Soaring From The Reese Center (ex-Reese AFB) Near Lubbock,TX

File Description:
The Reese Center Soaring Assoc. (fictitious) uses some of the facilities at the Reese Center which is the old Reese AFB. A hanger for the Assoc has been built there and all runways are available to the Assoc for use. Most of the thermal activity is found west of the city of Lubbock but you may find one or two building up on the east side. But if you have previously installed the thermal scenery for "Thermal Thumbing to Kansas" and "West Texas Thermals", wow the soaring horizon opens even further,from Marfa,TX to Salina,KS.

Alamagorda, New Mexico 'Try the Ridge Soaring'

File Description:
Alamagorda,New Mexico is ideally suited for ridge soaring when the moderate breeze is coming from the west. With the mountains just to the east of town you can spend an enjoyable afternoon soaring along the ridge line and getting a great view of the white sands to the west. There is some thermal activity out over the desert floor but you must be careful since Holloman AFB is out there and also the White Sands Missile Range. All ridge and thermal lift was installed manually using the Thermiek thermal program.

Roswell New Mexico Soaring

Here is you chance to soar in the vicinity of Roswell, New Mexico, located on the high plains of eastern New Mexico. Durango Colorado Soaring

File Description:
Soaring here in the southern portion of the Rocky Mountains can be quite entertaining and also quite exciting at times. You have to make the most of the lift when it is available since some of these peaks are high. Lots to do here for a Saturday of entertainment, maybe trying to soar from KDRO over to 2V1 and even trying to miss the golf course when landing at 2V1. Other short adventures such as this are available so give it a try.

Soaring at Bishop, CA

File Description:
The mountain peaks in the area are high, the scenery is beautiful in the spring and summer and the lift is good. Come and visit the area and maybe even try to soar over to Dyer (2Q9) on the Nevada border or try to see Mammoth Yosemite (KMMH) in a sailplane. The area will make for a good weekend of soaring fun.
