File Description:
The town of Kenai is on the east coast of Cook Inlet, 60 miles southwest of Anchorage. The airport is in the northern part of the town, with a runway aligned 1-19, 7,550 feet long and 150 feet wide (with an ILS on 19). A second runway is gravel, 2,000 feet long and for winter use by ski planes. There is also a water runway, and all three are aligned the same and called "1 left-19 right" (the main runway) "1 right-19 left" (gravel) and "1 water-19 water". The taxiways are extensive and designed for a far larger traffic than the airport has today, though even now the airport is fairly busy. In FS9 a water runway for AI cannot work with an ATC control tower; the water part of PAEN has therefore been separated into another call sign PAEX which has ONLY the water runway; the tower will therefore direct the plane that makes contact to use the water runway. The PAEN airport runway has taxiway connections at each end and also two intermediates; at the northern end there are in fact two so a total of 5; B, C, D, E, and F; there is an airport diagram included. GA traffic goes to one of two parking aprons, both at the southern end, and at the far southern end there is the hangar for the Civil Air Patrol. The AI includes aircraft from my previous Alaska posts, as Kenai is where I sent them when they departed from, for instance, Palmer. Airlines and cargo companies that operate from and to Kenai are included in the AI: ERA (which has recently changed it's name), Grant Aviation, Air North, Wings of Alaska, North Star Air, and a small local company Air Supply Alaska, along with Fedex, UPS, Everts, and Northern Air Cargo. There is also GA and float AI. Nearby smaller airfields are included, partly because one of them was dramatically misaligned in FS9.

Carnes Farm Download

File Description:
Welcome to Knox County Kentucky!

These are the files that I talked about in the Prepar3d forums. I created these objects for Fs9, then upgraded them to the scenery SDK for FSX. They were created 10 years ago in GMAX, and I have used them successfully ever since in Prepared 1.4 as well.

For some reason the individual farmhouse and other objects that I created are not showing up in Prepar3d version 2.0.

That's where you guys come in! These files are free to use in anyway you want as long as proper attribution is given, but, I would like you guys who have both Prepar3d 1.4 and 2.0 to try them out in both and report back to me as to whether you have the same problems that I do. That's your only fee. And I'd like you guys to give it a shot in both, or all four( I am not sure that they will work in FS9 anymore, but try it out. Unfortunately I can't recompile my FSX SDK Files back to FS9 if it doesn't work).

What's included:

1. Photo real scenery of Barbourville, 10 miles to the north west of stinking Creek where we live, and;

2. Photo real scenery of the farm area and stinking Creek, upon which I have placed my GMAX objects;

A. The farm house.Carnes Farm From the Bridge at 500 AGL.jpg

B. The barn, shed and the RV in back of the farmhouse.

C. A two-story long structure the top of which is an apartment but the bottom of which is a re-creation of Mama Carne's store, along with all the real wood floors shelves and original contents.. It is also o n Google earth in 3-D as it is here with further description .

... A little note on Gmax.. Mama Carne's store was one the first structures that I built in Gmax. It was just a box. Later, I added the true architectural features that you see including the steps and rails which took about as long to create as it would have to Saw and fit and hammer the real rails, risers and steps.

D. K-6, my little 2300 foot strip for runways 03 and 21. It has VOR - (117.55), ILS(110.1), and NDB(222).

E. Gerald Bingham's house, 1/4 mile up Warriors Path North from us.( mostly dirt road with gravel topping).

F. Dewitt Baptist Church.

Off property Knox county

G.Escoe's Store and Post Office complete with great prices for gas at the included pumps.

Escoes.jpg

H. Rex allen's killer corner...sheds and farm equipment on the sharpest bend on Stinking Creek...my son went off it with a flat tire, unscathed, but more than several have lost their lives on that curve... there may be several iterations of the sheds...just delete or rename the wrong ones...I was experimenting with ModelConverterX, Arno Gerretsen's wonderful model and object scenery tool.

I. sitting on top of the Barbourville Photo real scenery Barbourville PhotoReal over the shopping center.jpg is the Barbourville P3D Shopping Center2.jpg shopping center all the stores and all the storefronts ... it's on 25 E. as you head into Barbourville.

Recreated, is the entire shopping center with the now outmoded Wal-Mart sign. Probably my magnum opus.

note on the Gmax scenes.

All of the scenery was either directly measured and if not practical for a such a long measuring device, walked off, as in the Stinking Creek Bridge and shopping center. All of the objects were then photographed, in 360° where possible and saved as texture for inclusion in the Gmax model.

Enjoy!

...oh... how do you get there? Wellllll.... situate yourself at Middlesboro (1a6), and tune your Nav radio to K-69's VOR, 117.55, take off and climb to 3500 feet...grinnnnn

JELAIR - Maersk Air, Boeing 737-2L9 (OY-MBZ) - version 3 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This aircraft (for FSX, with update-patch #2) is a simulated replica of Maersk Air's 'Pocket Rocket' OY-MBZ (a Boeing 737-2L9 a.k.a. 737-200/Advanced) anno 1989. It is designed for a screen-resolution of 1280x1024. Other resolutions have not been tested. It will NOT work correctly in FS2004 (FS9). It has been tested on Windows XP (32bit) and Windows 7 (64bit) only. It is designed to be as realistic as possible, and flight-experience from the real aircraft, as well as large amounts of documentation, have been used to get it as accurate as possible. It has a fairly advanced panel with many systems simulated, such as a passenger oxygen system, a cabin pressure system, anti-skid brakes, EPR control of each engine (with the possibility of asymmetric thrust), IVSI with TCAS, Sperry SP177 autopilot with working CWS and level-change button, active yaw-damper, Quality-of-flight index (so you can see how well you operate the aircraft), windshield wiper, custom flight-computer, automatic Vspeeds for takeoff and landing, takeoff trim calculator, master caution system, PAX simulator (if you make a mistake they may die), a JT8D-17 engine with slow spin-up time (do not idle it on approach). It features a relatively realistic random-failures/error simulation which will trigger, or de-trigger, any of a variety of possible failures/errors (from small gauge-errors to large engine-failures or cabin de-compression). The chance of a failure/error is very low (you may never even get one, but they can happen, so stay alert), maybe less than 1 percent chance per 24 hours of flight-time. It features engine-management simulation, so overheating an engine will cause it to fail (now you actually need to pay attention to the EGT during engine-startup, and have your finger ready at the fuel-cutoff switch just in case you need to save the engine from heat-damage). It features sounds recorded from the actual aircraft (OY-MBZ).

This is the third release of this JELAIR addon. A very big thank you to all the following very talented people that participated directly or in-directly in the production of this add-on: Original Model by Erick Cantu, Original Panel by Pablo Contouris, Original Panel BMP by Bob Scott, Original Panel Gauges by Ken Mitchell, Doug Dawson, Pierre Fasseaux, SPanel, www.FS2X.com, Original Sound by Christoffer Petersen, Original Textures by Henry William, FDE, various modifications and adjustments for aircraft type, as well as additional gauges and sounds by JELAIR

Douglas A-20C Boston Dutch Naval Air Service Download

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas A-20C by Milton Shupe and his team. It shows Douglas DB7 Boston D52 of the Royal Dutch East Indies Navy, Andir, 6 March 1942. In december 1941, the Dutch government ordered 32 Douglas Boostons for the defence of the Dutch Indies after the outbreak of war in the Pacific. These aircraft were destined for the MLD, or Dutch Naval Air Service. The aircraft were painted in RAF camouflage colors and received Dutch orange triangles on the fuselage and the underside of the wings, together with a serial consisting of a D with a number and the text KON.MARINE on the nose. The aircraft were crated and shipped to the Dutch East Indies, with the first six arriving in Java on the 27th of February 1942, just a day before the Japanese landings in Java. The crates were unloaded in Tjilatjap. It was decided to try and assemble a few aircraft on the spot, in the harbor of Tjilatjap, while three crates were sent to Andir by train. Despite Japanese bombing raids on the harbor, the MLD technicians managed to assemble two Bostons in the harbor, and on the morning of the 5th of March, Lt Burgerhout, a Catalina pilot, took of from an improvised runway withh D52 and flew to Tasikmalaja, where it was planned to fill the aircraft with fuel for the flight to Andir air base. However, no suitable fuel was found. Before the second Boston could be flown out, the 'runway' was destroyed by a second Japanese bomb raid, so the ground crew destroyed the aircraft. The aircraft at Tasikmalaja was destroyed on the 8th of Mmarch, just before the capitulation of the Dutch East Indies. Of the aircraft transported by train, one was assembled, and this fell intact into the hands of the Japanese, who later used it for flight evaluations. The other two aircraft were destroyed by their ground crews. The other 26 Bostons still underway were diverted to Australia, and these later flew with no 22 squadron of the RAAF. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by William Ellis.

Boeing 787-942 VIP-BBJ Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Boeing 787-942 Boeing Business Jet (VIP), AKA "DreamJet", is the Corporate version of this aircraft, modified for individual client specs. The range is extended beyond the normal 787-9 due to additional fuel tanks, a lot less payload weight, and more powerful and efficient engines. The Cabin Pressure is decreased to 6,000 ft, allowing for higher Flight Levels than normal. The tail number on this model can be changed to match the user's preference, since it is not apparent on the exterior (No Airline Call used on Private Aircraft). This is a huge aircraft and normally seats about 300 passengers, but there are only 48 (including Pilots/Attendants) on this plane. A lot of space remains for luxuries that are well beyond any Business Jet of any kind other than the 747 or A380. Some of these luxuries include automated beds that are hidden in the floorboard and activated by the attendants when requested, and each of these includes a privacy barrier. There is one Large Screen TV with stereo surround sound with theater seating in the fore section, and separate small screen monitors located at every assigned seat (including flight data relay of all positioning and aircraft data viewable). The kitchen is fully equipped with 935 lbs of various food and drinks, with one attendant being a Master Chef. There is a automated Dance Floor that can be activated in the theater area, after the seating chairs are automatically stored below deck. The crew also experiences luxury as the pilots have a twin-bed sleeping area with a private kitchen (2 sleep while 2 fly), as do the attendants (fore and aft upper deck) with twin beds and private kitchens. The aircraft is also more luxurious in that it has 6.000 ft of pressure continuous to 47,000 ft, and has a very low interior noise level. There are also many added safety features that provide for survival in the event of a mishap, making it possible to survive a water crash for several days through the use of 6 inflatable skiff-rafts with engines, radios, and supplies. All attendants are trained and certified Registered Nurses, and they have 25 lbs of medications and supplies stored in the aft. Some of these features add to the empty weight, so the MTOW is the same as a normal aircraft of this design for commercial use (the gear are also modified for these accommodations). This aircraft is designed for educational use protected under the Fair Use Doctrine: (http://www.expertlaw.com/library/intellectual_property/fair_use.html) It cannot be sold or bundled for sale, and such will never be approved by me or the original authors. Caproni-Vizzola C-22J Ventura Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The Machine: A fully aerobatic, very-light Jet that compares to the Bede BD-5J, but heavier and sporting two instead of one TRS-18 turbojets. Up to Mach 0.47 and 650 NM of range, with a service ceiling of 25000ft. A low stall speed (for a jet) makes the aircraft good for short field operations. Certified for VFR operations only, yet includes a good avionics suite. This is a "Classic" aircraft featuring "Steam" gauges and radios. Yet, controls and systems are easy to operate. The History: The C-22J is the last aircraft to be adorned with the legendary Caproni name. Originally known as "Caproncino", then marketed as "Ventura". A very-light jet developed in the 1980s as a military trainer, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft. Powered by two TRS-18 turbojets fed from a dorsal NACA intake, the aircraft reached Mach 0.47 and was fully aerobatic. The airframe shows its origin in a glider design, the Caproni A-21 Calif. After the merger with SIAI Marchetti, the project was cancelled in favor of the SF-260. The Simulation - 3D Model: This aircraft ships with a 3-D cockpit, that incorporates realistic night lighting, in the form of a dim dome flood light, backlit gauges and luminous digital displays. The flight crew of 2 is affected by your input in the payloads menu of Flight Simulator, allowing to choose between male, female or empty seats. The Copilot Figure can be hidden with a quick click in the internal 3D view as well. The Simulation - Realism: This aircraft has been tuned with the invaluable help of Engineer Carlo Ferrarin, who created the real aircraft. Unique and one-off documentation has been kindly provided, and used extensively, for the creation of this product! Just like the real aircraft, the systems are simple and of easy operation. Engines can be started with the press of a button. Systems modelling allows the following of real-world checklists as closely as Flight Simulator allows. An in-sim checklist is included, as well as a full flight manual. The flight model is tuned with advanced aerospace techniques, resulting in a highly realistic aircraft, yet, it is very pleasant to fly, both during aerobatic displays or "A to B" cruising. Highlights: - High-Resolution 3D cockpit - Full Documentation - Aerobatic FS-2004 Version comes with limited support and is free due to platform limitations. See Readme. FS-X & P3Dv4 (64-bit) versions are commercial products.

RAF Keevil Download

File Description:
The airfield was built on a site previously ear-marked for the purpose in the mid-1930s. Consisting of 3 long concrete runways the airfield was used by the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Forces Eighth and Ninth Air Forces. In 1942 Keevil airfield was provided to the USAAF and it was assigned USAAF designation 471 (KV). Squadrons based at the unit transported military freight and supplies using C-47 and C-53 aircraft. RAF Fighter Command use Short Stirlings of Nos. 196 and 299 Squadrons RAF lining the runway at RAF Keevil on the evening of 5 June 1944 before emplaning paratroops of the 5th Parachute Brigade Group for the invasion of Normandy With the departure of the Americans, the RAF used Keevil beginning in March 1944 for 196 and 299 Squadron Short Stirling glider tugs of No. 38 Group RAF arrived followed by a large number of Horsa gliders, crewed by Army pilots of the Glider Pilot Regiment. The RAF Stirling aircraft were crewed by RAF, RCAF, RAAF, RNZAF and SAAF personnel and were engaged in SOE and SAS drops. largely in France, and in glider towing. Their involvement in the Normandy invasion of France and Operation Market-Garden is well remembered by Keevil and Steeple Ashton villagers. Casualties of army and air force personnel were heavy and a number of aircraft were lost. With the end of military control, Keevil airfield is virtually complete with all of its runways, perimeter track and many of the hardstands still in place. It is used occasionally for British Army and RAF exercises. The airfield is still frequently used by the RAF for training purposes such as air drops and parachuting, the gate is always locked and access is restricted to authorized key holders only. Ref ~ http://www.wdrcfc.org.uk/wp/about-2/clubrules/ Since 1992 it has been home to the Bannerdown Gliding Club, an RAF Gliding and Soaring Association Club, affiliated to RAF Brize Norton since the closure of nearby RAF station at Lyneham. The airfield is also used as a motorsport circuit for various events. It is also the home of the Warminster and District Radio Control flying club. In September 1994 the Keevil Society, organised by Paul Vingoe, held a Commemorative Day to mark the 50th anniversary of the D-Day and Arnhem operations and to dedicate a memorial to all who served at Keevil, especially those who flew from there and lost their lives. File Description:
Hythe Village and Pier

Hythe Village [Town] nestles between the edge of Southampton Water and the New Forest, some 500 yards west of the ‘American Base – RAF Hythe’; the surrounding area is known as ‘The Waterside’. Hythe, with its waterfront, boasts incredible views across Southampton Water, while the village [town] centre, with its Georgian High Street, offers a range of shops, services, traffic-free precincts and parking facilities. Nearby is ‘Hythe Marina’, to be found on Southampton Water's southern shore; it’s a unique development of a 206 berth marina, together with waterside homes, shops, restaurants, bars and a boutique hotel. There is also a passenger ferry which sails back-and-forth from Hythe Pier to the City of Southampton every 30 minutes. Before Hythe Pier was built, ferry and other boats arriving at Hythe had to use a gravel hard ramp which ran from the land out to the low tide point in Southampton Water. Walking along the hard gravel was not easy and travellers often got very wet. Various ideas to improve the situation were suggested at the time and construction of Hythe Pier was eventually started in October 1879 and officially opened on the 1st January 1881.  Many World War II heroes departed from this pier on D-Day in June 1944.The pier itself stretches some 640 meters into Southampton Water and is one of the ten longest piers in the British Isles. In 1922, a narrow gauge electric railway opened in order to take passengers the full length of the Pier. This railway, with its original engine and rolling stock, is the oldest operating electric pier train in the world and is still operational to this day – playing an important part in the local transportation system between Hythe and Southampton.

Bleriot XI Britannia Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Bleriot XI by Wings42 in the colors of Bleriot XI-2 Britannia. The third Bleriot XI imported into New Zealand, it was a two seater presented by the Imperial Air Fleet committee to the New Zealand government. The committee's aim was to promote the development of aviation in the British empire, and the presentation was intended to stimulate military aviation in New Zealand. The aircraft was a proven one, having been flown 347km non-stop from Dover to Cologne by Gustav Hamel in 4 hours 18 minutes on April 17, 1913. The aircraft was dubbed "Britannia' at a ceremony at Hendon on May 22, and Hamel then took former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir Joseph Ward for a short flight. The committee was composed primarily of London businessmen and Sir Joseph was the deputy-Chairman. The aircraft was paid for by public subscription and was valued for insurance purposes at 1400 pounds. The aircraft was disassembled and shipped to New Zealand aboard the Athenic. The aircraft arrived in Wellington on September 29, 1913, where it was discovered that the propeller was not in the shipment. This was soon shipped to New Zealand. In the meantime the aircraft was stored in a purpose built shed at the Buckle street Defence stores. In late 1913 Joseph 'Joe' Hammond had been appointed official Government pilot. Mr Hammond suggested flying the aircraft to Auckland for display at an Exhibition. However the aircraft was railed north and was assembled in Auckland on January 14, 1914. On January 17, 1914 Mr Hammond made his first flight in the aircraft from the Epsom showgrounds. The following day he completed an hour long flight over Auckland at low level. A flight on the 19th with a journalist as passenger was aborted during takeoff when Hammond found he had no rudder control. Repairs were made and the aircraft flown again on January 24th. Another flight with a passenger then took place. Rather than a member of the media or any of the officials present Hammond chose to take Miss Esme McLalland as passenger. Miss McLalland was a member of the touring Royal Pantomime Company which was performing in Auckland, and the choice failed to impress the officials - Joe Hammonds employment as official pilot was terminated. The aircraft remained on static display for the remainder of the Exhibition and was returned to Wellington at the end of April 1914. Without a pilot (there were several Army Officers training in England - 2nd Lt. A. Piper and 2nd Lt. W. Burn) any official role for the aircraft (and officials did not seem to know what to do with it), it was placed in storage at the Mt Cook barracks in Wellington. Soon after, a report by General Hamilton, the Imperial Inspector of Overseas Forces discouraged further aviation development. With the outbreak of war an offer was made to send the aircraft with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. It was shipped back to England, departing on the Arawa on October 16. It was unloaded in London on January 15, 1915 and and went from there to Brooklands where it is believed to have been used as a trainer. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom

B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The B-2A Stealth Bomber is the most sophisticated aircraft on the planet. She is essentially a “Flying Wing” platform with no V-Tail, and is controlled by pre-programed flight computers stationed in various positions within the crew cabin and wings. There is one main computer that controls the aircraft, with two redundant back-up computers assigned to it in case of failure. All additional computers are assigned to functions involving flight control, system monitoring, data communications, and radar. Engine and Aerodynamic effects are controlled by these computers which serve several actuators and ailerons, including the spoilerons, which further compensate for the lack of a V-Tail. In theory, and because of these computers, the aircraft is “Stall-Proof”. The only way it can stall is if the computers fail. There is no way she can be flown without the computers active. The REAL aircraft does almost everything based on pre-programed data, other than taxi to the runway (although this is also possible to program). Before each flight, the Mission is designed and then assigned to the Mission Flight Box (Portable Computer) which is then carried by the Commander to the aircraft, and the data from the box is “transferred” to the main on-board computers. Because of this, the B-2 cannot be flown until the box is ready for the mission, and pilots cannot simply jump in and fly her, with the exception that the data is transferred via satellite. Everything is pre-planned, and this takes several hours. Once the data is on-board, the taxi can begin. When lined-up on the runway, all the pilot needs to do is push a button or three. Everything else is computer controlled until landing. The aircraft CAN be flown manually with basic data inputs into the main computer systems, but even in that case it is not conventional. If a pilot wants to turn right, he sets the data to turn to a certain degrees of heading. The same with climb and descent, speed increase or decrease. A pilot cannot over-ride the computers in any case, so steep banks, climbs, or descents cannot be forced. There is a lot of space for the two member crew within the cockpit, but there is also a space reserved for one observer. This additional seat is known as “Suicide Position” because there is no ejection seat for that observer. In the event of a mishap, the observer can try to bail-out through the ejection hatches after the pilots, or can try the exit ramp door, or the bomb bay as an exit route. The odds of escape for the observer are very small, but he has a parachute as reassurance. Otherwise, what the crew does during missions is only a guess, since they really don't have to do anything unless an alarm goes off. Since the plane flies so smooth, we can only imagine what sort of things they may dream-up to entertain themselves during a long flight. High altitude flights are conducted at night mainly due to the obvious contrail such a flight will exhibit during the day with such hot engines. The engines are encased in a heat absorbing shield material (still exhaust exists), and the rest of the plane is coated with Radar absorbant material, with the additional low profile effect of the aircraft design itself. If it can be seen by the ground or a fighter, it can be attacked by fighters or the ground. During daytime flight they will stay below the contrail level, and monitor the radar systems in preparations for counter-measures. If a fighter can visually observe them, the fighter may be able to shoot them down with bullets from behind, but not likely with missiles because of the sophisticated counter-measures available. On Radar the aircraft appears the size of a pigeon, until about 8 to 10 miles away, which would be too late to counter from the ground, so most attacks are either done at night or during the day at very low altitude. Upon landing the aircraft is automated down to about 200 feet AGL, when the pilot takes command. All she/he does at this point is allow her to glide down and contact the runway, and retard the engines. Brakes are used to slow, then the computers are turned off, and the pilot can control the throttles, nose gear, and brakes. The Commander watches for obstructions, mainly, and communicates with the tower and ground crew. Everything in this model has been reconfigured to meet realistic standards, without any tricks or flight tuning, and following real world aerodynamic principals and available data, including MOI. The panel requires study before use, but very realistic. The sounds are very authentic. There is no other model offered anywhere that compares to what you have now available in front of you. Please read and study the Readme.txt file within the main folder before attempting to fly this 2.2 Billion Dollar aircraft. Yes, that's correct ... $2,200,000,000 each! The use of this model, and the configuration of such, is designed for educational purposes, and protected by the Free Use Act: (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/107).
