File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas DC-4 VH-EDM of Qantas Empire Airways. This aircraft was built new for Western Airlines and entered onto the United States Aircraft Register as NC10203 - April 1946
It was sold to Australian National Airways in 1947 and entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-ANG. The aircraft was named 'Palana' (star).
It was sold to British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines in 1948 and reregistered as VH-BPD and renamed 'Discovery'. It was sold to Qantas Empire Airways in 1949, reregistered VH-EBM and renamed 'Philippine Trader'. It operated the inaugural Sydney - Darwin - Labuan - Hong Kong service as EM202 in June 1949
It was chartered by T.E.A.L. to operate the Melbourne - Christchurch (Harwood) - Melbourne service - June 29, 1951.
The aircraft suffered major nose damage whilst landing at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on November 08, 1951, when the nose wheel collapsed during the landing roll, but it was repaired and returned to service.
It was sold to Zantop Air Transport Inc, Detroit, becoming N600Z in November 1959. It then went to Trans Mediterranean Airways of Lebanon in 1962 as OD-AEC. It crashed into the sea off Brindisi, Italy shortly after take-off on July 09, 1962, killing all six people on board. File Description:
A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5 Catalina in the colors of NZ4020 XX-W of the RNZAF. Bu08435, it flew with 6 Flying Boat Squadron. Following Japan's entry into the war in December 1941, the RNZAF had to switch from primarily training pilots to Europe into a combat force. No. 6 Squadron RNZAF was formed as an army co-operation unit at Milson in February 1942 flying Vickers Vildebeest and Hawker Hind aircraft. At the same time, No. 5 Squadron RNZAF moved to Fiji with Short Singapores and Vickers Vildebeest and Vincent biplanes. Modern maritime patrol flying boats (and more Hudson light bombers) were requested under Lend Lease and when the first Consolidated Catalinas arrived a detachment of men from No. 5 Squadron was assigned to convert to these types as No. 6 Squadron. Before the squadron was officially formed these men successfully completed their first air-sea rescue of a downed US aircrew. From May 1943 No. 6 squadron undertook action against the Japanese. The Squadron also conducted search and rescue missions for allied aircrew and seamen, and undertook many open sea rescues. XX-W arrived in Fiji on 21 October 1943. On February 18, 1944 it took off on a dumbo rescue mission to north Buka Island and landed to rescue two crew members and pick up a dead body from the crash of B-25, and successfully returned them to Halavo. On 26 May 1945, it stalled on landing at Hobsonville and was towed to its mooring by a crash boat. The induced damage resulted in the aircraft being written off charge on 18 June 1945.

| Savoia Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero, SERVICE PACK 1 (v.02) |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
It was the most important Italian bomber of World War II, this tough three-engined aircraft established a reputation that contrasted with most Italian weapons of the day, and it was flown with courage and skill. SM.79s served widely in the normal bombing role, but it is as a land-based torpedo bomber that the type deserves its place in military aviation history, being regarded by many as one of the finest torpedo bombers of the war. In spite of its cumbersome appearance and outdated construction, with an internal provision for 2,750 lb (1,250 kg) of bombs, supplemented by under fuselage rack for a torpedo, the S.M.79 was a rugged, reliable multi-role medium bomber which did quite a bit of damage in the face of heavy opposition. About 1,300 production models were built over a nine year period. The SM.79 had a distinctive 'hump' on the upper forward fuselage, which housed both the fixed forward-firing heavy machine-gun and the dorsal gunner's position. Its appearance earned the aircraft the nickname 'Gobbo Maledetto' ('Damned Hunchback'). During the last phases of the war the surviving SM.79s were converted into various versions of utility transports and used in that role until 1952.
This "Service Pack" contains:
-4 UPGRADED + 1 NEW Hi-Res GMax models (5 different versions) feature the usual moving parts, such as all flight controls, props pitch and leading edge flaps.
-Eleven (11) different liveries (6 R.A., 1 A.N.R., 1 I.C.A.F., 1 Post-war A.M.I., 2 Spanish Nationalist Air Force).
-Revised SM.79M CFG & AIR files, New SM.79Bis CFG & AIR files
-Revised Sounds, Gauges & Effects
VC only. This plane was developed for FS9, but it works (it seems without problems) either in FSX. Created by Manuele Villa & ItalianWings, February 2008. Installation instructions included.

| C-17 Globemaster III/ER |

Images related to this file:
File Description:
The C-17 Globemaster III/ER is a heavy cargo aircraft used by several foreign militaries, but primarily the U.S. Air Force. She is designed to do many things that other cargo aircraft cannot, based on her unique design. This version incorporates the extended range fuel tanks. The real world aircraft can actually use reverse thrust in flight, up to 100% reverse power, during descents or on the ground. It is also the only heavy aircraft in the world with a wing efficiency factor over 1.0, which is theoretically impossible, but true. All of the dynamics in this model are correct down to the inch, so she does almost everything the real aircraft does. Some things are not possible in FSX, including reverse thrust while in flight, but full flaps/slats employed in a steep descent will adequately simulate this effect without damage to the model while in flight. The landing gear are authentic and capable of heavy loads. The weight and balance is authentic. The fuel tanks are authentic. The aircraft name, tail number, location, and callsign are authentic. The calculated range(s) listed are all authentic, understanding that most public data released is based on average range, at average altitude, and normal payload missions. The sound is authentic. The engine dynamics are authentic. The panel used is the best I could find, is fairly authentic, and requires some pre-flight study before flight. All-in-All the aircraft is very simple to fly, but requires some study to operate correctly, so I recommend all simmers watch as many "You Tube" videos, read as many authentic sites, and study as much as possible about this aircraft before operation. | B25 Mitchell Bomber |
|
File Description:
B25 Mitchell for X-Plane 6.40-6.6 Made famous by the Doolittle raid on Tokyo shortly after Pearl Harbour the B25 Mitchell bomber is the most famous medium bomber of WWII and perhaps of all time. The B25 was the most numerous twin engine aircraft built by the US during WWII; estimates of production vary from 9300 to 11000 built. On April 18, 1942 Doolittle led sixteen B-25 aircraft from the navy carrier, U.S.S. Hornet to bomb Japan in retaliation for that country's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Although little damage was done and all planes were lost the raid proved to be one of the most famous missions of the war. The B25 was powered by a pair of 1,700 hp Wright R-2600-29 "Cyclone" 14 cylinder, air-cooled engines. Maximum speed was 272 mph at 15,000 ft, with a ceiling of 24,000 ft and a range of 1350 miles with a full load of bombs. Armament varied considerably in the B25 depending on the type of mission the plane was designed for. Heavenly Body is a B25J designed as a bomber, so it carried eleven 0.50 caliber machine guns; two in the top turret, two in the tail, one in the nose, two in cheek packs on each side under the pilot and one in each waste window. The top, nose and cheek pack guns could also be used in strafing, if so desired. This version carried 3,000 lbs of bombs (usually six 500 pounders) in an interior bomb bay. The X-Plane version is a fairly faithful rendition of the B25. The body consists of two sections consisting of the fuselage and a fuel tank. The main engine nacelles actually consist of two nacelles, one is the 1700 HP engine, the rear section is a 5 lb thrust rocket. Engine nacelles are also used for the two rudders in order to get the correct shape. Vertical stabilizers with rudders are buried within the nacelles. Decoration of the plane is complicated by the use of multiple nacelles but the resulting compromise is acceptable though not an authentic replica.
