Cache Creek CAZ5 in British Columbia Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Cache Creek is a small village of around 1,000 folks on the eastern side of the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, around 70 miles northeast of Pemberton and 40 miles west of Kamloops. The village is in a valley bottom and recently suffered from severe flooding due to the overflow of the river. The airfield is high above the town, with a runway aligned 15-33 and 3,280 feet of asphalt, without runway or taxiway lighting; hence "airfield" as opposed to "airport". I have posted it as Cache Creek CAZ5, but I suggest that you revise the name to perhaps "BC airfields" and just load my future airfield posts into the same scenery and texture folders to avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Plus that way you will have just one FS9 library post to do and new airfields will not need yet another posting. Up to you. If you find a defect, email me.

Chilanko Lodge CBX3 in British Columbia Canada version 2 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a revised post of Chilanko Lodge, which is an airstrip that serves the Lodge of the same name on the beach of One Eye Lake. The lake is close to the eastern side of the Coastal Range, 30 miles south of Nimpo Lake and 30 miles west of Puntzi Mountain, both previous posts. There is also a dock for float planes. The runway is 2,900 feet of gravel aligned 10-28, unlit, and at 2,972 feet above sea level. I remade this scenery as I was not very satisfied with the surrounding terrain, and then there was a reported terrain level problem. It is now better than the first time around, in my opinion anyway. I have posted it as version 2 of Chilanko Lodge CBX3, but I suggest that you add this to your "BC airfields" folder as previously suggested. Up to you. If you find a defect, email me.

Port Hardy CYZT in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Port Hardy airport is on the coast of Vancouver Island in BC, at the far northern end and 5 miles east of the town. The town and the airport are both gateways to local touristic attractions such as Cape Scott Provincial Park, the North Coast and BC Marine Trails, and kayaking, caving, surfing, fishing, camping, and scuba diving (and I discovered just how big orca are). Fishing, logging, and mining have been important and to an extent still are for the town population of just over 4,000. The airport, along with the ferries, connects Port Hardy to the rest of the west coast with Pacific Coastal Saab 340 or Beechcraft 1900C flights to and from Vancouver at least twice a day. There are also Grumman Goose amphibious flights to local float bases such as Port McNeill, Alert Bay, Whaletown, Surge Narrows, Echo Bay, and Minstrel Island. These are all included in the AI and previously posted. There are three runways: 11-29 of 5,000 feet with ILS on 11 and righthand circuits on 29, 07-25 of 4,000 feet with righthand circuits on 25, and 16-34 with a much shortened 3,500 feet on 34 due to a displaced threshold. There is a control tower but it is not manned 24 hours a day; a "mandatory frequency" (MF for short and a Canadian invention) is used by the tower when it is manned, and when there is no tower response the aircraft continues to announce intentions and position. Something I have been meaning to explain to those who query it, is that in real life as well as in FS9 helicopters at a mixed use airport or airfield will act as if they are planes and join downwind, turn on base and then finals, "land" along the runway and then use the taxiway to the parking. This means all aircraft are doing the same thing and an orderly queue avoids collisions. This is one of a series connected in some way with Pacific Coastal airline destinations, the first being Bella Coola. There is AI available for Pacific Coastal online.

Gang Ranch CAY2 in British Columbia Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Gang Ranch is on the eastern side of the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, around 50 miles west of Green Lake and 5 miles west of the Fraser River that runs north-south at that latitude (51 degrees 30 minutes north, in round figures). The airfield is among some farm fields and difficult to spot (this will depend on your personal textures and settings) and the ranch buildings are scattered and a mile or two away, the nearest being the owner's house. The runway is gravel, only 1,800 feet long and aligned 08-26 at 2,150 feet above sea level. There is no lighting. I have posted it as Gang Ranch CAY2, but I suggest that you just add it to your previously created "BC airfields" (if you did that) and avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Plus that way you will have just one FS9 library post to do and new airfields will not need yet another posting. Up to you. If you find a defect, email me.

Terrace CYXT in British Columbia, Canada - REVISED Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This version includes the correct Piper Cub texture, unreported by all but one downloader (why?).

Terrace is fifteen miles east and inland from Prince Rupert, which is 500 miles north of Vancouver up the BC coast. It is at the point in the mountains where two fjords meet, one coming from Prince Rupert and the other from Kitimat. The airport is a couple of miles south of the town and on the south side of the Skeene River. There are two runways, and the main one is a recently-extended 7,500 feet long and lighted 33/15. The second is 5,373 feet of unlit 03/21. The apron has been enlarged to be able to accommodate a Boeing 737 so I have parked an Air Canada jet there, but the pics show the planes that do fly to Terrace, and these are Air Canada and Hawk Air Dash 8-300's. The original aircraft and the textures are down-loadable and and can be used for AI.

Minstrel Island CAX7 float base in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is the third in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC. Minstrel Island is on the south side of Knight Inlet and 25 miles west of Knight Inlet Lodge (the previous post in this series). There is a resort on the island, though it is hidden from the air by the trees. Fuel and oil are both available at the dock, and there is a 17 feet tidal range, which would be interesting of it could be replicated in FS. The AI is an adaptation of that for CF36 and involves a GA Cessna, and a Seair Beaver flying from Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge via Minstrel Island. Again, because of large hills the landing of the AI may or may not take place, depending on wind direction and whether or not they fly into solid rock before landing. Take off and departure will take place. Ultimate Terrain Alaska/Canada would be a definite plus to get the water in the right shape and place. This scenery will not work without it.

Tongass Remote Airfield (RATR) - for "Tongass Fjords" (FS9) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
"Tongass Remote Airfield" (RATR) Alaskan scenery (Fictitious) Tongass Remote Airfield is for Flight Simulator 2004 and for the "Tongass Fjords" (FS9) addon by Holger Sandmann & Bill Womack . You must have "Tongass Fjords" (FS9) for this to work. Field history and description: In the early days this area was well known to prospectors and hunters. A small mine was established and later abandoned. Around the late 40¢s a crew was contracted to clear a small landing area to gain easier access for hunters and campers. Due to the extreme remoteness of this area that clearing took several years. The last phase was the approach, clearing by hand a descending glide slope through just the tops of the tall trees. There is now just enough room for a very experienced pilot to get in and out of this field. The airfield is 26 miles north of Petersburg Alaska (PAPG). This is a tricky narrow approach with a left hand dogleg and then an immediate right hand dogleg turn just before the final approach. Not much time to set up your approach, also, it's a very short runway. For experienced pilots only, and make sure that your life insurance is up to date. See enclosed Maps and info. Good luck.

Dawson Creek CYDQ in British Columbia, Canada UPDATED Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a revised version of Dawson Creek CYDQ and the floats base CBD3, made primarily to provide one of the parked planes with it's textures but also to improve the apron markings and the AI. The float AI now includes Beavers and I also removed two planes that were not properly showing their textures in my current FS9 installation. The Beavers were included in my post of Nimpo Lake CAF8 and will need to be installed to show up here. This version is complete in itself and can be installed as-is if you do not have the original scenery. Dawson Creek is at 2,148 feet asl just east of the Rocky Mountains, less than 10 miles west of the BC/Alberta border and where the Rockies are at their narrowest. The population grew when the Northern Alberta Railway was extended to Dawsons Creek in 1932, and grew even more more when the Alaska Highway was built in 1942, starting from Dawsons Creek. In the 1950's the town was linked through the Rockies by a railway and a road to the BC interior, and the town grew again. Now it is static at just under 12,000 and once again has become a farming centre, with Fort St John and Grand Prairie winning out for new industry and commerce. The airport is just to the east of the town. The runway is 5,000 feet of wide asphalt (150 feet) aligned 06/24, lit, and with PAPI and approach lights. There is also a water runway for float planes, separately designated as Dawson Creek CBD3. The two effectively operate as one; traffic for both use the mandatory frequency of 122.2 and talk to one controller in one control tower. However, in FS9 the ATC for two separately designated airfields (or float fields) operates as if they are nowhere near each other and takes no notice of near misses between the two lots of planes. As a result I have put them both in un-manned tower mode so you will announce your position and intentions and select your own parking spots, either next to one of the hangars or on the grass. The aprons vary from asphalt, to concrete, onwards to gravel, and then further onwards to some gravel amid the bare dirt; I have replicated this variation as far as FS9 permits.

Tsuniah Lake Lodge CAF4 in British Columbia Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Tsuniah Lake Lodge is an airstrip that serves the Lodge of the same name at the western end of the lake. Tsuniah Lake is close to the eastern side of Chilko Lake, some 7 miles south of the northern end of Chilko Lake and the recent post of Tsylos Lodge. Tsuniah Lodge is at the eastern and lake end of the grass runway, which is 4,000 feet of grass aligned 04-22 and in good condition at 4,026 feet ASL. No lights. The lodge is extensive with numerous separate cabins and I would expect the prices to be up there with the cost of the chartered planes that delivered guests. There is a second airstrip included here, around 3 miles north of the northern end of Chilko Lake and which used to serve the Wilderness Ranch before it was closed. The runway closed I mean. It is still visible but now not used at all although the ranch still functions. I have posted this as Tsuniah Lake Lodge CAF4, but I suggest that you add this to your "BC airfields" folder as previously suggested. Up to you. If you find a defect, email me.

Chilko Lake CAG3 & Scum Lake CAW3 in British Columbia Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Chilko Lake and Scum Lake are both on the eastern side of the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Chilko Lake CAG3 is around 30 miles south of Puntzi Mountain and at the northern end of the lake, serving Tsylos Park Lodge, which caters for trekking, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing etc. The runway is 3,200 feet of gravel aligned 18-36 and unlit, at 3,850 feet ASL (above sea level). Scum Lake is around 30 miles southeast of Puntzi Mountain and 25 miles northeast of Chilko Lake. Don't ask me about the name. The airstrip appears to serve a small village and is noted as "private", so perhaps also a lodge operation. The runway is 3,500 feet of gravel aligned 03-21, unlit and at 3,921 feet ASL. I have posted these as a separate scenery, but I suggest that you just add it to your previously created "BC airfields" and avoid the inevitable doubling up of common textures etc. Plus that way you will have just one FS9 library post to do and new airfields will not need yet another posting. Up to you. If you find a defect, email me.
