File Description:
X-Plane 6.40
The PBY Catalina is probably the best known flying boat with over 4000 produced by Consolidated aircraft and licensees. The Black Cat squadrons all done in flat black played havoc particularly for the Japanese in the Pacific in WWII. Fitted with radar, with a 15 hour endurance and 2800 mile range they hunted Japanese naval ships and bombed or torpedoed them by the hundreds. This a fairly accurate rendition of the PBY except that the retractable pontoons are missing. Why? Well basically after using all the tricks I know I ran out of parts. There are 6 engine nacelles used in the model, 2 represent the 1200 HP radial engines driving the props, the others are jets with 5 lbs of thrust, 1 is used for the rear fuselage section, 1 is used for the wing pylon, 1 is used for the flare from the fuselage to the vertical stabilizer and the last is used for the forward observation and gunner space. Two are not used. Wing sections are taken up by the main wing and the support spars so there you go. The fuel tanks are used for the side gunner pods since these can be decorated separately. The plane flies very well and is stable. Takeoffs from water are quite easy as long as you don't dip a wing tip (no floats remember). This aircraft model and the paint scheme is copyright by Robert App, January 2003. Feel free to alter the paint scheme and instrument panel as long as you give me credit for the original design. The Black Cat squadron logo used in the paint scheme is courtesy of http://www.daveswarbirds.com/blackcat/logos.htm and is from the VP-71 Black Cat squadron. E mail me with any good panels or paint schemes and I will give full credit if used.

Ready to take your flight simulation hobby to the next level of realism and entertainment? Try flying online alongside your fellow flight simmers in this friendly online community! The POSCON Launcher enables users to download, install, launch, and auto-update all other software required to connect to the Positive Control Network. The Launcher auto-updates itself when a new version is released, so after the initial download from AVSIM, you will not need to download it again from here. /// WHAT IS POSCON? /// The Positive Control (POSCON) Network is a massively multiplayer online network that connects users of various flight simulator platforms (FSX, P3D, MSFS, and X-Plane) together with virtual air traffic controllers in an interactive, immersive, and realistic environment. Our team of highly skilled aviation professionals have developed a common error-based training system so that everyone, regardless of skill and knowledge level, can engage cooperatively together on the network. Consistency is ensured by gamification through a web-based point system solution where users compete for status. POSCON was designed to cater to both newbies and experienced flight simmers. This is a judgement free community, come try us out! /// NETWORK FEATURES /// - 15 Hz refresh rate multiplayer server - fast enough for precision formation flying - Voice over IP (VoIP) technology that allows users to realistically simulate Very High Frequency (VHF) radio communications - Custom model matching will draw other pilots' aircraft in your sim - ATC software that simulates the FAA En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) radar system - Realistic ICAO flight plan (FPL) filing system that allow you file flight plans up to 5 days in advance of your flight - A live map that allows you to track your flight and other online activity (updates every second) - Statistics tracking - Passenger and cargo role-play system to give your flights purpose (Trips System) - Realistic Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) system - Weekly online events

| Alaska North Slope 9; Point Hope PAPO |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west, south, and east of Barrow on the North Slope. There will be further additions. Point Hope is a village on a spit of land that is one of the oldest and continuously inhabited places in all of North America, not just the polar regions. The "Point" is what brought this about, migrating whales passing close to land as they rounded the point, and the traditional way of life continues to this day. The population is now around 670. The airport surpassed all my expectations of FS9. Go look at the area before you install this. The first thing you will notice is that FS9 does not list Point Hope PAPO. The town is there (way too big and in totally the wrong place) and the airport background is there (wrong place of course) but there is no airport! Some buildings, but no runway, no apron, nothing that can be used by a plane?!? In real life the town is 3 miles east of the point, the runway is situated between town and point and, unusually in the north, is asphalt. This is presumably possible because of the gravel make-up of the point itself, with very little vegetable content and the warming sea restricting permafrost movements. 4,000 feet of 75 feet wide asphalt, lit, PAPI at both ends, and aligned 01-19. The building that appears to be wrongly situated away from the apron is like that intentionally; it is a helicopter hangar (not used in winter?) and they presumably did not want the apron traffic to get in their way. The AI has daily flights by ERA, plus Northern Air Cargo, and some GA.

| Algerian Air Force Mil Mi-24V Hind E |
|
File Description:
FS2004 Mil MI-24V Hind E. Deadly looking, and just as lethal, the Mil MI-24 series of Helicopter Gunships are perfect Cold War images of the Soviet concept of a "Flying APC" armed with AT missiles, Rockets and Cannon, and capable of transporting 8 Troops in its cabin. Caused much concern in the West, where there was no counterpart, and given the NATO code-name "Hind" MI-24's were first built with conventional flightdeck-type cabin,as the MI-24A, then redesigned with the stepped, armored cockpits for pilot and weapons systems operator (wso), as the MI-24D. Later improvements resulted in the V, VP, P, and Recon versions. Was, and still, in service with over 20 nations.

| ANA Pokemon Jet '98 Domestic Version Boeing 747-400D |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
A repaint of the Project Open Sky Boeing 747-400D GE model into the colors of one of All Nippon Airways' first Pokemon Jet design unveiled in 1998. Hand-painted in Photoshop. Aircraft is registered JA8965 however no longer wearing it. ANA used this for international flights. May work with FS2004 however there are no guarantees. Requires POSKY's base 747-400D package (links to the package can be found at the readme file). Note that this is different from the International version; this one has the writings "Pocket Monsters" in the middle with the tail having their own design, not the airline logo and this one has no winglets, unlike the standard -400. | Central African Airways, Vickers Viscount 700 circa 1956 |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
CAA purchased their first Vickers Viscount 748D on 25th April 1956. A further four were delivered in the same year. The aircraft came equipped with external slipper tanks for long-range operations. In 1957 the Viscounts took over the international service to Europe from Vickers Vikings. All the Viscounts except VP-YNE passed on to Air Rhodesia when Central African Airways was disolved in 1965. This V.748D (C/N 99) was built for CAA as VP-YNB and first flew on Saturday, 5 May 1956 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Dorset, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines. You need Rick Piper's Vickers Viscount 700 model which you can download at: http://www.cbfsim.org/cbfsim/cbfs_lib/displayimage.php?album=9&pos=0. Repaint by Andre Reimers.

This is my rendition of XV758 with tailcode "V" flown by 3 Squadron , RAF Gutersloh circa 1989 .. Modifications include panellines , rivets , squadron badge on flying suit , changed colour of helmet , changed number on GPU and added new bump & spec maps ( where needed ) .
There are however certain limitations with the texture mapping , for example the rear section of the main fuselage is only shown once in the paintkit,so the camouflage pattern is mirrored .One of the flaps is also mirrored above and below the wing,so all camouflage using Light Aircraft Grey undersides aren't shown correctly..The fuel tank has the same problem as certain sections are also mirrored. The camera was only mounted on the port side of the nose, not port and starboard.
