File Description:
This terrain mesh file is a part of a whole project covering all the Continent of South America and some islands, divided in tiles identified in a map by its column (letters) and rows (numbers). Those files were multi-LOD compiled from 90m SRTM2 source data, reprocessed with 3DEM to remove voids and spikes, providing a 76.4m (LOD9) horizontal resolution topography intended for use only in FSX updated with SP1.
Although not well documented, to improve performance, the updated FSX loads DEM files in threads and only the closer terrain (about 5 NM from the point of view) is rendered in high detail, while at far distances FSX shows up its default low resolution mesh, when there is not a third part terrain mesh compiled in all others intermediate level of details (multi-LOD).

TOPCAT is an acronym for Take-Off and Landing Performance Calculation Tool. It's a highly realistic, easy-to-use planning tool for all serious flight simulator enthusiasts. It brings into a single application all of the calculations required to plan for safe and repeatable take-offs and landings including de-rated thrust and assumed temperature calculation. Currently the follwing airplane types are available in TOPCAT (more to come): Boeing 747-400, Boeing 747-400 Freighter, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767-300, Boeing 767-300 ER, Boeing 767-300 Freighter and the Airbus A320-214. Tips and Tricks Number 20 - March 2006 Edition. This issue includes a few Tips that may help solve a couple of common problems as well as several links to very interesting and useful sites. Included is the popular "From the E-Mail Bag" department which answers a question of general interest. New in this issue is a section devoted to an aircraft of historical interest. There is also a Tip which will lead you to some really exceptional AI work. An updated index by John Burford for the entire series in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format is included. Finally, VFR/CVFR pilots are able to enjoy the tall peaks of the Hermon mountain, the Golan heights and the ravines of the Western slopes of the Carmel mountains, the road to Jerusalem and the sub-sea level features of the Sea of Galilee and the famous Dead Sea.
The Negev Desert can finally show off its fascinating topography which includes, among others, the Small Crater and Ramon Crater whose features are clearly visible from space. There are many canyons, ravines, dry streams and other dramatic ground landscapes which can make a Negev Dessert VFR Expedition quite exciting. The trip could end at Eilat. Now you can see this well known touristic resort, bordered on the West and East by the tall and rugged mountains which have been among its more typical features.

This "freezes" all lakes and rivers for winter flying and means they can be landed on with skis or wheels; it is meant for low level flying rather than high level jet flights. This edition is complete in itself and now really covers all of Canada and parts of the USA along the border, including large parts of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. It is reversible with an "untick" in the FS scenery library. The revision is the addition of frozen sea in the area of Baffin Island (where I and Sid & Pete have recently posted all of the Baffin Island airfields) as I missed this area last time. Sorry about that. I have spent some time making sure that the sea and the inlets along the coast in the south do not get frozen too, and also some of the lakes that are close to the coast and rarely get cold enough to freeze over. The Great Lakes do not usually totally freeze, but this is an either ON or OFF modification and partial freezing cannot be convincingly simulated, so I went for total ice. Along the north shore I went for the peak of the winter with sea ice all the way to the permanent polar cap; this is not totally realistic as there is usually a partially open lead along the coast, but as with the Great Lakes...... It will work without Ultimate Terrain, but as UT is what gets all the lakes and rivers there and in the right place (except in the far north) it is obviously much improved with UT. The pics show Rockcliffe in the winter with the frozen Ottawa River for real and in FS for comparison; without UT the river would not be in the right place.

| Patch 1 for MAAM-SIM D-Day C-47 'Skytrain' and Dakota Mk III Expansion Pack |

File Description:
This is a small fix that corrects a problem in the two FS2004 RAF Dakotas as originally uploaded, as well as the 6th Edition of the R4D/DC-3/C-47 CD. These two planes got FS8 air files in error and this self-installer will substitute the correct FS9 ones. If you prefer to do it yourself, simply copy and paste one of the American C-47's air files into the two British planes. This patch is not required for downloads after June 9, 2005, nor for the CD 7th Edition and later, as they have been patched.

You are the chief pilot of the South African Air Force Caravan 41 Squadron, based on
AFB Swartkops in Pretoria. You have been given the task by the Chief of the Air Force (CAF) to assist in a public relations exercise with the US Navy, who have an aircraft carrier docked just outside Saldanha Bay in the Western Cape, South Africa. The admiral on board with a few high ranking officers are to be entertained during their visit at Naval Base Saldanha. You are cleared to fly to AFB Langebaanweg and plan a VFR flight to show off our beautiful Western Cape country side, you are cleared to fly at any altitude you feel necessary. After consulting with the local pilots on the base you have planned the following low level route, over 2 days, which was approved by the CAF.

File Description:
Chena Marina AK28 is a float plane "pond" close to and southwest of Fairbanks International Airport, with a gravel strip alongside the water; the "strip" is actually a gravel road that functions as a runway when required. Or maybe it's a runway that functions as a road? Though it doesn't come close to the activity level of Lake Hood in Anchorage Alaska it is still a fairly busy place, and in fact Fairbanks is a hub of summer floatplane activity with a water runway at the International Airport and another "pond" known as Metro Field that is between Fairbanks and the river, plus a base on the Chena River. In this download there is a scenery folder, land-class folders, an AFCAD folder, and a "Traffic" folder, and you will definitely need Ultimate Terrain Alaska Canada.
