| PANC / ANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Alaska - Version 6.0 |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This is a major rebuild of Ted Stevens International airport. All terminals have been heavily upgraded from the default form. Terminals A & B have been resized and relocated to be more accurately placed. Terminal C, the newest terminal, has been rebuilt from scratch, and the cargo ramps received special treatment as well. As usual, there is plenty of eye candy placed around the airport including plenty of static general aviation aircraft. The included AFCAD has been extensively reworked, and all gates are laid out per the ANC website and sat photos.
Update: Version 6 contains various changes to the scenery which make it more accurate. There are jetway updates, afcad changes, and various structure changes. Airline parking assignments have also been updated as well as a missing taxiway. The connecting walkway between the international terminal and terminal C has been added. The cargo ramps near terminal C have been expanded and made more accurate to real life. The jetways on terminal A have been removed, and the jetways on Terminal C have also been modified for accuracy.

| YWWI - Woodie Woodie Manganese Mine, Western Australia |
|
File Description:
YWWI Woodie Woodie Manganese Mine - Pilbara Manganese, a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Minerals (Consmin), operates the Woodie Woodie mine, which produces high-grade manganese ore of superior quality. The ore is sold to the international steel industry. Production in 2010 was 1,238,000t @ 46.2% Mn, with a capacity of 2.5mtpa of high grade lump and fines. The high-grade lump produced by the mine is an ideal blending material with high manganese and is very low in phosphorus. Furthermore, the lump is hard, has very low degradation and high thermal stability. The mine has a 100.5km2 mining corridor and approximately 5,500km2 of greenfield areas outside this corridor. Multiple open pits are in operation and owner mining of ore is used to promote selectivity and to minimise dilution. The mine also employs contract mining of waste to promote efficient bulk mining practices. The mineral processing techniques include crushing, screening and heavy media separation. Woodie Woodie has a new camp and an all-weather air-strip constructed in 2009, suitable for large aircrafts. Ore is trucked to Port Hedland for shipment. Consmin has committed in excess of A$34 million to exploration in 2011, with the intention to explore more than 60 corridor targets and more than 130 regional targets from nine prospect areas. www.consminerals.com.au/m/files/fs/woodie-woodie-fact-sheet.pdf REQUIRES Blencowe_LibraryKit.zip

| B25-B Mitchell Doolittle's Raiders A/C No. 40-2268 for The B24 Guy's OH |
|
File Description:
B25-B Mitchell Doolittle's Raiders A/C No. 40-2268, April 18, 1942. Painted over The B24 Guy's B25 Mitchell Overhaul Model. This was mission plane #16. Pilot: Lt. William G. Farrow, Co-pilot: Lt. Robert Hite, Navigator: Lt. George Barr, Bombardier: Sgt. Harold Spatz, Engineer/Gunner: Cpl. Jacob DeShazer. The bomb group attacked targets in the Tokyo area. The North American B-25B was not designed or intended for aircraft carrier use, but there they were, sixteen highly modified bombers sitting on the deck of the USS Hornet (CV-8). They were modified to carry bombs to Tokyo. The B-25s are launched from their maximum range, and flew over Tokyo, bombing several installations. The bombs did little damage, but managed to damage the Japanese carrier Ryuho while it is in drydock. Many of the planes then head to wherever they can make it, since the fuel will be empty before they reach a friendly airbase. All of the B-25 bombers are forced to bail out or crash land except one. Eleven crews are forced to bail out over China, 3 crash land, and the last landed safely at Vladivostok. The crew that landed in Russia was interned, along with the plane, for a while. The crews were all volunteer, and had no carrier experience, yet all sixteen of the bombers were successful on take-off. Texture, and Damage Files included. Note the three windows in both port and starboard bulkheads.By revev. Enjoy!

| RAF Upper Heyford EGUA 1955-1962 |
|
File Description:
EGUA RAF Upper Heyford 1955-1962
The airfield was originally built in 1918 by the Royal Air Force on land owned by New College Oxford, closed briefly after the end of the First World War and then re-opened in the 1920s. During the Second World War it was used by units of RAF Bomber Command but these were training rather than operational forces, even if aircraft of the 16th OTU (Operational Training Unit) may sometimes have taken part in bombing operations against the Third Reich. New runways were laid in 1942. During the Cold War Upper Heyford was chosen as one of the airfields used to operate bomber aircraft belonging to the US Strategic Air Command, and in 1950 the main runway was extended while new hardstandings were constructed for the bombers concerned. However, units were not stationed there permanently, but did Temporary Duty Assignments from their bases in the US. They included the 93rd Bomb Wing, 97th Air Refueling Squadron, 509th Air Refueling Squadron, 301st Bomb Wing, 8th Air Sea Rescue Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing, 5th Bomb Wing Detachment, and the 22nd Bomb Wing. Aircraft included the B-50 Superfortress, (briefly) the B-36 Peacemaker, the B-47 and from 1960 the B-52. There were further significant developments after 1962 which fall outside the remit of this scenery, Upper Heyford being finally returned to the British Ministry of Defence in 1994 after the end of the Cold War.
