| Helmericks 22AK on the North Slope, Alaska |

Helmericks is on the northern coast of Alaska, 150 miles east of Barrow and 50 miles west of Prudhoe Bay. It is on the shore of Colville Island in the delta of the Colville River, and hasn't changed much from when Harmon Helmericks set up house there in the late 1950's. He lived there with his wife and two sons guiding hunting trips and running a fishing operation, and then in 1966 he was involved in the first north slope exploratory oil well drilling operation by Sinclair Oil, which was to lead to the opening up of the north slope in the 1970's. Read "The last of the Bush Pilots" if you want to know more about it. The dirt runway is around 2,400 feet long (long enough for the Wien DC3 to get in with supplies) and the house is still there along with storage sheds. To the southwest are the other houses (three of them) which make up the rest of Colville Village. If you want to have the frozen lakes and river and sea then look for my recent post which will freeze them until you get bored and want to put your floats back on.

| Talkeetna Village AK44 in Alaska, REVISED |

File Description:
The town of Talkeetna is around 75 miles north of Anchorage in Alaska, on the east shore of the Susitna River where the Susitna, Talkeetna, and Chulitna rivers join. The town is where Don Sheldon started Talkeetna Air Services. His story is told in "Wager With The Wind" by James Greinar and is well worth reading for the descriptions of mountain flying. There are two airfields at Talkeetna, PATK with its long asphalt runway and Talkeetna Village AK44 in the town. This is AK44; measuring the space left for the runway between the river bank in the south and the curve in the road that marks the north end of the field there is just enough space for the 900 feet of runway that is described in the book. The result is a step back in time to 1973, when the second hangar was built. Neither hangar has survived to today.

LIPL Ghedi Italian Air Force Base. Ghedi "Tenente Luigi Olivari" (LIPL) is a military airbase, near Brescia, in the north of Italy, home of the 6th Stormo "Alfredo Fusco" (Tornado IDS). The airport layout is not realistic; many solutions are completely fruit of author's fantasy; hangars and other buildings positions aren't realistic; hangars and buildings, and other objects are from Rwy12 group. Grass runway with 0.5m/pixel high-definition background images, surroundings with areal photo textures and landclass, full seasonal textures. Several custom buildings, fences, objects and tons of trees give the closest possible resemblance to it's real-world counterpart northeast of Stuttgart Airport (EDDS).
This airfield is jointly utilized and cared for by the two departments of the Aero-Club Esslingen, the full-scale glider fliers and the RC-model fraction.
