| Koyuk PAKK in Alaska |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Koyuk is a coastal village around 125 miles east of Nome at the mouth of the Koyuk River, with a population just under 400 living from fishing and the land. The airfield is close by and has a gravel runway aligned 18-36, 3,300 feet long with VASI at both ends. Apart from the airfield itself, and it's buildings, this scenery modifies the local land class, adds village buildings while reducing the village size to reality, and creates a new airfield background. Bering Air and ERA both fly into Deering and are included in the AI. A note here about my scenery making. This is post number 506 and there will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes. There is a limit to what can be located online and I have already been making use of the little there is; eg Unalakleet. So, if you are near an airport (preferably Canadian or Alaskan) and have a camera..... Let me know.

File Description:
Some paints for FS2004 (which may work in other versions) to fill out the Era Alaska fleet. Includes liveries for the DWAI PA31-250, HTAI B1900C, HTAI Cessna 406, DWAI Shorts S3-30 and TFS Dash 8-100, and the payware HTAI Cessna singles, for which models must be downloaded separately. These paints are intended to augment paints for other fleet aircraft by other authors, details of which are in the read-me. To complement the recently released AIG flightplans for Era.

| Nulato NUL in Alaska |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Nulato is a small village on the west bank of the Yukon River, around 8 miles south of where the river turns from north-south to east-west, east being upstream towards the distant Fairbanks. The population is just under 300 and living from fishing and the land. During the late 1800's the village lived by the spin off from gold mining, such as supplying cut wood as fuel for the boats plying the Yukon River. In 1900 a measles epidemic cut the population down by a third, and in the early 1900's the gold mining moved to Nome and Fairbanks, with obvious results for local prosperity. The airfield is close by and has a gravel runway aligned 2-20 and just under 4,500 feet long. Apart from the airfield itself, and it's buildings, this scenery modifies the local land class, adds village buildings while reducing the village size to reality, and creates a new airfield background. Don't ask me about the odd arrangement of the airfield buildings, I have no idea why they are like that. Nulato is served by Wright Air from Fairbanks in the east and this is included in the AI. A note here about my scenery making. This is post number 508 and there will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes. | Kaltag KAL in Alaska |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Kaltag is a small village on the west bank of the Yukon River, around 65 miles east of the coast at Unalakleet and about 40 miles south of where the river turns from north-south to east-west, east being upstream towards the distant Fairbanks. The population is just under 200 and living from fishing and the land. The airfield is close by and has a gravel runway aligned 21-3 and just under 5,000 feet long. Apart from the airfield itself, and it's buildings, this scenery modifies the local land class, adds village buildings while reducing the village size to reality, and creates a new airfield background. Kaltag is located on the edge of three different airlines coverage areas, and is served by Bering Air from the northwest, ERA from the southwest, and also by Wright Air from Fairbanks in the east. These are included in the AI.

| Galena PAKP in Alaska |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Galena is a village on the Yukon River, around 30 miles east of the corner where the westward running river turns south. The population is just under 500 and the city is noted for its educational facilities that attract residential students from across the state. Adjacent to the city is the Galena Air Force Station that previously shared the use of the Edward G. Pitna Snr. airport until 2007, when the station was closed and the air force personnel left. The station facilities have been taken over by the community and the airport became the largest state-maintained airport in the interior of Alaska. Substantial resurfacing and finishing work was then carried out, and the new asphalt runway is now 6,000 feet long and aligned 7-25, with VASI at both ends and ILS on 25. There is a secondary gravel runway beside part of the main asphalt runway, and this is treated in radio announcements as if it is not a separate runway and landing or take off are on the adjacent asphalt. The airport is serviced by ERA (now called Ravn) and Wrights Air, with cargo flights by the eternal Everts. Included here is a small modification for Allakaket, which deletes a single remaining stock FS9 taxiway light. The AI included here also provided Allakaket with a Saturday Everts delivery flight, but I neglected to mention that before. A note here about my scenery making. There will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes, plus I expect to move on from FS9 at some point during next year.

| PADL - Dillingham - Alaska, USA |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Dillingham is a town with a population of around 2,300 at the southeast corner of the Bering Sea in Bristol Bay, 70 miles west of King Salmon. The town's economical well being is based on the commercial price of salmon and the numerous surrounding sport fishing lodges. FS9 shows the town as way more extensive than it is; the landclass textures correct this. The airport is a mile west of the town and has a single runway 6,400 feet long and orientated 01-19. There are scheduled passenger flights by Alaska Air (numerous in summer and non-existant in winter) and PenAir (year around) plus cargo flights by Everts and Northern Air Transport, and local scheduled flights by Grant Air; the AI includes these, plus GA. The GA gravel apron is behind the main apron and across a road, which is unusual. The parking on the asphalt apron is marked; in actuality there are no markings but landing at a field in FS9 that doesn't have a control tower leaves one wondering where to go; the six spots at the far northern end are unused by AI and free for visitors.

| Hawaii Photoreal - Niihau, Lehua and Kaula |
|
File Description:
The Hawaii Photoreal project from FSX is proud to bring a gorgeous island to X-Plane, Niihau! This is the first Hawaii Photoreal Scenery available with HD Mesh for X-Plane 10! Installation instructions are included. You must download both files for full HD Mesh experience. This scenery will not align correctly with default terrain and coastlines or those available with AlpilotX's HD Mesh 2. It should also be noted that this scenery will explode upon decompression - the true size of the folder is 341MB, whereas the download size is only 88MB. Make sure you aren't almost out of space. Niihau for X-Plane 10 includes customized HD Mesh for the entire island, including Lehua and Kaula. This isn't just processed DEM data - we have reviewed and perfected the coastlines and cliffs for ideal appearance. Please show support for this project by considering donating to the Hawaii Photoreal Project through the website.

| High-resolution 76-m (LOD9) Terrain Mesh and Scenery Enhancements for the Southern Canadian Rockies |
|
File Description:
Not simply an add-on mesh, these files include many scenery enhancements for the southern Rockies of British Columbia and Alberta. Coverage extends from Cranbrook to Calgary, and Hinton to Edmonton (N48.9-53.4 W112.3-116.3). The mesh source data are 3-arcsec (~90-m) Shuttle Radar (SRTM) files, compiled at LOD9 (76-m) resolution. All lake elevations (!) have been adjusted to eliminate the problems with the default lake data and to better fit the new terrain mesh. In addition, the Transcanada Highway/Icefields Parkway corridor in Banff National Park, from Canmore to the Hwy 11 junction, has been completely re-made, with dozens of alpine lakes (including Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Lake O'Hara), accurate transportation network, and landclass/waterclass updates based on satellite imagery. Due to significant changes in FS2004 to vector layering and autogen features, the special scenery enhancements cannot be used with FS2002. However, terrain mesh, lake corrections and landclass replacements will work well in FS2002.
