Thomas Browne Airpark Airport (61NJ), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 02 miles W of Glassboro, New Jersey, Thomas Browne Airpark Airport is a private turf strip 200080 feet. There is no hard-surfaced runway, which means you will be landing on terrain so it is recommended you set your mesh resolution as high as possible. Watch out for trees and buildings alongside and at opposite ends of the runway. Crop fields are planted to the south of the runway and border the runway. You won't crash if you run into them but it certainly won't put you in good favor with the field owners! Take caution to avoid the transmission line towers as they are not lit at night! Neither is the runway, for that matter, so daytime VFR operations only are recommended for this airfield. Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 004. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

Gunateeta Air Shuttle Download

File Description:
Gunateeta Air Shuttle is owned by Ingur Sing, an old pilot who flew for many years as co-pilot for India Airways. One day he desided to quit the airline and open his own business with an Auster which he bought for 70,000 Rupies of that time. He flew passengers and cargo to many towns with just a grass strip near Bombay, for about 10 years. He now now owns two DH 104 Doves and since he is too old to fly them he hires pilots that have the needed credentials who fly his planes to small towns that now have a small airfield but are way out in some rugged areas. The regular flight is that which leaves Bombay late in the afternoon, around 4:45PM and flies on to Kurpikang, Majuri, Churpikur and finally stops in ::::::::: where the last passengers disembarc. Here the plane is loaded with flowers and rubber plants that must be flown to Bombay where they will be transfered to the late night Flight to N.Y. by Air India...the flowers must be next day in "Bulby Sing" flower shop in Manhattan---that´s Ingur´s sister business in America..... So, Piloto you have the flight this evening...get over

Tie downs are available at the Runway 23 end of the airport with South parking being the main tie down area. North parking is on the grass off the main taxiways and East parking is behind the main hangar near the parking lot. All parking is for aircraft with wingspans of 40' or less. Fuel is available by stopping near the tank next to the main hangar near Runway 23. PAPI for Runway 23 is out of service indefinitely, which is why you will see the PAPI boxes but no lights. All static objects and trees adjacent to the taxiways and parking spots have collision disabled.

RAF Bovingdon EGWX 1955 Download

File Description:
Bovingdon was a London airport of some importance and used as an alternate by (at least) BOAC and Pan Am after the Second World War, partly because its elevation of just over 500 feet made it less subject to poor visibility than London Heathrow. It had been built for RAF four-engined bombers near the village of Bovingdon in Hertfordshire and was used by Bomber Command from June 1942 but transferred to the US Eighth Air Force in August. They only flew operational missions with B-17s for a brief period and after that it was employed for crew training until September 1944 when it became the base for the European Air Transport Service. It was returned to the RAF in 1947 but handed over for use by civilian airlines while retaining significant military roles. The RAF Fighter Command Communication Squadron was based there and in 1951 the USAF assigned the C-47s of the 7531st Air Base Squadron to it, though other USAF types visited in large numbers on a transitory but routine basis. The USAF left in October 1962 but the RAF remained there until the airfield was closed in 1972. This scenery recreates Bovingdon, with period traffic, as it was in 1955.

Mary River CMR2 on Baffin Island in Nunavut Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a very early version of an airfield in Nunavut built to serve an iron ore mine some 100 miles south of Pond Inlet on Baffin Island. In 2004 the airstrip was just being built, with a very basic camp set up for the construction crew who then went on to develop the roads etc in the immediate area. The original plan was for an opencast mine, with ore being transported south on a new (and expensive) railroad link to a new port on the south shore of Baffin Island. This plan was later changed to a (much cheaper) road to Milne Inlet, north of Mary River. And there my story rests, as although production has now started I have no further information about the operating mine. Nolinor currently flies regular supply flights into the camp; the AI here is for the early days. The gravel runway is 4,800 feet long and 150 feet wide, aligned 124T-304T as all runway headings in the north are given as true rather than the unreliable magnetic, which would be 12-30. Runway lighting and PAPI was installed early on and is included here; signage is not and the apron is the early version.

EGVL - RAF Little Rissington - Gloucestershire, England Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Representative scenery of RAF Little Rissington in Gloucestershire.

RAF Little Rissington (ICAO: EGVL) is an RAF aerodrome and former RAF station in Gloucestershire, England. It was once home to the Central Flying School, the Vintage Pair and the Red Arrows.

Built during the 1930s, the station was opened in 1938 and closed in 1994. The married-quarters and main technical site were sold in 1996 (the former becoming the village of Upper Rissington), but the aerodrome has been retained by the Ministry of Defence and remains active along with the southern technical sites, under the operational control of No.2 Flying Training School at RAFC Cranwell.

It is now home to 637 Volunteer Gliding Squadron as the primary military unit, who provide elementary flying training for Combined Cadet Force and Air Training Corps cadets. The airfield is also used by the forces as a relief landing ground, training area and parachute dropping area. In previous years, the Royal Air Force estate has been used as a film set, including The Avengers, part of the ice chase in Die Another Day, and the Thunderbirds film.

This scenery has been made using various scenery libraries, mainly from MAIW. Full listing in the docs.

Clyde River CYCY & Cape Christian in Nunavut Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Clyde River is a village on the northeast coast of Baffin Island, 250 miles above the Arctic Circle and around 150 miles north of Cape Hooper. It is on the shore of Patricia Bay at the entrance to Cylde Inlet, a fjord which stretches over 60 miles inland. The population is around 880 folks, and it was named by the explorer John Ross in 1818. The airfield is just east of the village and the lighted runway is 3,501' of 100' wide gravel at 87' ASL, aligned 018 True 198 True; "True" as opposed to magnetic in the Northern Domestic Airspace. There are two aprons, one with the new terminal building and one with the old terminal and the garage. Five miles northeast of Clyde River is Cape Christian, where there is a gravel runway around 3,000' long and adjacent to the beach, built to serve what was started as a weather station and later became a LORAN navigation system station. The station is still there, though it was closed some time ago and is now the subject of decontamination work. The runway is usable, though only for light planes as it is a bit rough. First Air and Canadian North are the AI planes visting Clyde River.

Komakuk Beach & Storm Hills DEW sites in Yukon and Northwest Territories, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
These are DEW line sites in northern mainland Canada, to the west of Tuktoyaktuk.

Komakuk Beach CWKB is not included in FS9 and is in the Yukon, only 20 miles from the Alaska border. It is, as the name suggests, close to the sea, and the gravel runway 3,600' by 125' has its western end almost on the beach. There is no lighting and no signage and the airfield is officially listed as closed, but in fact is used during the annual maintenance and refuelling of the automated NWS (North Warning Station) close by and for any unscheduled servicing. This replaced the previous much older DEW station that was manned year round and had a lot more buildings.

Storm Hills CWSH is in the Northwest Territories, 43 miles south-southwest of Tuktoyaktuk, up on higher land at 810 feet ASL. The NWS (there was no previous DEW station at this site) is serviced by helicopter from Tuktoyaktuk and has a gravel landing pad on the north side of the station. It will show on a gps and it is 5 miles west of the distinctively shaped and large Parsons Lake. This too was not in FS9.

Alaska South Slope 5; Ambler PAFM Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is a continuation of the series for the flights from Kotzebue, 130 miles to the east to Ambler on the bank of the Kobuk River. The next additions will be a few miles further east, Shungnak and Kobuk, and a small strip just to the north of Kobuk. Ambler is a small village (population now around 260) beside the Kobuk River, the river being the reason for the existance of the village as it served (and still does) as both a source of food and a transport route. The airfield is just north of the village, with two runways, each around 3,500 feet of lit gravel and aligned 36-18 and 09-27, with PAPI on 36. There are scheduled flights by Era (now renamed Ravn) and by Bering Air, both of them originating in Kotzebue and routing east to Ambler, Shungnak, Kobuk, and then back again. The AI includes these flights along with Everts Air and GA. There are revisions to Kotzbue to provide more parking.
