SAAB 35XD Draken RDAF AR-116 Download

File Description:
FS2004 SAAB 35XD Draken RDAF AR-116 This package contains textures only in Danish green paint scheme livery, for FS2004 Saab J 35J Draken 2.41 full package by Thomas Nilsson/Bookmark Digital Graphics. You will need the model j35j241.zip which can be found at AVSIM. SAAB 35XD Draken for Flight Simulator 2004 \nVersion 2.41 2006-03-20 \n© 2006 Thomas Nilsson/Bookmark Digital Graphics\The Saab 35 Draken is a supersonic interceptor using a double delta wing. The first prototype of this aircraft flew late in 1955, entering production in 1957. The aircraft is a single-seat, single-engine configuration equipped with 30mm cannons and air-to-air Sidewinder missiles. It can operate from small airfields due to its high thrust-to-weight ratio and the fitment of a parachute to assist with braking. In all, over 600 Drakens were built, the last example taking to the air 1972. For Denmark the Saab 35XD was developed. Based on the J 35F but was upgraded with more internal fuel, stronger gear, arrester hook, improved avionics and cockpit layout, new weapon pylons which resulted in redesigned outer wings. Three versions were built from the Saab 35XD variant: Here a single seat fighter repainted in the liverie of "AR-116" Esk.729.

Lockheed L-749 Constellation Base Pack Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Dimensionally identical to the first-generation Constellation (L-049), the post-war 749 had more powerful engines, additional fuel tanks, strengthened landing gear, and much improved performance. Equally good for shuttle hops and long-range flights, L-749 Connies entered service with major 1950s carriers such as Eastern, TWA, B.O.A.C., Air France, KLM, Quantas, and many others. Another customer was the Air Force, which placed an order for ten aircraft (designated C-121A) in 1948.

Included in this sim package are seven models and five textures, covering variants with and without "Speedpak" cargo pannier, weather radar, and "jetstack" exhausts. KLM texture by Jaap de Baare (representing "Flevoland", the last 749 in flying condition today). TWA texture N6003C "Star of America" by Hans Herrmann. EAL, Air France, and MATS textures by Manfred Jahn (including "8609", a frequent visitor to airshows all over the world until 2005). Panel textures and additional gauges by Diego S. Barreto, model and VC by Manfred Jahn, panels, gauges, and animations by Hansjoerg Naegele, flight dynamics by Luis Pallas, wingview angles, lights, and exhaust effects by Bill Tyne and Roland Berger, checklist and documentation by Volker Boehme, flight test and handling research by Stefan Werner. The 749 project has been hosted by Tom Gibson's Calclassic forum at http://calclassic.proboards55.com.

Spruce Goose for X-Plane 6.4/6.51 (hk-1/H-4 Hercules) Download

File Description:
Spruce Goose v1.0 for X-Plane copyright (c) by Robert App, January 2003. History of the "Goose" - Officially designated the HK-1 (this project started out as a join venture between Hughes Aircraft and Kaiser) and later designated the H-4 Hercules after Kaiser was unable to work with Howard. It was and still remains the largest (physical dimensions wingspan and length) aircraft ever built, with the largest radial engines ever built by the West (28 cylinder, 3000 HP). The plane had to be constructed mainly of wood due to the shortage of strategic metals caused by WWII. The plane became known as the "Spruce Goose" or "Flying Lumberyard" despite the fact that the wood frame and skin were constructed mainly of laminated poplar; it also involved "sandwich" construction. The plane was flown briefly on a trial taxiing run but Hughes never allowed the plane to be flown again. Speculation has always been rampant that the design was flawed and the plane could not have met the original specification requirements. The X-Plane model is as accurate as is possible with limited plans available to me. The main wing is an X-Plane standard symmetrical high lift airfoil as opposed to the high lift asymmetrical foil section used in the actual plane. The main wing angle of attack has been adjusted to emulate the asymmetrical foil as closely as possible. Flight Testing the Goose - I have spent many hours testing the plane on X-Plane which with few exceptions provides a very accurate flight model. The published landing speed (79 mph) pretty well verifies the takeoff speed of 52 to 55 knots (k/hr x 1.15 (approx.) = mph). In straight flight the plane is difficult to stall since the nose quickly drops and increases speed if a stall develops with a significant loss of altitude. The plane has a range on 14000 gallons of fuel and takeoff weight of 350,000 Lbs of well over 3000 nautical miles. San Diego to Wake Island via Midway Attol is a piece of cake with lots of fuel to spare at 350,000 lb GW. The plane is flyable at a GW of over 410,000 lb but climb rate is very sluggish (max 400-600 fpm) and loss of speed due to excessive side slip can cause a fatal stall, in straight flight the plane is difficult to stall. So far my conclusion is that with todays materials and jet engines (which may be a future project) this aircraft could probably be competitive in performance with todays planes. With aluminum alloys that were available during its construction its performance would probably have exceeded the initial requirements.

Republic P-47D-20 365th FG (B4-W) "Mortician's Delight" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-5-RE 42-8438 B4-W "Morticians Delight", one of the P-47's flown by Lt Neal Worley of the 387th FS/ 365th FG. Lt. Worley's first two P-47's were called 'Kansas Jack', referring to his Emporia, Kansas upbringing, but he did not feel like naming his third aircraft. His crew came up with 'Morticians Delight', and Worley himself painted the picture on the engine cowling. In 127 missions, he crashed 5 Thunderbolts. His coolness under pressure was immortilized on July 26th, 1944. A 20 mm shell hit his right wheel well during an attack on Sauveur Lendelin, jamming the wheel. He discovered that only the left wheel would lower, but would not retract, so bellying in was no longer an option. He circled for over an hour, burning fuel, and then landed on only the left gear, easing the fighter down. When the right wing dipped just enough, he hit the left brake, and the P-47 spun to a stop. His landing was captured on film, and used in the movie "Fighter Squadron". The aircraft was repaired, and flew missions the very next day, as a testament to the ruggedness of the Thunderbolt. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Martin Catney.

Blairstown Airport (1N7), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 02 miles SW of Blairstown, New Jersey on 151 acres of land, Blairstown Airport is privately owned by J.D. Air Inc. and is home to a moderate number of small GA planes and gliders. This scenery is not completely up to date, as the MegaScenery Earth textures themselves are outdated. Missing are the added taxiway/parking lot north of the existing north taxiway as well as the second hangar area to the north that it leads to. Parking is available on the south tarmac but if that's all taken there is room just to the west in the taxiway offshoot. Also room on the grass, although stay south of the windsock to avoid interfering with glider operations. Glider pilots that wish to start on the grass, select either Runway East or Runway West. Fuel is available by stopping near the gas tank on the south tarmac. Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview, the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New York 007. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

CYSM - Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Fort Smith is just north of the border between Alberta and Northwestern Territories, midway between Lake Athabasca to the southeast in (mostly) Saskatchewan (80 miles) and Great Slave Lake to the north west (90 miles). The runways all used to be larger, and while I don't know the history it looks as if it is ex-military and these are the remains of what were once 10,000 feet of asphalt. The main runway is now 11/29 and 6,000 feet long, and the secondary one is 1,800 feet of mostly gravel. There is an airline based at the field, Northwestern Air, and fuel (both 100LL and JA-1) is available at a self service point so long as you give it a credit card to read while you fill. The town of Fort Smith is two miles east of the airfield, on the bank of the Slave River and where there are some rapids that require a portage to get around them. Before aviation came along the river was a major route to the north and all those furry animals, which was why the Hudson's Bay Company established an outpost there in 1872. Today it has a population of 2,400 and the main activities are government administration of much of the Northwest Territories, education, and tourism.

NZGA- Galatea Aerodrome (VectorLandClass, New Zealand) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Welcome to Galatea (ICAO: NZGA), a gateway to exploring the Urewera ranges and the east coast of New Zealand. Galatea is a small and basic airstrip with only one old hanger, a public toilet and a small clubhouse on a wide plain surrounded by native bush and pine plantation near Murupara in the Bay of Plenty of New Zealand. It is a grass strip of 1025m length and 60m width and aligned 01/19 with a group rating of 8. No night lighting or fuel is available. The FSX model includes custom textures and models placed on an aerial image. It makes extensive use of items from the free VLC object libraries which are required to be installed (download from www.vectorlandclass.co.nz downloads menu). This scenery and the VLC libraries have been funded by sales of VectorLandClass and although you do not need VLC to use it, your purchase helps further development. To the south west of Murupara township and sawmill is the LakeLand Helicopters base which just fits onto the photo-real coverage. Library objects have been placed here although they may not be accurate as the site was not visited when taking reference photos. This airfield makes a great stop over when flying between Rotorua, Mount Tarawera, Whakatane or Gisborne. We hope you enjoy exploring the area!
