Global Airways Douglas C-54

File Description:
The repaint features Global Airways' N79000, an early production Douglas C-54 (c/n 3058) built at the Douglas factory at Santa Monica, CA, and delivered to the USAAF on February 8, 1943 as 41-37272. In 1946 the Civil Aviation Administration took her over as NC79000. Having been converted to DC-4 standard, she was bought on April 11, 1951 by Eastern Air Lines as N79000 '721'. In May 1955 she was sold and served many users such as Northwest, Transocean and World. In 1960 California Airmotive became the owner of the C-54. During September and October 1960 the C-54 was leased by Global Airways, a company based in Philadelphia, PA, from 1946 to around 1960. (founded by Simon Bolnick and Joseph Raphael; passenger charter operations included fishing and hunting charters to Canada.) In May 1961 the C-54 was sold as D-ADAM to Continentale in Germany. Already in December 1962 Continentale went bankrupt and the aircraft was stored in the open at Hamburg. In July 1963 Aviation Traders (Engineering) Ltd purchased the C-54 for conversion to Carvair car-ferry aircraft. As it turned out, the condition of the C-54 was extremely poor (corrosion on many places on the wing spars) so makeshift repairs were done before the aircraft was ferried to Stansted for its rebuild to Carvair G-ASKN.

VC-25A (Air Force One)

File Description: The VC-25A is a modified Boeing 747-200F used as a dignitary transport by the Air Mobility Command's 89th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base (KADF), Maryland. There are two twin sister aircraft with tail numbers 28000 and 29000. Both are used by the President of the United States (POTUS) and the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) and as a dignitary transport for high level personnel for special missions. When carrying the President, the call-sign is “Air Force One”, but otherwise uses a variety of call-signs when the President is not on-board. Each sister aircraft is nearly identical to the other, with all of the same accommodations. One can fly as a “Mask” when the President is on-board the other. The aircraft is modified with many secret aspects, and is heavier at Empty Weight than a normal 747-200F because of this. However, she normally only carries 102 souls on board with enough supplies to last for any long range flight, so she operates at a lower weight than the normal 747-200F. Due to the fortifications employed within the design, her MTOW is lower, as well. The engines are a bit more powerful than normal, and have better fuel efficiency. She has specialized equipment on-board for communications, a weather/recon radar dome (not shown in this paint scheme), and missile/aircraft countermeasures if needed. The interior is almost silent due to the high pressure cabin structure and fortified frame, including bullet-proof windows. Ría de Vigo (Bay of Vigo)

File Description:
Comprehensive revision of the area surroinding the Bay of Vigo, near the Vigo Airport (LEVX, aprox. at 42º18'N 8º38'W), in Galicia, Spain, including a more accurate coastline, from the Ría de Aldán until Toralla Island, plus the San Simon Island and other minor islands, detailed piers in Vigo and Cangas, several beaches, and a lot of 3D VFR references (more than 180 macros added), such as buildings (the City Hall, the Hospital Xeral, the Balaídos Stadium, the Castro stronghold...), working lighthouses, several monuments and statues, some main streets redrawn, a new version of my Rande Bridge, now with collision detection and landable surface, and a handfull of eye-candies I can't even remember! - Completa revisión da costa da Ría de Vigo, dende a Ría de Aldán ata pasada a Illa de Toralla, incluíndo, por suposto, á Illa de San Simón e outros pequenos illotes, praias (Samil, Nerga...), os peiraos de Cangas e de Vigo, dende o Areal ata Bouzas, unha morea de novas referencias visuais (máis de 180 macros), con edificios (o Concello, o Hospital Xeral, o estadio de Balaídos, o castelo do Castro, o lazareto de San Simón...), faros (nas Cíes e na costa...), algún que outro monumento, unha revisión do trazado dalgunhas das vías principais, unha nova versión da miña Ponte de Rande, con detección de colisións e superficie "aterrable", e moitas cousas máis que xa nin eu mesmo lembro. - Completa revisión de la costa de la Ría de Vigo (Galicia, España, aprox. en 42º18'N 8º38'O), desde la Ría de Aldán hasta pasada la Isla de Toralla, incluyendo la Isla de San Simón y otros pequeños islotes, playas (Samil, Nerga...), los muelles de Cangas y de Vigo, desde el Areal hasta Bouzas, un montón de nuevas referencias visuales (más de 180 macros), con edificios (el Ayuntamiento, el Hospital Xeral, el estadio de Balaídos, el castillo del Castro, el lazareto de San Simón...), faros (en las Cíes y en la costa...), algún que otro monumento, una revisión del trazado de algunas de las vías principales, una nueva versión de mi Puente de Rande, con detección de colisiones y superficie "aterrizable", y muchas cosas más de las que ni yo mismo me acuerdo.
