Guernsey Airlines Viscount 735 G-BFYZ Download

File Description:
In April 1978 Alidair bought the three Viscounts from Iraqi Airlines. One had been damaged beyond repair in a landing accident a few years before and was a spares source and the other two flew to Castle Donnington to be prepared for service. One went to Alidair Scotland as G-BFMW while this machine became G-BFYZ with the newly formed Guernsey Airlines. Taking up UK marks on 1st December 1978 it was leased to Guernsey Airlines on the 6th of the same month. the airline was up and running for the summer season or 1979. Wearing the name "Sarnia" the aircraft served throughout the Alidair network, with its Guernsey services often being operated by Alidair machines. This was not to be a long career as on October 25 1979 while landing at Kirwall the number four propeller struck the ground causing it to veer off the runway and the undercarriage to collapse. It was replaced by G-BDRC. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

Rubys Raiders Boeing B-17G Download

File Description:
This is a repaint (textures only) for the Donationware B-17G Late from FighterTown Design Group. You can get it here for a great price!! www.donationware.net Thank you FDG for providing this great plane!! Special thanks go to Jarink, who is a repainter in IL-2/PF. Jarink was kind enough to send me his layered photoshop files of the Noseart that I used for these repaints. I also used his repaints as a guide for my repaints. This texture represents "Ruby's Raiders" one of the B-17G Flying Fortresses of the 385th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. The B-17G started seeing action with the 385th in November, 1943 and continued until the end of the war. The Checkerboard group markings on the tail were adopted in February, 1945. "Ruby's Raiders" was named after Cpl Ruby Newell, a WAAC serving in the UK. She was the winner of a WAAC beauty contest and her likeness was painted on the plane by Cpl Ploss of the 385th. Assigned to the 550th Squadron. This aircraft returned to the USA.

Bleriot XI Britannia Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Bleriot XI by Wings42 in the colors of Bleriot XI-2 Britannia. The third Bleriot XI imported into New Zealand, it was a two seater presented by the Imperial Air Fleet committee to the New Zealand government. The committee's aim was to promote the development of aviation in the British empire, and the presentation was intended to stimulate military aviation in New Zealand. The aircraft was a proven one, having been flown 347km non-stop from Dover to Cologne by Gustav Hamel in 4 hours 18 minutes on April 17, 1913. The aircraft was dubbed "Britannia' at a ceremony at Hendon on May 22, and Hamel then took former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir Joseph Ward for a short flight. The committee was composed primarily of London businessmen and Sir Joseph was the deputy-Chairman. The aircraft was paid for by public subscription and was valued for insurance purposes at 1400 pounds. The aircraft was disassembled and shipped to New Zealand aboard the Athenic. The aircraft arrived in Wellington on September 29, 1913, where it was discovered that the propeller was not in the shipment. This was soon shipped to New Zealand. In the meantime the aircraft was stored in a purpose built shed at the Buckle street Defence stores. In late 1913 Joseph 'Joe' Hammond had been appointed official Government pilot. Mr Hammond suggested flying the aircraft to Auckland for display at an Exhibition. However the aircraft was railed north and was assembled in Auckland on January 14, 1914. On January 17, 1914 Mr Hammond made his first flight in the aircraft from the Epsom showgrounds. The following day he completed an hour long flight over Auckland at low level. A flight on the 19th with a journalist as passenger was aborted during takeoff when Hammond found he had no rudder control. Repairs were made and the aircraft flown again on January 24th. Another flight with a passenger then took place. Rather than a member of the media or any of the officials present Hammond chose to take Miss Esme McLalland as passenger. Miss McLalland was a member of the touring Royal Pantomime Company which was performing in Auckland, and the choice failed to impress the officials - Joe Hammonds employment as official pilot was terminated. The aircraft remained on static display for the remainder of the Exhibition and was returned to Wellington at the end of April 1914. Without a pilot (there were several Army Officers training in England - 2nd Lt. A. Piper and 2nd Lt. W. Burn) any official role for the aircraft (and officials did not seem to know what to do with it), it was placed in storage at the Mt Cook barracks in Wellington. Soon after, a report by General Hamilton, the Imperial Inspector of Overseas Forces discouraged further aviation development. With the outbreak of war an offer was made to send the aircraft with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. It was shipped back to England, departing on the Arawa on October 16. It was unloaded in London on January 15, 1915 and and went from there to Brooklands where it is believed to have been used as a trainer. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom

Douglas R4D-8 US Navy #17171 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-117D by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of 17171 of the US Navy, which made an emergency landing in Iceland in 1973. On the 24th of november of that year, the Douglas R4D-8 17171 on route to Höfn í Hornafirði was forced to make an emergency landing at Sólheimasandur due to bad weather conditions at Höfn and low fuel. The landing was successful and the plane suffered no major damages. At the time the US navy was discontinuing it’s use of the Douglas C-47 and instead of repairing it, the plane was stripped of all valuables and abandoned in the black volcanic sand. Since then it’s been a favourite of photographers and adventure seeking tourists. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Gman5250.

Lockheed L-049 Constellation (48-612) MATS Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Lockheed L049 Constellation in the colors of 48-612 of the MATS. It was delivered to the USAF in 1949 and flew in support of the Berlin Airlift. This repaint shows it in the colors of the Atlantic Division of MATS around that time. It was converted to a C-121A and used for VIP missions for the remainder of its air force career, which lasted until 1967. It was then used as an agricultural spray aircraft, until it was bought by the Dutch Constellation Association. It went to the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad, the Netherlands in 2001, and was restored. It flew last in 2007, but insurance problems kept it grounded since. It is currently on static display in the Aviodrome, wearing KLM colors. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

Empire Air Mail Scheme (EAMS) England to Australia 1938 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
For FS2004 and FSX. In 1938 Imperial Airways (IA) and Qantas Empire Airlines (QEA) operated the extended Empire Air Mail Scheme (EAMS) between England and Australia using Short S.23 'C' Class "Empire" flying-boats. (Up to 1938 the EAMS service effectively terminated at Singapore). This flight gives you the information needed to operate the time-tabled route together with the variations that often applied between Southampton and Alexandria. "EAMS 1938" is an update to the original London to Sydney Flight created and uploaded in 2005. This new version has been made possible by additional route details discovered in Brian Cassidy's book "Flying Empires" (1996) and provides for a more accurate representation than did the original. The package contains PDF files for the documented info, some JPG files = one quite rare (the plan for the Groote Eylandt base) - and the BGL files for all the stopping locations.
