File Description:
A repaint for the Aerosoft PBY-5a Catalina in the colors of PBY-5a #20 (BuNo 7277) of VB-126 as it looked during a rescue operation on the Greenland ice cap in 1943. On 5 november 1942, a C-53 en route from Iceland to Greenland was reported missing off Greenland's east coast. Four days later, a B-17F, en route for England was aked to to keep a lookout for the missing plane, but it crashed on the ice cap. The crew of suffered only minor injuries, and they soon received food and other supplies that were dropped on the ice. Unfortunately, they had landed in a heavily crevassed part of the icecap, making an evacuation difficult. On 28 november, a USCG Grumman Duck, flown by Lt Pritchard, managed to make a wheels-up landing on the ice and brought out two of the crew. The next day, a ground rescue team arrived on the dite as well, and things looked good.... One crew member and a rescuer died when their sled disappeared in a crevasse, and later the same day, Lt. Pritchard's Duck disappeared as well, with a crew of three. On 6 december, an attempt was made to evacuate the B-17's navigator, Lt. O'Hara, who suffered from gangrene in his feet. One member is the rescue party fell into an crevasse, and the motorsled they were using broke down, so the men had to dig in and wait for help. The days continued until over christmas, but morale was kept high with airdrops whenever the weather permitted. A rescue by sled became impossible however due to bad conditions and heavy snows. Lt.Col Balchen, who had used a PBY the previous summer to rescue the members of the B-17 'My Gal Sal' (currently under restoration in Ohio) of the ice, and was now in charge of the rescue operation, proposed to try the same here. The last summer, the PBY landed on a melt water lake on the icecap however, this time he wanted to belly land the PBY, and nobody knew if the hull could withstand such a battering. In the meantime, a ski-equipped T8P1 aircraft tried the same, but dispappeared over the east coast. The crew members were found five days later in a rubber dinghy. The Navy finally gave permission to try an attempt with the PBY. and two PBY-5a"s were send to airfield BW-8, to wait for the right weather. On 5 febuary 1943, Lt Bernard Dunlop succesfully bellylanded BuNo 7277 / 20 (the above paintjob) at the motorsled camp, and the three survivors were taken on board. It has frozen solid in the ice, but after two hours of hard labor, the crew managed to free the PBY and it took off. Now only the three crew members still at the original site needed to be rescued. A ground rescue party was sent to the wreck to transport the survivors to a spot where the PBY could land, but bad weather prevented any flying until 17 march. On that day, Lt. Dunlop landed on the ice, dropping off Lt.Col Balchen and the rescue party, who reached the wreck the following day. The weather closed in again until finally, on april 5th, Lt Dunlop landed his PBY for the third time on the ice cap. All hands were taken on board, but after five attempts to take off, the starboard engine caught fire. The blaze was extinguished, but repairs were necessary. The next day, they managed to take off, but without the rescue party, to lighten the load. 149 days after their crash, the B-17 crew was finally clear of the ice. It wasn't until 18 may that the last member of the rescue party was finally evacuated, making this a six and a half month rescue operation... Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Aerosoft

Northrop F-5B Freedom Fighter Hellenic Air Force Download

File Description:
This is a superb aircraft I used to fly as a Hellenic Air Force pilot. This repaint is presenting an F-5B Freedom Fighter as it used to fly with 343rd Squadron of Hellenic Air Force, during the '90ties. The F-5 Freedom Fighter was a very succesfull aircraft during its 30 year carrer in HAF as a fighter, bomber, multy role aircraft until the early months 2001 when finaly released by active duty. The project is fully combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions. It is based on a very realistic FS model, with realistic features, made by FSD International. The package contains realistic sounds made by Mr. Angelos Hatzikatakos. A new, based on real photos and diagrams 2D panel, was made by Nick Karatzides who also modified (for FS purposes) the official checklist by Northrop. A VERY completed flight manual (60 pages) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat is included. The panel (combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions) uses plenty of realistic gauges to simulate the real F-5's cockpit. The HUD gauge is made by Mr. Eric Marciano, afterburner flame effects by Mr. Jan Rosenberg and fuel jettison gauge by Mr. Doug Dawson. This "F5B_HAF1.zip" package is for EXPERIENCED FlightSimers and virtual pilots who have a "good feeling" on the controls and do not "kick" the contol stick while flying...It is for people who want to know how it looks to fly with a modern fighter. The package contains visual effects, night lighting, fine looking mechanical parts movement, contrails, realistic gears extracting / retracting etc. Instructions for both FS2K2 and FS9 versions are included.

File Description:
This folder contains a second repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang, in the colors of P-51D 44-14799 YF-H "Susan B III", the aircraft flown by Lt. Clarence H Kouche of the 358th FS/ 355th FG, based in Steeple Morden, UK. The aircraft survived the war, but was damaged beyond repair in a landing incident in september 1945. The original Susan B was a P-51B that was also damaged during a landing incident, Susan B 2 was a P-51D that ran out of fuel, with the pilot, a Lt Fees, bailing out over the UK. Lt Couche continued in the USAF after the war, and died on his 89th birthday in 2008. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

North American P-51D 339th FG (D7-C) "Whoa! To Joe’s Woes" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang, in the colors of P-51D 44-14890 D7-C/ “Whoa! To Joe’s Woes”, the assigned aircraft of Capt. Joseph G Farrell, Brooklyn NY of the 503rd FS, 339th FG. This a/c was crash-landed on 24 March 1945 by Lt. William R Preddy, some twenty-four days before he was killed in action. The strange nickname on this P-51 has nothing to do with Capt. Farrell being named Joseph but rather a reference to the Russian Dictator Joseph Stalin who was constantly bemoaning the lack of a second front by the allies. D-Day of course put an end to “Joe’s Woes”. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

St Andre-Avellin CAA2 in Quebec Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
St Andre-Avellin is a new airfield in Quebec Canada, 35 miles east of Ottawa and 10 miles north of the Ottawa River, and just northwest of the village of the same name. There is a 03/21 grass runway that is 2,870 feet long and slopes up towards the north. To show this slope I have not "placed" a grass runway (which would immediately flatten the slope) and anway there is not so much traffic that the grass would be notably marked. Because of the lack of an FS-recognised runway I have not made parking or a traffic file as AI would not work; anyway this airfield with constant activity would not reflect reality. There are no facilities at the airfield except a hangar for the owner and space to park.

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Lockheed P-38 by Flight Simulations Design (FSD), in the colors of P-38J-10-LO 42-67451 'the Flying Dutchman', the aircraft flown by Lt William G.'Dutch' Schultz from Holdenville, Oklahoma. He joined the 55th FS/20th FG on 27 february 1944 until he was killed in action on 1 may 1944, shot down by flak near le Culot, France. The aircraft had flown 82 missions without an abort, a record for the 20th FG at that moment. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom. Please note that I have changed the texture size from 4096x4096 to 2048x2048, for the main textures, the spec files and the bump maps, which are all included. This should give better frame rates I hope.

ASA-Delta Connection ERJ-145-XR Download

File Description:
FS2002/2004 ASA-Delta Connection ERJ-145-XR This is a complete repiant of Nick Botamer's Model. Continental Express was the Launch Airline for this version of the ERJ. No Delta connection carrier that I am aware of flys this model, only the standard versions, but seeing it in the Delta "wavey gravey" livery and considering its performance, who knows, maybe ASA/Delta will try a few of these planes out.And just in case they do,we now have it for the FS Community. Tested in FS2002pro only, but the fs2004 update is available. Please use Bill Grabowski’s excellent ERJ panel. Textures are now DXT3 with a custom Alpha. No Mips. Add on for the Microsoft EAA Air Venture Scenery Package Download

File Description:
The new EAA Airventure scenery that Microsoft released is a spectacular add on for FS 2002 but I felt it needed a little more "Eye Candy". I have added in new taxiways (the new photorealistic ones looked lousey from the ground) and a small represntation of the aircraft found on display. Also microsoft neglected a large part of Airventure... the Sea Plane base southeast of the field on Lake Winnabago. I have enhanced this area with static float planes, 2 docks and a small cabin. For those users with Lago Scenery Enhancer, more detail has been added including people in various places around the scenery and more trees at the seaplane base. I have also included an AFCAD file that will allow the AI Traffic to follow the taxiways and added several new parking areas.
