File Description:
Boeing B-52 Stratofortress (Part 6). The B-52 first flew in 1952, the last one was built in 1961, and there are still over 90 of the original 744 airframes either in front-line service or in a ready-reserve status. With extensive avionics upgrades starting this year, the USAF plans on using the B-52s until 2045, 93 years after first flight. The aircraft has an impressive resume, having served in five shooting wars and was the backbone of Strategic Air Command's nuclear deterrent air component during almost forty years of Cold War service.
Jake Burrus started this AI traffic model a couple of years ago, and I was honored to pick up the project and get it across the finish line, with no small amount of help from Mike MacIntyre, as usual. This is a 7-LOD AI traffic model representing the Stratofortress in all of its operational service. This is part 6, showcasing the early-period B-52H from 1960 to 1973, prior to EVS, and including a total of 44 repaints. Also included are optional models for VFR traffic use. Aircraft model by Jake Burrus and Mike Pearson, master textures and repaints by Mike Pearson, flight dynamics by Mike MacIntyre. Please read the extensive documentation contained in the file.

Description:
From June 1943 to August 1945, the 560th, 561st, 562nd and 563rd Bombardment Squadrons of the 388th Bombardment Group with B-17's, flew 331 missions (including 19 Aphrodite missions from Fersfeld) losing 179 B-17s. On 6 September 1943, the 388th lost 11 B-17's on a mission to Stuttgart including all the aircraft of the 563rd BS. The airfield was not used again and sold off in 1957.
This add-on is not compatible with VFR scenery. Sorry for that.
Included in the download is an AI traffic BGL file that makes this base come to life. To get this file working, you must have the Wings of Power Heavy Bombers and Jets add on installed. You must also have downloaded the two repaint set for the B-17 done by my friend Chuck Lawsen. This last file can be found here at Avsim, its called: wop_388_b17.zip This project is as always dedicated to all the brave young men that contributed to the effort of getting Europe out of the claws of a dark, perhaps the darkest period in modern history, but this time it is especially dedicated to 1st Lt. Ralph M. Reese, co-pilot 562nd Sqd., and of course all the brave men of the 388th.
Enjoy!
