above idle (see checklist) for the first 15 seconds - if you start the engine and don’t retard the prop to medium RPMs immediately, you will overstress engine and prop. So be careful when doing an air start, you might lose the prop and the aircraft. (In the real aircraft, these effects are less severe, but you have to avoid high RPMs until the engine is warmed up and have to avoid rapid change of RPM.) 6. Additional Notes: - Basic aircraft data as published by the manufacturer, like range and service ceilings, especially OEI, are based on MTOM. - The use of high payloads close to MTOM and higher ambient temperatures are making for a more challenging OEI training. - In the sim, climb power is too low compared to full power (about 65 % instead of 75 %). I have to find a way to adjust that. - I have buttons for engine failure under the mixture (see images) - Seat Position is, like in many Aircraft, higher than as per Default by the sim. For the C421C and me being 5 ft 7 in, that's about 7 clicks arrow up.

Gusev Crater Scenery Download

File Description:
Gusev Crater is an impact crater on Mars that looks as though a lake may have once filled it in the distant past. Gusev Crater is about 145 km (90 miles) wide. It is located at 14.6° South latitude and 175.3° East longitude, along the boundary between Mars' southern highlands and its lowland northern plains. The crater is about 3,000 km (1,900 miles) southeast of the volcano Elysium Mons. Scientists believe the Gusev Crater was formed by the impact of an asteroid three to four billion years ago. A valley named Ma'adim Vallis, which is connected to the south side of the crater, looks like it may have been a river channel that poured water into the crater in the past, forming a large lake. If the crater was indeed a lake, scientists expect it to contain layers of sediments as much as 915 meters (3,000 feet) thick that flowed in with the water. There may be other clues to a watery past within the crater, such as deposits of minerals, such as halite and gypsum, that form when water evaporates. Wet environments are the best places to look for life, which is why scientists are so eager to track down places on Mars that were once wet. On the 3rd of January 2004, MER-A Spirit, one of the two Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) had landed within an 81 km by 12 km (50 by 7 miles) oval near the center of Gusev Crater. Once settled into its new "home", Spirit will begin its mission of exploring for geologic evidence of the presence of water in Gusev Crater's past.

Flight Simulator First Officer V2 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Flight Simulator First Officer is a generic virtual copilot that can be used with any aircraft. The primary function of FSFO is to assist the Pilot In Command (PIC) to fly the aircraft safely while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This is accomplished via virtual checklist and sharing of cockpit duties/responsibilities. Specifically, the First Officer reads the following configurable checklist: - Pre-Flight - Before Start - After Start - Before Takeoff - In-Range - After Landing - Shutdown After reading the checklist item, the Copilot will wait to ensure you (i.e. the pilot) have configured the aircraft correctly before proceeding to the next item. Also, the Virtual copilot is capable of performing the following actions: 1. Call Vspeeds based on your input 2. Raise/Lower the Landing Gear on Takeoff/Landing 3. Retract the Flaps 4. Extend the Flaps 5. Manage the taxi/landing/strobe lights 6. Tune the ILS frequencies 7. Call Climb Power based on your input 8. Reset Vertical Speed when the Aircraft is within 1000 ft of the programmed altitude 9. IAS warning (e.g. Aircraft is above 250 IAS while below 10000 ft) 10. GS Warnings (e.g. Aircraft is above 25 knots while taxing) 11. Resets the altimeter to standards when passing TA 12. Engage Heading Hold on Takeoff 13. Engage Altitude Hold on Takeoff 14. Reset Speed on Takeoff 15. Engage Speed Hold on Takeoff 16. Engages Rev Thrust on Landing 17. Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) 18. Over Speed Warning 19. Stall Warning 20. Galena PAKP in Alaska Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Galena is a village on the Yukon River, around 30 miles east of the corner where the westward running river turns south. The population is just under 500 and the city is noted for its educational facilities that attract residential students from across the state. Adjacent to the city is the Galena Air Force Station that previously shared the use of the Edward G. Pitna Snr. airport until 2007, when the station was closed and the air force personnel left. The station facilities have been taken over by the community and the airport became the largest state-maintained airport in the interior of Alaska. Substantial resurfacing and finishing work was then carried out, and the new asphalt runway is now 6,000 feet long and aligned 7-25, with VASI at both ends and ILS on 25. There is a secondary gravel runway beside part of the main asphalt runway, and this is treated in radio announcements as if it is not a separate runway and landing or take off are on the adjacent asphalt. The airport is serviced by ERA (now called Ravn) and Wrights Air, with cargo flights by the eternal Everts. Included here is a small modification for Allakaket, which deletes a single remaining stock FS9 taxiway light. The AI included here also provided Allakaket with a Saturday Everts delivery flight, but I neglected to mention that before. A note here about my scenery making. There will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes, plus I expect to move on from FS9 at some point during next year.

Elim ELI and Moses Point MOS in Alaska Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Elim is a coastal village 90 miles east of Nome, living from fishing and with a population of around 330. The airfield has a gravel runway 3,000 feet long. The majority of flights to and from the airfield originate in Nome, but there are also others to and from nearby fields such as Golovin, Unalakleet, Shaktoolik, and Koyuk. A further 7 miles or so east of Elim is another field called Moses Point MOS, which is included here and was an Army Airforce field before being transferred to the private ownership of the Elim Native Corporation. Until Elim ELI was established (date unknown, but after 1988) this served the village of Elim and although the runway is now unlit and not in very good condition (translate that as "full of potholes") it is stated that the longer runway can still be used if Elim is not adequate. However, the note is undated and there are no details of how often it is used or even if it is actually still currently in use. There is one hangar still in existence; all the rest has been demolished and (mostly) removed. A note here about my scenery making. This is post number 502 and there will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes. There is a limit to what can be located online and I have already been making use of the little there is; eg Unalakleet. So, if you are near an airport (preferably Canadian or Alaskan) and have a camera..... Let me know.
