Riddle Airlines C-46 1959 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the C-46 in Riddle Airlines 1959 colors. The freeware C-46 by Libardo Guzman and Tom Gibson is needed for this repaint. Riddle Airlines was a a non scheduled carrier, which mainly focused on cargo flights, but passenger flights were also offered. It was founded in 1945 by John P. Riddle, who flew contract flights between Miami and Brazil during WW2. The airline was based at Miami. In late summer 1945, passenger and freight services were inaugurated between New York City and Puerto Rico. It expaned it's network to all of the Americas and the Carribean in the following years. Due to financial difficulties faced by most cargo carriers in ther 1950s, Riddle also accepted both civilian and military contracts and strengthened its fleet whenever possible. However, Riddle continued to face deep financial troubles, and in June 1962 all services were suspended. This crisis led to a reorganization of the airline in July 1962 under an entirely new management team, and the airline was back in the air thereafter. On November 29 of that year, Riddle was renamed Airlift International. This Riddle C-46, N74178, flew with the airline from 1960 to 1963. This repaint was tested on FSX-SE. Textures are 32bit bmp. It should work on FSX, P3D v1-3, & FS2004.

The Vermont Air National Guard was organized on 1 July 1946 at Burlington Municipal Airport and was federally recognized as the 134th Fighter Squadron on 14 August 1946 making it the fifth US ANG unit so formed and recognized. Since that time the VT ANG has flown eight different aircraft types in its primary mission and several more in support of it. The primary mission aircraft flown include the P-47D-40, P-51D-25, F-94B, F-89J, F-102A, EB-57B, F-4D, F-16A and the current F-16C. The mission support aircraft flown include the L-5, AT-6C, AT-11, C-47B, T-33A, C-45H (?), C-54G, C-131D, C-12F and C-26A. The VT ANG has a small air museum near the main gate to their base at Burlington International Airport which currently includes a T-33A, F-94B, F-89J, F-102A, F-4D, C-47B, C-45H and C-131D. My virtual VT ANG Air Museum Collection for FS9 is an attempt by an old 134th FS veteran to duplicate and expand upon the actual VT ANG Air Museum. This second download package, vamc2.zip, includes my VT ANG repaints of the AT-6G Texan by Cliff Presley, the P-51D Mustang by Andrew Wai and the P-47D Thunderbolt by Krzysztof Malinowski/Greg Pierson/Tom Kohler.

Kindley Field Bermuda 1955-1962 Download

File Description:
Kindley Field, on the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, was built as a joint RAF/USAAF facility during the Second World War. Subsequently the RAF area became the civilian terminal while Kindley Air Force Base was operated by the USAF between 1948 and 1970. It was primarily a staging post between the US and Western Europe for land-based planes unable to cross the Atlantic non-stop, very like Ernest Harmon in Newfoundland and the civilian Gander, and like Harmon it closed when the jet age made such bases redundant. Prior to that it hosted no combat units, but the 59th and then 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadrons, the 'Hurricane Hunters', were based there, and also from 1 February 1956 to 15 June 1963 the 303rd ARS Stratotankers were present to support Strategic Air Command and other refueling requirements. After 1970 it became a US Navy facility primarily concerned with tracking Soviet submarines, and was closed at the end of the Cold War. This scenery represents Kindley between 1955 and 1962 and has custom made scenery by Dan French and ai military traffic by Al Von Pingel to add to the downloadable California Classic civilian and MATS traffic available at Tom Gibson's site. Like Harmon and Gander, it was one of the most important airfields of its time.

Aerial Transit DC-6A / C-118A Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Textures for Tom Gibson's Douglas DC-6A - repainted by Manfred Meyer. You need to download and install the latest Douglas DC-6A CB-16 base pack with model(use the model with Propspinners), sound and panel from the website calclassic.com.

These textures depict N96BL (c/n 43574) of Aerial Transit. Harold Bellomy and Charles Lawson founded 1963 the Bellomy & Lawson Company in Miami FL, buying DC-6 aircrafts an convert them to pure freighters. They run Challenge Air Transport and sold this airline 1982. Then they started 1983 a part 121 operation under the trading name "Aerial Transit" and ceased operations in 1991. The DC-6 aircrafts of aerial Transit, flying throughout the Caribbean and Central America and were often leased out to other operators of the region. N96BL was built 1952 as C-118A and delivered to the USAF as 51-3827. In 1976 bought by Bellomy & Lawson and registered as N3492F the aircraft served with Challenge AT and re-registered as N96BL from october 1983 until 1991 with Aerial Transit. Aerial Transits DC-6 always looking a little bit shabby and when flying this aircraft, keep in mind it has no pressurisation and no superchargers. So if you are forced to go above 10 000 ft take some oxygen bottles with you!

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress #43-97976 "A Bit o' Lace" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the accu-sim version of the A2A B-17G Flying Fortress. It represents #42-97976 "A Bit o' Lace", which was assigned to the 709th BS /447th BG. The nose art consisted of a cartoon by Milton Caniff. The co-pilot was Lt. John Bauman, a fraternity brother of Milton Caniff. He sent Caniff a detailed idea of the proposed artwork and the sketch was returned with Caniff's annotation: "A Bit-O-Lace for Lt. John H. Bauman, and the rest of the gang, with my best wishes - Milton Caniff NY, Oct. 1944". Nicholas Fingelly, an artist attached to the 709th BS, carried out the work and completed the painting in about six hours and gave Milton Caniff full credit for his his character. Her first crew flew 35 missions over Europe with no injuries, although returning with a good many holes, at times. The closest call was when a piece of shrapnel came up through Navigator's table and "Ike" Eisenhart's arms, but missed him. A surprise souvenir for Ike, which he still has. She flew more missions with different crews, until the april 4, 1945 flight. From the navigator, John Kirkwood: "Right over Kiel, and seconds before the bomb release, I heard the co-pilot say that "This airplane feels funny." Seconds later the tail gunner, who had regained his power of speech, blurted out something to the effect that part of "The tail was gone." A flak shell had gone right through the left horizontal tail, leaving only a partial surface, and completely removing the left elevator. We dropped out of the formation, and tried to drop the bombs, but the electrical system failed. We flew north a minute or so, the plane now in the hands of the pilot. The pilot did not want to drop over Denmark, so we turned out over sea, and dropped via screwdriver. Actually, we were over Schleswig-Holstein, according to my position, but it was close, and Tom did not want to chance killing danes. We flew on, at a reduced speed, far out to sea on a west-south-west course with occasional ETA's to the pilot. Several fighters joined us, and finally we got back to the base, and the runway was cleared for us. A decision had to be made by the pilot: To jump or ride her in.. Tom decided that he could land the plane, so we all congregated to the radio room, and that was that. I might add that none of us had any desire to jump. Most of the photos of 976 were taken after repairs, hence the dark colored rudder and left elevator. As you know, the color prior to the damage was silver. 976 flew one or two missions after that, but I never saw her again, other than in a color photo of the moth-balled fleet in Arizona." Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the repaint kit by A2A.
