CYVQ - Norman Wells - Northwest Territories, Canada Download

Norman Wells is the last of a series of airfields that are along (or close to) the Mackenzie River and in the Northwest Territories. It is 290 miles southeast of Inuvik and just 40 miles northwest of Tulita. The town growth was accelerated by the discovery of oil in the 1930's and the building of a small refinery in 1937, which is included here; there are now around 840 folks living in the town. The airport is adjacent to the town and has just under 6,000 feet of asphalt runway. North Wright Airways is headquartered there and this is reflected in the AI, which is for all of the newly-posted Mackenzie River postings. There is also helicopter AI, Canadian North, First Air, and there are GA flights. There is a mandatory frequency and the Norman Wells tower is manned 24 hours a day so you will follow atc instructions. In real life the terminal is on two levels; this steep change in terrain level is not possible to achieve in FS9 so although I made it as a two level terminal (ready for the FSX version?) it is here modified into a single level building. There are several "taxiways" which lead to the runway but are without hold short markings. These have been shown but are not included as AI routes. The helicopters presumably hover-taxi to the runway across grass (and snow) in real life; the AI helicopter will taxi on wheels. Note that at mixed-use airports planes and helicopters all follow the same rules of procedure.

Toronto Downtown Airport CYTZ Ontario, Canada Download

CYTZ is on an island in Lake Ontario and immediately adjacent to downtown Toronto. This updates the version made by Flight Ontario as there have been major changes since Porter Airlines purchased the airport. The obvious and main new item is the terminal, made with photo textures and with ten gates sized to accomodate the Dash 8-400 they currently use. The terminal has a passenger entrance and a vehicle setdown point as part of the link to the ferry terminal that wraps around the west side of the original and preserved terminal building. The ferry terminal is included here, along with a ferry. Also new are the car parking, road routing, gate and taxi markings, taxiways, taxiway signage, taxiway lighting, runway lighting, aprons, apron lighting (from Sid Schwartz and you will need to install his "lights_ss_v2"), fences, fuel tanks, tanker trucks, access roads to navigation equipment, ai parking, static parked planes, parked cars, apron equipment, and the useable floatplane ramp. The AI includes Porter, Jazz, several GA aircraft, and a helicopter. Only 3 of these require downloads. The Lake Ontario AI includes three large ships, typical of the traffic to be seen on all the Great Lakes. CYTZ has three runways and there is an airport diagram included. 08-26 has ILS and is the only runway actually long enough to be used by Porter; FS9 atc will ignore this. There is fuel available and it is dispensed from a truck. The longer projection from the front of the terminal building is a covered ramp that leads up from the terminal basement level, used by towed luggage trolleys. The gates are not powered in any way except for the weather cover that protects passengers as they cross the small area of asphalt between plane and gate. I did not try to reproduce this in FS9.

PAEN, PAEX, 3AK4, 30AK, 52AK - Alaska, USA Download

The town of Kenai is on the east coast of Cook Inlet, 60 miles southwest of Anchorage. The airport is in the northern part of the town, with a runway aligned 1-19, 7,550 feet long and 150 feet wide (with an ILS on 19). A second runway is gravel, 2,000 feet long and for winter use by ski planes. There is also a water runway, and all three are aligned the same and called "1 left-19 right" (the main runway) "1 right-19 left" (gravel) and "1 water-19 water". The taxiways are extensive and designed for a far larger traffic than the airport has today, though even now the airport is fairly busy. In FS9 a water runway for AI cannot work with an ATC control tower; the water part of PAEN has therefore been separated into another call sign PAEX which has ONLY the water runway; the tower will therefore direct the plane that makes contact to use the water runway. The PAEN airport runway has taxiway connections at each end and also two intermediates; at the northern end there are in fact two so a total of 5; B, C, D, E, and F; there is an airport diagram included. GA traffic goes to one of two parking aprons, both at the southern end, and at the far southern end there is the hangar for the Civil Air Patrol. The AI includes aircraft from my previous Alaska posts, as Kenai is where I sent them when they departed from, for instance, Palmer. Airlines and cargo companies that operate from and to Kenai are included in the AI: ERA (which has recently changed it's name), Grant Aviation, Air North, Wings of Alaska, North Star Air, and a small local company Air Supply Alaska, along with Fedex, UPS, Everts, and Northern Air Cargo. There is also GA and float AI. Nearby smaller airfields are included, partly because one of them was dramatically misaligned in FS9.

Active Approach - PHNL (Honolulu Intl Honolulu, Hawaii) Download

File Description:
As most know the Approach and Final (VMC) for AI Traffic in FS9 is a straight in type landing and does not always consider high terrain at airports. This is do to the way that the coding is written in FS9 and it puts limits on IFR arriving aircraft. If you open runways at certain airports the AI Traffic will fly directly through a mountain once it is established on Final for a runway. What you will see with my file is a different type approach used for the way I control AI Traffic in FS9. No longer do the AI Planes use a straight in approach when landing to the west at PHNL. My new AI Aircraft Approach coding for FS9 now uses a base leg approach so AI Traffic does not fly through the mountains. The Honolulu Control Tower will clear all AI Traffic (IFR FP) landing either on 26L and 26R as a straight in landing even though the offset to final is 30 degrees from the runway center line. The Control Tower will instruct the AI Planes landing on either 22L or 22R to fly a left base leg which is greater then a 45 degree offset and then the AI Planes will turn on a short 1.5 mile final. The left base approach to 22L and 22R runways is a 65 degree offset from the runway center line. My testing shows excellent behavior of the FS9 default models, PAI models and the Aardvark planes of all sizes to execute this new type of visual approach that I am now writting code for which supersedes the FS9 default straight in ATC hard code approach. PS Panels 737NG Download

File Description:
Built completely from scratch, the PS Panels 737NG incorperates a high level of realism whilst still allowing the virtual pilot to use important FS features such as the flight planner and ATC systems. Authentic NG EHSI The PS Panels 737NG incorporates a high definition EHSI display including all the modes as per the real aircraft. Approach, VOR, Map and Plan modes are all modelled (APP, VOR and Map in both Expanded and Standard modes). The authentic and fully animated EHSI control panel allows the virtual pilot to set the display to his preference. The PS Panels 737NG interfaces completely with the FS Flight Planner, you're flight plan will be automatically displayed in both the Plan and Map modes. Extensive Overhead The PS Panels 737NG incorporates a custom overhead panel to control the many modelled aircraft systems. Based on the real NG Overhead panel with a slightly altered layout that allows the virtual pilot to continue to monitor his key instruments whilst managing the Fuel, Electrical, Hydraulic, Lighting and Pnuematic systems controlled through the panel. Careful attention combined with detailed research has allowed us to model these systems to a high degree of accuracy. Complete Radio Stack The panel comes with an authentic 737NG radio stack, accurate down to the last details. IRS System The PS Panels 737NG models the operation of the aircrafts IRS. Unless proper alignment is completed through the IRS panel, many features of the aircraft's displays will be INOP. Custom Throttle Panel The panel comes with a custom throttle panel accurate to that on the real aircraft. Advanced 2-stage Night Lighting A first for PS Panels, the 737NG contains two stage night lighting allowing the virtual pilot to choose between two levels of cockpit lighting on the fly. Dawson Creek CYDQ in British Columbia, Canada Download

Dawson Creek is at 2,148 feet asl just east of the Rocky Mountains, less than 10 miles west of the BC/Alberta border. The Peace River, 25 miles north of Dawson Creek, links the two sides of the Rockies, winding through peaks that reach up almost to 8,000 feet. The population grew when the Northern Alberta Railway was extended to Dawsons Creek in 1932, and grew even more more when the Alaska Highway was built in 1942 and Dawsons Creek was where it started from. The airport is just to the east of the town. The runway is 5,000 feet of wide asphalt (150 feet) aligned 06/24, lit, and with PAPI and approach lights. There is a water runway to the north of the main runway with the same alignment, separately designated as Dawson Creek CBD3. The two operate as one; traffic for both use the mandatory frequency of 122.2 and talk to one controller in one control tower. However, in FS9 the ATC for two separately designated airfields operates as if they are nowhere near each other and near misses are the result. I have put them both in un-manned tower mode so you will announce your position and intentions and select your own parking spots etc. There is in reality a lack of apron markings but I have marked the positions of both gates. The apron is not large so there is only one other apron parking spot (see the traffic cone) and most parking is either next to one of the hangars or on the grass. The aprons vary from asphalt, to concrete, onwards to gravel, and then further onwards to some gravel amid the bare dirt; I have replicated this variation as far as FS9 permits. The buildings are bespoke from photos. The AI includes Central Mountain Air with two daily scheduled flights and Northern Cariboo as one of the airlines that occasionally runs charter flights in CYDQ. There are also private GA flights, and float plane flights into and out of CBD3.

This is a revised version of Dawson Creek CYDQ and the floats base CBD3, made primarily to provide one of the parked planes with it's textures but also to improve the apron markings and the AI. The float AI now includes Beavers and I also removed two planes that were not properly showing their textures in my current FS9 installation. The Beavers were included in my post of Nimpo Lake CAF8 and will need to be installed to show up here. This version is complete in itself and can be installed as-is if you do not have the original scenery. Chicoutimi / St-Honore CYRC in Quebec Canada Download

File Description:
This is the third of five sceneries around Lac Saint-Jean in Quebec, Canada. Saint-Honore is a village on a crossroads 32 miles east of the lake, and the airport, called Chicoutimi in the Nav Canada Flight Supplement, is a mile or so east of the village. It is of the familiar triangular military design with three runways 12-30, 06-24, and 18-36. Of these, the longest is 12-30 at over 6,000 feet and has approach lighting and glide slope indicators. Of the other two 06-24 is now closed, but this scenery is based on the 2010 situation with all three open. There are two apron areas, one just to the south of 12-30 and a second to the northwest of 06-24 and served by a separate taxiway. The largest operator is a training establishment based on the northern apron and with a sizeable fleet of Beechcraft trainers (Skipper) that does not exist as an FS9 plane, so these are represented by a similar stand-in substitute. There is also a helicopter emergency evacuation operation to the east of the large control tower, and other hangars. The south apron has two main companies, Max Aviation and Exact Air, both of which run local regular scheduled flights in the area (though both appear to have now subcontracted these out to other companies) and also engage in training and charter flights. There is also a parachute training company. The ai includes flights by the companies on the field and also GA. The list of AI planes is explained in the AI folder, with details of downloads etc. The fleet of training aircraft is one of the planes in the revised (by Nick Tselepides) Piper Aircraft, designed for AI Traffic by Andras Neumann with a Paintkit by Charles Dayhuff adapted by Graham Eccleston, and Paints by Graham Eccleston, Andras Neuman and Frank Cooper along with the trainer repaint by Nick Tselepides. The Max and Exact aircraft textures are approximations by me; apologies. The use of the runways also as taxiways complicates the AI on runway 12-30 as directed by ATC. The AI will always leave 12-30 by the earliest exit, which means that the fleet of trainers will exit to the southern apron but will then taxi back onto the runway to reach taxiway A or runway 36 (according to wind direction) to proceed to the northern apron. In real life they land long and then taxi straight to the end of the runway to reach taxiway A or runway 36 without using the south apron at all. There is no way to correct this so just be ready to go around.

Cyprus: Airfields plus landmarks and land class for all of Cyprus and AI Download

Cyprus, an island in the eastern Mediterranean. Without the benefit of Ultimate Terrain, which does not exist for Cyprus, the land class provided by FS9 stands out as hopelessly inadequate. I have added the extensive farmland and the larger towns and villages, plus the major roads. Four completely new airfields are included here, three in the north and one in the south. Ercan LCEN is in the north and functions as the airport for all of the north. It was recently closed for two years while a new terminal was built and the runway updated and an apron extended etc, and during that time Gecitkale LCGK functioned (barely) as the airport for the north. Gecitkale is now hardly used at all. The third northern airfield is Ilker Karter LCIK and this functions as the HQ base of the Turkish Army Corp in northern Cyprus. The last of the new airfields is Kingsfield LCRE, which is in the Sovereign Base area to the east of Larnaca and is now used for recreational purposes. Ercan is now undergoing further expansion with a new runway and a new terminal building and apron, so this scenery is for the period between 2010 to 2015. My set up of Cyprus already included a payware Larnaca by Aerosoft (now only 12 euros) plus a freeware Paphos, Nicosia, and Akrotiri; that was my starting point. Larnaca has been the major airport for Cyprus since the mid 1970's, with a huge tourist trade that peaks in the summer but which is year long (almost a million Brits visit every year, let alone the other nationalities). I have adapted this (gate sizes etc) to allow parking by a multitude of B737's and others. Nicosia is freeware (posted in 2010) and I have included modifications to reflect its now total disuse. Paphos is at the far western end of the island and freeware, and I have modified this to allow larger and military ai aircraft to function properly; the poster improved his first version to better cater for ai but I was unaware of this and I have stayed with my modifications. Akrotiri is freeware and includes a lot of library object input from MAIW. I have modified the parking somewhat and added further residential areas and munitions storage. The AI is based upon recorded take offs and landings in April, with some further additions in later months. At Ercan the visible gate numbers on the apron are as per real life, but the numbers within FS9 reflect the fact that planes are directed to gates at the centre of the terminal building and not at the far ends. Follow the pink line and obey ATC when it says taxi to gate number 2 even if it is visibly numbered 4.
