This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang, in the colors of #44-14111 PE-X "StrawBoss 2", which was flown by Col. James D Mayden of the 328 Fighter Squadron/352nd FG. Born in 1912, Mayden graduated from Kansas State College in 1935. He did his primary and advanced training in Randolph/Kelly Texas and went on to fly P-26's, P-36's, P-39's along with P-40's stateside before flying P-51's overseas.
His first kill occured on November 2nd 1944, and by the end of the war, he had 2 air victories to go with 4 ground kills. Both confirmed air kills were ME-109's. Mayden's wartime decorations included an Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Croix De Guerre. He also commanded the 352nd FG from July 1944 to September 1945.
The Colonel's first P-51, a B model was named "StrawBoss", a nickname said to be given to him by his dad. After a gear-up landing accident, StrawBoss was replaced with a fresh P-51D. While the left side of the new mount wore "StrawBoss 2", the right side was painted "Little Sandra", named after crew chief S/Sgt Hubert Robling's daughter.

Teslin is a village on the Alaska Highway around 85 miles east of Whitehorse, on the banks of the very long Teslin Lake and where there is a sizeable bridge across an offshoot of the lake. The Hudson Bay trading company established a post there in 1903. The current population is a rather meagre 120 or so and the only reason I am making this scenery is that I know one of the 120. This scenery, in addition to the terrain, village, bridge, and airport items also modifies the Alaska Highway. The AI includes a school excursion trip on a chartered Air North Hawker Siddeley 748 on Saturday. There are no scheduled flights to the field. The runway is now around 5,600 feet of gravel aligned 08-26 and with VASI at both ends. It is lit with runway lighting on the tops of traffic cones, and you will need to download the lighting library from my earlier postings of either Allakaket Lights or Anaktuvuk Lights earlier this week. A note here about my scenery making. There will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes, plus I expect to move on from FS9 at some point during next year.

This is my last scenery post; read the text note in the zip. This greatly modifies my previous (2009) post of Geraldton, and has more purpose-made buildings. The new version is stand-alone and does not require you to have previously installed Geraldton; it interacts with Dryden and Sioux Lookout for AI flights. Geraldton is in northern Ontario, 70 miles northeast of Thunder Bay and 50 miles east of Lake Nipigon. The town is on the northern shore of Kenogamisis Lake and strung out northwards to the east-west railway line. The population is around 2,400 and the origins are in mining. The airport is a further 3 miles or so north, just south of Hutchison Lake. CYGQ has just over 5,000' of asphalt aligned 08-26; I think there used to be a second runway in a similar arrangement to the one at Dryden, but that was long ago. At the eastern end of the runway there are hangars that turn their back on an irregularly-shaped and seemingly unplanned apron; this is because it was unplanned. There was a large addition made so that fire fighting CL 415 planes could be parked there in the summer, adjacent to tanks containing foam and chemical additivies. The AI (available with my Sioux Lookout and Dryden posts) includes CL 415 flights.

| KPHX - Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport |

File Description:
This is an AFCAD2 for the default Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. My most accurate AFCAD yet. I was able to use the jetway shadows and others objects on the default land mass to accurately place each gate in the exact real life position they were when the photograph was taken. I utilized other satellite images and many photos from airliners.net to help verify exact gate and airline locations. Only difference here unfortuantely is there are no jetways, only jetway shadows. Maybe someone can make some jetways for this KPHX? 99.9% of all gates at the real airport are present in this AFCAD, and properly numbered. I've also included the cargo and military ramp, America West and Southwest maintenance parking, as well as added a few GA gates for you civil flyers. This AFCAD is roughly as of March 2005, so parts of Taxiway Echo near Terminal 4-D are closed and under construction in the AFCAD. I've closed 8/26 for takeoffs and used it with 7R/25L for landings. 7L/25R will be used as the primary takeoff runway. I think that covers everything. If you have time, select the Top-Down view in your sim, and you can see all the jetways from the land mass lined up with each aircraft. Kinda cool, enjoy! :) If there are any errors, let me know. | P-51D 357th FG/ 362nd FS G4-E "Missouri Armada" |

P-51D Mustang 44-14789 "Missouri Armada" flown by Capt. John "Johnny" B. England.John Brooke England was born in 1923 at Caruthersville, Missouri. His service number was O-739263 and he joined the 362nd FS of the 357th FG in April 1943 as a 1/Lt meaning that he was part of the original cadre that left the ZI in November 1943 for the UK. He was promoted to Captain and then to Major. He took command of the 362nd FS on 25 August 1944. He served two tours with the 357th FG for a total of 108 operational missions giving a total of 460 hours combat flying time. He was the second highest scorer in the 357th with a total of 17.5 victories. England finished his second tour and rotated home on 26 January 1945. He remained in the service after the war and was killed in an F-86 crash in November 1954 in France. Alexandria Air Force base in Louisiana was renamed England Air Force Base in his honor. The aircraft was later assigned to Lt. Oscar Ridley, who renamed it "Sad Sack". The a/c was lost on 18 april 1945, with Lt Ridley evading capture. Tongass Remote Airfield is for Flight Simulator 2004 and for the "Tongass Fjords" (FS9) addon by Holger Sandmann & Bill Womack . You must have "Tongass Fjords" (FS9) for this to work.
Field history and description:
In the early days this area was well known to prospectors and hunters. A small mine was established and later abandoned. Around the late 40���¢��������s a crew was contracted to clear a small landing area to gain easier access for hunters and campers. Due to the extreme remoteness of this area that clearing took several years. The last phase was the approach, clearing by hand a descending glide slope through just the tops of the tall trees. There is now just enough room for a very experienced pilot to get in and out of this field. The airfield is 26 miles north of Petersburg Alaska (PAPG). This is a tricky narrow approach with a left hand dogleg and then an immediate right hand dogleg turn just before the final approach. Not much time to set up your approach, also, it's a very short runway. For experienced pilots only, and make sure that your life insurance is up to date. See enclosed Maps and info. Good luck.
