The Station opened in 1942 before closing in 1946, it hosted No. 431 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force as part of 4 Group RAF Bomber Command which formed at the airfield on 13 November 1942 flying Vickers Wellington Mark X aircraft while at Burn. On 15 July 1943 the squadron was transferred to RAF Tholthorpe and became part of No. 6 Group RCAF. On 1 January 1944 No. 658 Squadron RAF moved to the airfield from RAF Clifton flying the Taylorcraft Auster III but left only seven days moving to RAF Doncaster but on 21 January 1944 the squadron returned, this time staying until 14 March 1944 when they moved to RAF Collyweston. The squadron was briefly joined on 31 December 1943 by 659 Squadron which moved to RAF Clifton the following day. During its use the airfield was also used by No. 10 Aircrew Holding Unit RAF. On 6 January 1944 No. 578 Squadron RAF squadron was relocated to RAF Burn from RAF Snaith. This Bomber Command squadron flew Handley Page Halifax Mk. III before disbanding on 15 April 1945 and the station was closed for flying operations in July 1945. On the night of 30 March 1944, Pilot Officer Cyril Joe Barton took off from RAF Burn in Halifax LK797 for a raid on Nuremberg, and won a posthumous Victoria Cross for valour. Shortly after flying was discontinued, the Royal Army Service Corps took over some facilities to store surplus equipment. ] Many of the buildings have been dismantled but all three runways remain intact and are used by Burn Gliding Club Ltd.

Havana 1962 Scenery Download

File Description:
This scenery includes Havana as it was in 1962 (a mysterious city of much fascination for me) including El Morro Fortress on its rocky outcropping at the entrance to Havana harbor, the largest such fortress in the Caribbean, and its adjacent lighthouse. In downtown Havana you will see the capital building and several old cathedrals. Near the Malicon sea walk by the beach, you will find 3 famous hotels and former casinos, the Flamingo, the Riviera, and the Havana Hilton. The Havana Hilton opened just days before Castro seized power and nationalized it. When he first came to power he occupied the top floor for some time. Havana Airport opened originally as Rancho Los Boyeos Airport, located just southwest from the city in the village of the same name, which was then mostly farms, small ranches, and tiny communities. The original terminal was a very pretty Spanish colonial building, which the dictator Fulgencio Batista had remodeled in a 1950's cubist-tudor style. It was at the time of this remodeling (1957) that the airport's name was changed to Jose Marti International Airport, named after the famous Cuban revolutionary and poet of the 19th century. Jose Marti Airport was in the 1950s and 1960s the primary port of entry airport for Cuba. Up until the January 1st 1959 revolution many US airlines served Havana, but due to mounting tensions, the crisis of the Bay of Pigs attack, and later on the October 1962 missile crisis, traffic and tourism was ended as the US led blockade of Cuba took hold. By the time of this scenery, April 1962, the once former bustling Jose Marti airport had become quite sedate.

Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, operating as Tigerair Australia, is an Australian low-cost airline. It commenced services in the Australian domestic airline market on 23 November 2007 as Tiger Airways Australia. It is a subsidiary of Tiger Airways Holdings, a Singapore-based company, which is owned partially by Singapore Airlines. The airline is based in Melbourne, Victoria, with its main base at Melbourne Airport. After the 2011 CASA grounding, the airline has shut down its bases at Adelaide and Avalon and initially only operated out of its Melbourne base since returning to the air. On 7 March 2012, Tiger Airways announced that it will reopen a second base at Sydney Airport. On 4 September 2012 Tiger Announced they were resuming flights from Melbourne to Adelaide, beginning from 1 November 2012. On 18 December 2012 Tiger began direct return flights from Mackay to Melbourne and Mackay to Sydney. On 22 October 2012 CASA announced they were issuing a new safety certificate and lifting all restrictions placed on Tiger Airways Australia, as they were now satisfied they were no longer needed.

Tigerair's livery is painted on Project Airbus's Airbus A320-232 aircraft (included). The textures are saved in 32bit format for quality graphics. Textures are also characterized by HD (High Definition). Douglas C-47 (N65276) Frontier Airlines Download

This folder contains a repaint for version 3.14 of the Douglas C-47 by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of Frontier Airlines N65276, one of the C-47/DC-3's operated by Frontier Airlines. On April 21, 1957, at 1321 hours, N65276, operating as Frontier Airlines flight 7 departed Prescott, Arizona enroute to Phoenix under visual flight rules (VFR) with 21 passengers and one stewardess. As the flight proceeded southbound toward Phoenix the weather deteriorated to a point where the flight could no longer remain clear of clouds and maintain VFR. Captain Welling requested and received an instrument flight rules (IFR) clearance to proceed to Phoenix via Knob intersection thence to the Phoenix omni range, maintain 7000 feet. The crew never acknowledged receiving the clearance. It is suspected that the reason there was no response is that this was the precise moment that flight 7 struck the west ridge of a mountain at the 4500’ level southeast of Prescott shearing off twelve feet of the left wing and six feet of the left aileron. After declaring an emergency, flight 7 landed safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport without further incident. There was no injury to the passengers or crew. The wing was replaced and the aircraft continued flying for Frontier. Sadly, N65276 was lost in a tragic accident in 1967 on a snowy Denver day when a rudder-lock had been placed on an elevator and not removed prior to take-off. Both pilots were killed in the crash. Iles de la Madeleine CYGR in Quebec Canada Download

File Description:
The Iles de la Madeleine are a group of spit islands linked by bridges in the Gulf of St Lawrence. They are east of New Brunswick, north of Cape Breton Island, west of the Island of Newfoundland, and south of the mainland coast of Quebec. On a southwest to northeast axis they are 40 miles in length and the airport CYGR is pretty much at the midpoint of the southern line of islands. Take a look at the overhead from FS9 to see what I mean. CYGR has two runways, one is aligned 08-26 and is just under 4,400 feet long and 150 feet wide with lighting and PAPI at both ends. The second is aligned 16-34 and is 3,600 feet long and 150 feet wide, without lights or PAPI. Both are asphalt. The apron is not huge, and a newish (in 2010) hangar was built with separate access to the 16-34 runway. There are daily flights by Air Canada and Pascan Aviation included in the AI. The AI also includes some boats and a ferry, and I first used these with my Dutch Harbor scenery, so if you have that already.... This scenery also includes Cindy Hook, a small boat harbour just 2 miles southwest of the airport, and the larger harbour at Cap aux Meules a further 3 miles away that accommodates the daily ferry trips, along with fishing boats etc. Also included here is a further addition to the Homer PAHO scenery in the shape of a boat that is included in the Homer Spit harbour. Just add the contents of the scenery folder to the Homer scenery folder of your Homer installation, and the texture folder contents to the Homer texture folder. B25 Mitchell Bomber Download

B25 Mitchell for X-Plane 6.40-6.6 Made famous by the Doolittle raid on Tokyo shortly after Pearl Harbour the B25 Mitchell bomber is the most famous medium bomber of WWII and perhaps of all time. The B25 was the most numerous twin engine aircraft built by the US during WWII; estimates of production vary from 9300 to 11000 built. On April 18, 1942 Doolittle led sixteen B-25 aircraft from the navy carrier, U.S.S. Hornet to bomb Japan in retaliation for that country's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Although little damage was done and all planes were lost the raid proved to be one of the most famous missions of the war. The B25 was powered by a pair of 1,700 hp Wright R-2600-29 "Cyclone" 14 cylinder, air-cooled engines. Maximum speed was 272 mph at 15,000 ft, with a ceiling of 24,000 ft and a range of 1350 miles with a full load of bombs. Armament varied considerably in the B25 depending on the type of mission the plane was designed for. Heavenly Body is a B25J designed as a bomber, so it carried eleven 0.50 caliber machine guns; two in the top turret, two in the tail, one in the nose, two in cheek packs on each side under the pilot and one in each waste window. The top, nose and cheek pack guns could also be used in strafing, if so desired. This version carried 3,000 lbs of bombs (usually six 500 pounders) in an interior bomb bay. The X-Plane version is a fairly faithful rendition of the B25. The body consists of two sections consisting of the fuselage and a fuel tank. The main engine nacelles actually consist of two nacelles, one is the 1700 HP engine, the rear section is a 5 lb thrust rocket. Engine nacelles are also used for the two rudders in order to get the correct shape. Vertical stabilizers with rudders are buried within the nacelles. Decoration of the plane is complicated by the use of multiple nacelles but the resulting compromise is acceptable though not an authentic replica.

XP11 German Scenery EDHK 2018+ Kiel-Holtenau Download

File Description:
The small Zip-file will include a link for scenery download, because the scenery file size is above 500 Mbyte. Just follow the link and download EDHK 2018. This is an "install and fly" version, everything you need is already included (*see info below) and I will continously update the scenery. The story, in November 2012 the German MFG5 (Marineflieger-Geschwader) was relocated to Nordholz (ETMN). This was the end of the main military use in the southern and eastern part of the airport. Because the German harbor city Kiel needs living space for their citizens, opponents of the airport tried to convince citizens and politics to close the airport and to create there living space instead. In 2018 the citizen of Kiel voted with a citizen’s decision with the result that the majority voted for the preservation of the traditional airport. Personally, I am very happy with this decision. On the area of the airport some companies are settled, their employees should be able to sleep a little better now. In addition, there will certainly be future investments in the airport due to the election results. Since the airport has been financially in the red for years, the operator of the airport, the Port of Kiel Flughafen GmbH & Co. KG has converted large areas of the airport as parking area. These parked vehicles are part of the constantly increasing cruise ship operations within Kiel, making it possible for passengers to safely park their vehicles for extended periods of time. The taxiways “A” and “D” of EDHK are no longer in operation. This was of course taken into account in my scenery. The access to this taxiway was marked as in the original by yellow "X". The taxiway lighting was also turned off there. The on-site Luftsportverein (LSV) uses above the runway 08/26 an individually marked grass runway (not official), I called it 08S/26S and it is for the winch launch of their gliders only. The size of this provisional winch runway is about 820x20m. A glider takeoff by towing aircraft is usually handled by the Runway 08/26.(*) There is no copyright infringement, since I have received all the needed permissions to use the listed objects/libraries full or in parts within my scenery, the same for the single objects or non-Library bound objects/elements. I got all these permissions in writing from each individual author/rights holder. Take the time and read the full, included descritpion, please. If you have question, ask me first!
