PA-MD-VA Series, Sound For All 39 Airports

File Description:
This upload provides sound for all 39 of the airports in the PA-MD-VA series using Lago's FS SoundScape program. These really up the realism level as that dead silence at airports is just so unnatural. Sounds that play are dependent on the time of day, season,and proximity to the area they are eminating from but Ive tried to balance everything out so that there arent any dead spots and also to make sure the proper amplitude of the sound is played. For instance, if youre in the cockpit the sounds will be muted cuz the doors and windows are shut tight. Step outside in an external view and the sound level increases. Move your viewpoint away from a group of trees that has birds in it and the sound level slowly decreases. Pretty cool stuff I think.... Lago's FSSoundScape required. Eastern Airlines B757-225 (circa 1983) IFDG v2

File Description:
This is a repaint of an Eastern Airlines B757 in delivery colors. Eastern originally had its 757s delivered in this variant of its livery to mark the launch of a new type of aircraft, one that revolutionized the aircraft industry. As the years progressed Eastern slowly began repainting its 757 fleet into standard livery and a few even kept the thin cheatline appearance but had a regular tail cheat line used instead of the bold 757 typeface. This is N510EA and was in service with Eastern until its bankruptcy in January 1991. This plane is dedicated to the men and women of Eastern Airlines and to the virtual pilots of Virtual Eastern Airlines (join now at www.eastern-va.com) These are texture files only, my previous upload N524EA.zip has the complete model, simply add this texture folder and overwrite the aircraft.cfg file with the one included and both aircraft will show up on your FS list.

Franks Updated Scenery Items - Part 1

File Description:
These files contain GMAX designed scenery items for use in FS2004 utilizing the new FS2004 BGLComp SDK. The true inspiration for these designs comes from Frank Betts over at Franks Hangar (http://www.flightsimsetc.dhs.org/) who originally designed these items as macros for use with Airport and FSSC programs. Frank was gracious enough to allow me to redesign them in GMAX for use in FS2004 and beyond. While I may have taken some 'artistic license' on a few items, they are basically identical to those designed by Frank. Most use the identical textures designed with Franks macros, but a few additional custom textures were added. All files also contain the original GMAX source files, so if you feel the need to alter or improve the fies, please feel free to do so. All I ask is that you share your improvements with the FS world as freeware. This is Part 1 of a series of files that will eventually update all of Franks macros to GMAX files.

File Description: Tips and Tricks - 24 - The FINAL issue. Issue number 24 officially brings to an end the Tips and Tricks for FS2004 series. This issue is packed with some useful tips and how-to's, valuable web-site links and much, much more. The "From the E-mail bag" segment explores several ways to recover disk space and there is a special interview with a prolific author of FS scenery. You will also find a Bonus File which will make the startup of a reviewed aircraft considerably easier. Look for a special Holiday recommendation (for kids of all ages). I have even thrown in a bit of Aviation humor. An updated index for the entire series (by John Burford) is also included. Hopefully you will find something of use, be you a "newbie" or a long time simmer. Please unzip (using folders option) to a temporary folder. Beaver DHC-2 Avionics Upgrade for the 2D and VC Panels

File Description:
Having spent significant amounts of time flying in the less-hospitable territories in the FS world such as Alaska and the Canadian Northern Territories, I've grown fond of the more rugged and capable aircraft which operate in these areas. The DHC-2 is the workhorse of the North. Granted, modern times have introduced aircraft with turbo-powered airframes and all sorts of electronic gadgetry to enhance airborne capabilities, but I cannot think of a single plane flying in these areas today which could fly safely with zero batteries and fuel. The DHC-2 is a rock, and it was for this reason that I found it both fit and suitable to upgrade the already-included Bendix/King suite with a 2-axis autopilot, a fuel burn status gauge (worth its weight in gold in Alaska and Canada), and a red-light nighttime digital OAT gauge. REQUIRES THE AEROSOFT BEAVER DHC-2 FOR FS2004/FS9.

Canadian and Northern USA Winter Flying

File Description:
This is an expanded version of a previous post a year ago, and stretches from east of Quebec City through Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba, and now also through Saskatchewan, and into Alberta (past Calgary). There is also a northern area roughly centered on Hudson Bay. The exact coverages are given in the notes. All rivers and lakes within the area will "freeze" and allow ski planes to land, or even wheeled planes come to that. And it is not permanent, when you want to go back to floats just "untick" it in the FS library, and it will melt. The area covered crosses into the US too, down to around 45 degrees north, so that means most of Montana, all of North Dakota, half of Minnesota, and some of Wisconsin, Michigan etc. It seemed silly to stop at the border. Ultimate Terrain is highly recommended, so that there will actually be the right lakes and rivers ready to freeze.

DA Fokker 70 Panel Controller

File Description:
After flying the DA Fokker 70 and 100 for a while, I realised that not all FS pilots would have access to a programmable joystick that would enable them to assign a button to operate the various pop-up panels in the Fokker, so I thought that a gauge mounted on the flight panel that centralised the controls for the pop-up windows may be a handy addition. After adding the gauge you will be able to access the following pop-up panels using the mouse from one centralised position on both the Pilot Flying and First Officer the panels. From left to right the pop-up panels are as follows.. Upper Row Overhead Upper, Overhead Lower, Pedestal Forward. Pedestal Middle and Pedestal Rear... Lower Row Radio Stack, CDU, Doors and Ground Power, Secondary Annunciator Panel, Enlarged Left Hand MFDU Also included are instructions on how to add the Groundhandling gauge by Rob Barendregt to the Doors and Ground Power panel of the Fokker.

RwyInfo 2 Data Update

File Description:
The purpose of this download is to allow you to update the data used by Ernie Alston's Runway Info gauge (RwyInfo version 2.0, available from http://www.fsbuild.com/rwyinfo/). This is an excellent little gauge that allows you to retrieve, through a gauge on your panel, information for all the runways at an airport (selected by ICAO code), and optionally automatically load frequency and course for an ILS into your NAV1 radio and MCP. However the usefulness of the gauge is somewhat restricted by the fact that it comes with a text database of 'info' to be displayed, and does not include any method for updating this info, other than by going into the text file and typing changes yourself (carefully, character by character). This is not really a practical method of getting the data to match your current FS configuration. What I have done is created a little utility that will create a new text database for the RwyInfo 2 gauge, based on your current scenery configuration.

Bella Coola Valley Landscape Enhancements

File Description:
One of the most spectacular watersheds of British Columbia's Midcoast, the Bella Coola Valley looks pretty boring in its default FSX rendition and the oddly shaped default Bella Coola River cuts deep into the terrain. These files provide a terrain mesh made from CDED1 0.75-arcsec data (multi-LOD, with maximum resolution of 38-m grid spacing), updated land class, water class, and seasons files, and accurate placements of lakes, rivers, streams, roads, and bridges. Also added are the glaciers of the Monarch Mountain Icefield as well as several forestry roads and clearcuts in the side valleys. Main roads have vehicle traffic moving in both directions. Coverage area is N51*45'-52*40' and W125*35'-127*25'. These files are fully compatible with other landscape enhancements for FSX, such as FS Genesis North America terrain mesh, Cloud 9's X-class, Adam Mill's ground texture replacements, or Flight1's Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska.

French Air Force Fouga Magister EAM 09.102 Dijon 1994

File Description:
A repaint of the magnificent freeware Fouga Magister by A. Chancel, J-P Langer, J-P Bourgeois, B. Dube and M. Hardouin which can be downloaded from http://restauravia.com. The aircraft is a true "must" for any FS addict and comes complete with a thorough documentation both in French and in English. This is yet another Dijon aircraft; it is depicted this time near the end of its service life, as flown by EAM 09.102 - as the Communication Flight of BA 102 was then named - during 1994. The fuselage roundels no longer have their usual yellow outer rings, service markings are rather derelict, and despite the painter's efforts the aircraft still shows signs of its earlier assignment with GE 315 in Cognac. Two sets of textures are included featuring two different levels of shine, so you can install whichever you prefer according to your own taste. An alternative layout for the rear 2D panel is provided too. See detailed instructions in the ReadMe.txt.
