File Description:
Air Station Poznan-Lawica is one of the oldest airports in Poland. Built in 1913 as an Imperial German airbase (Fliegerstation Lawitz). During the Wielkopolskie (Greater Poland) Uprising on January 6, 1919 was captured by insurgents. As the first insurgent air unit, began to play a very important role in the development of Polish aviation and Polish Air Force. The Air Station Poznan-Lawica was one of the most important Polish airports in the interwar years.

Nome PAOM on the northwestern coast of Alaska Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which have good airports and are serviced by Alaska Airlines. From these airports local flights connect to nearby villages, "nearby" in Alaska meaning up to 200 miles away. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel. The town of Nome is south of the Bering Strait on the southern coast of the Seward Peninsula, around 185 miles south of Kotzebue, with a population of about 3,800. It is the town that led to the creation of the most famous dogsledge race in the world, the Iditarod, which is based on the delivery to Nome of diphtheria serum during the blizzard conditions of the winter of 1925. The Nome airport (it currently has no other name) was originally built as the last of the refuelling airfields for planes being ferried to Russia during WW2. It has two runways, aligned 09-27 and 02-20 in FS9 (the wandering magnetic north has recently renamed the magnetic headings) and both of them around 6,000 feet with an ILS on 27. There is a modern airport layout diagram included showing taxiway names etc. Alaska Airlines, ERA, and Bering Air (which is headquartered in Nome), along with the shared cargo terminal for Northern Air Cargo and Everts Air, are all on the southern apron. The northern apron is mainly for GA, along with maintenance facilities, a garage building that also houses a weather bureau, and at the far northern end of runway 02-20 an apron and hanger for the Alaska Air National Guard. All AI aircraft in FS9 much prefer to use a runway that has an ILS and so will continue to use 09-27 even if the wind is from the north or south, right up until it reaches 30+ knots, so for AI realism in FS9 a permanent wind from the west would be the most realistic on a daily basis. There is also a small gravel strip just north of the town and this is included (94Z), as are some old line-of-sight radio communication reflectors on the hills above the town. There is a note about making adjustments to Ultimate Terrain Alaska-Canada regarding both realistic road lighting and also auto-generation.

Excursion Inlet Cannery for the "Glacier Bay" scenery Download

File Description:
Excursion Inlet is in Alaska and in the area covered by Holger Sandmann's scenery called "Glacier Bay" which you will need to have already installed. It might work with just Ultimate Terrain, but then there will be no float base in the same inlet (nicely modelled by Holger and the team) which from the air is pushed off to one side (as a significant landmark, not literally!) by a large cannery which has been there since 1908. And rebuilt several times, I hasten to add, so don't think you're getting a museum piece here. And the only thing nearby that looms larger than the cannery is nature; lots of water, mountains, and trees. For me to start this Holger's scenery had to be there, so without it you won't get the same result.

Aklavik CYKD in the Northwest Territories, Canada Revised Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This version of Aklavik replaces the previous version so delete all previous installation elements. There is also for Inuvik replacement AI, additional texture, and replacement scenery bgl; this presumes you have already installed my revised post of Inuvik. There is also for Tuktoyuktak additional textures, and replacement scenery bgl's; this presumes you have already installed my 2012 post of Tuktoyakyuk. Aklavik is a town of 650 or so inhabitants 120 miles inside the Arctic Circle and on the West Channel of the Mackenzie River delta. It is 40 miles west of Inuvik. There are two airlines serving the town on a regular basis and one is Aklak Air, operated by Kenn Borek. Aklavik village has not been changed since my previous post, but the airfield now has the correct terminal building. The Inuvik replacement AI involves flights to Aklavik and Tuktoyaktuk and the texture and replacement bgl's are for gates that I forgot to include before. The Tuktoyaktuk scenery now has a barge carrying the prefabricated new terminal for Grise Fiord, plus other items for the installation work. Northern terminals are prefabricated and delivered either complete or in flat-pack form to reduce construction time on site to a minimum. There is a note explaining why the terminal building is on a barge instead of being installed at its destination!

Fort Liard CYJF in the Northwest Territories, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Fort Liard is the seventh in a series of airfields that follow (approximately) the Mackenzie River. At the far northern end of the river there is Tuktoyaktuk, then Inuvik, Fort McPherson, Fort Good Hope, Deline, Wrigley, and then Fort Simpson Island and Fort Simpson, all posted. Fort Liard is at 708 feet asl and on the east bank of the the Liard River, around 130 miles south of Fort Simpson where the Liard and Mackenzie join, and about 25 miles from the borders with both British Columbia and the Yukon. The town has a population of about 560 folks.

The airport is next to the town, and has almost 3,000 feet of gravel runway. I have no information regarding when it was built but it may be from the WW2 time; the cleared and grassed area is long enough for a runway 0f 6,000 feet. There are no scheduled flights but North Cariboo Air have a base at the airport for local charters to support survey teams etc. and are almost an on-demand-scheduled airline. I have also added a Buffalo DC3 and GA. There is fuel available, but only by prior arrangement with North Cariboo. Right hand circuits for runway 20.
