Based on the equally impressive paint kit by Dag Roger Stageland we tried to recreate
37+38 of JG73 as it looked in or around 1996, on TDY to Goose Bay, Canada.

Painted for the 60th anniversary of the first flight across the atlantic, this stunningly-painted aircraft flew to the International Air Tatto at Greenham Common from Goose Bay in Canada. The RAF found a crew, by the names of Alcock & Browne (the original crew were Alcock & Brown - no e) to fly the trip. You will need nmai_f-4m_raf_traffic.zip from avsim.com to use these textures. Whaletown is a float base serving a village on Cortes Island, another one of the many islands squeezed between Vancouver Island and the mainland at this northern end. At this island passengers are delivered by amphibious Grumman Goose from Port Hardy, the main airport of the northern half of Vancouver Island with daily scheduled flights onward to and from Vancouver International. The AI was included with the post of Port Hardy. Regretably, the amphibious Goose behaves as if it is on land and moves on the water with it's wheels extended; there is no way around this. This scenery is a modification of a post made some years ago that did not support AI. In my FS9, close to Whaletown, there was an FS9 or Ultimate Terrain fault consisting of a long straight beach sticking out into the sea for a few thousand feet. This scenery now deletes that.

File Description:
Goose Bay Canadian Forces Base and US Air Base (CYYR), Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, 1955-62. Originally built to facilitate the transport of US aircraft to Europe during the Second World War, during the Cold War Goose Bay was a base of major importance. Like nearby Gander it was a vital refuelling point for transatlantic crossings, but also along with the recently released Ernest Harmon Air Base (CYJT) an important part of the defences against the threat of Soviet bombers carrying muclear weapons attacking the USA via the North Pole. F-89 Scorpions and then F-102 Delta Daggers were based there, and this download includes F-89s especially made for this scenery by David Wooster. Flight plans are provided for 1955, 1957, 1959 and 1962, doing much to recreate this significant Cold War base as it really was; many of the aircraft which passed through Goose at that time are provided for.
This file is an update to the scenery issued in October 2021, made necessary by the discovery of new information as a result of further historical research. There have also been changes to the ADE and traffic files intended to improve the performance of both, and to the navaids too. Instructions are included for those installing from scratch and those updating our previous version, and there have been improvements to the clarity of the instructions for the downloading and installation of the ai aircraft.
There will be no further updates.

This livery represents the current RNLAF 313 Sqn Tiger Tail J-055 F-16AM based at Volkel AB, The Netherlands. The tiger tail has been designed for the 2010 NATO Tiger Meet edition, hosted by the same squadron, at Volkel. This is the final version (V2) and replaces my previous livery (F-16AM_KLu_NATO_Tiger_Meet_2010). The tail has been corrected as well as the aircraft serial number. You need the excellent payware Aerosoft F-16 for FSX in order to use this repaint. Enjoy!
