This version updates the post of 2006 with specifically modelled buildings for the east apron, plus a new AFCAD file. This is a stand-alone version and does not require you to have downloaded and installed the previous post. Carp airfield is fifteen miles west of Ottawa and two miles south of the town of Carp. There are two runways, 10/28 which is asphalt and almost 4,000 feet long and 100 feet wide, and 04/22 which is gravel and 2,000 feet long. The airfield has a fairly large polulation of general aviation residents and two years ago was expanding under new ownership, with a new terminal building and a large hangar opened and the "Touch'n Go" aviation warehouse that has opened more recently. The first version of Carp really included only the west apron, as that is where all (or almost all) the general aviation is located. I "represented" the east apron buildings without modelling any of them. This version corrects that, and the modeled east apron buildings are the HQ of Helicopter Transport Services Inc. and the adjacent Bell Helicopter service hangar, and the old First Air hangar and offices which are now under new ownership. The smaller hangars on the other side of the apron belong to chapter 245 of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

| North American P-51D Mustang "Hell-er Bust" |

A repaint only for the payware Warbirdsim product 'Mustang Tales'. This repaint depicts the restored P-51D-20-NA 44-72438, "Hell-er Bust", registered N7551T. This specific aircraft is known to have been delivered to the 8th Air Force in England in late January 1945, however no available records indicate any combat time or what, if any, Fighter Group the aircraft was assigned. Following the end of WWII the aircraft served with the Swedish AF as Fv26131, and then with the Dominican AF as FAD 1920. After being imported back into the U.S. in the 1980's, the aircraft was purchased by Selby Burch and given a ground-up restoration. Finished in 118th TRS markings, the aircraft won the Grand Champion WWII Warbird award at Sun 'N Fun 1997. The aircraft was later purchased by Bob Jepson/Lady Alice Corporation and first repainted as 'Lady Alice' and then as 'Hell-er Bust'. In 2006 the aircraft was obtained by the Historic Aircraft Foundation and based at Paine Field, near Seattle, WA. Since 2009, the aircraft has been owned by Mark Peterson/Mustang High Flight LLC, based at Boise, Idaho, and remains finished as 'Hell-er Bust'. The markings depict an original wartime mount of Lt. Col. Edwin L. 'Ed' Heller, a P-51D-10-NA (44-14696) of the 486th FS, 352nd FG. This repaint features new bump maps, wheel well, gun bay, and cockpit textures.

The new Airbus will initially be sold in two versions: the A380-800, carrying 555 passengers in a three-class configuration or up to 800 passengers in a single-class economy configuration. Expected range for the -800 model is 8,000 nautical miles (14,800 km). The second model, the A380-800F dedicated freighter, will carry 150 tons of cargo 5,600 miles (10,400 km). Airbus made the cockpit layout, procedures and handling characteristics similar to those of other Airbus aircraft to reduce crew training costs. Ulukhaktok (Holman) is an airfield on the west side of Victoria Island, off the northern coast of Canada. It is 320 miles west of Cambridge Bay (and you should download and install the recent post of CYCB by Sid and Pete, as I use it for the AI included in this post) and around 400 miles east of Inuvik (my post of a few months ago). It has been officially called Ulukhaktok since 2006, and before that it's name was Holman.
The village of Ulukhaktok has been placed around the bay and is approximately the right shape; it houses some 460 people who used to rely solely on hunting and fishing. The village is close to 71 degrees north, and there are only four months of the year when the average high is above zero centigrade. The photograph with snow (and of course a frozen sea) is typical; for the frozen sea download my Frozen Rivers & Lakes post which will provide this. The buildings on the field have been modelled specifically for this scenery, and as in real life there is only JetA available. The AI visiting aircraft are an Aklak Air DC3 (based in Inuvik and operated by Kenn Borek Air) and a Canadian North Dash 8-100. Note that the runways are signed as "true" headings instead of magnetic; in the Canadian Northern Domestic Airspace all headings are given as true. Unfortunately FS9 doesn't accommodate this in ATC.
